RIVERA’S POV
SIX MONTHS LATER
I lay in Rafael’s arms on the ground, watching the stars with him. Every time I made out figures with the stars, I would show and explain to him, pointing with my stars so he could see the figures the way I saw them. I looked up at his face and I could see the way his face lit up after each imaginary figure I showed him. It was beyond just laying in his arms, it was doing the littlest things with him and feeling like we were on another adventure.
When we were alone, we talked about our future together, starting a family, spending the rest of our lives in the pack house and watching our children grow, our fears and growth over the years- the larger thoughts. We also talked about stars, our habits, random gifts on random days, watching the sunset together -
