CHAPTER 11 : FIRST DAY AT WORK

(When we arrived at the restaurant, he gave me a kiss on the cheek and got out of the car without saying anything. I looked at him confused as my face turned a little red.)

(I got out of the car and went into the restaurant. When I walked in, I was surprised that there were already customers, waitresses and waiters. I followed Jason to his office and he gave me a uniform.)

(I went to the lady's bathroom and changed and started working. I waited on few tables and got a few tips but instead of taking them and putting them inside the tip jar, I put them in my pockets.)

(After a few hours of working, it was lunchtime and I thought I should visit Jessica at her office. I grabbed my purse and left.)

(When I got into the building, I went to the reception and asked if she was busy and when he said no, I went to her office.)

(I went to the elevator, pressed the button and waited for the door to open. When the door opened I got in and pressed the the button of Jessica's office floor and waited for the door to close.)

(When it was about to close, Ace quickly ran in and looked at me with cold and emotionless expression. He stood at the opposite corner and didn't say anything. The elevator stopped at Jessica office's floor and the door opened.)

(I walked out and it closed and I went to Jessica's office. I walked into his office and found her talking on the phone with someone and I just sat down across from her and waited for her to finish.)

(After a few minutes, she was done talking and looked at me.)

Jessica : "Heyyy girrrlll. What brings you here?"

Me : "I came to eat lunch with you. Why else would I come to you?"

Jessica : "Okay but it's on you today because you are a millionaire now. Why are you even working as a waitress when you have like a million dollars?"

Me : "Okay fine."

Jessica : "Let's go. What are we waiting for?"

(We got up and left the company. We went to "Jallo's Pizza". When we got there, we ordered an extra large pepperoni pizza because why wouldn't we, it's a pizza place. While we were waiting for our pizza, I got a call from Jason and I was about to answer it but Jessica took away my phone and hung it up.)

(He called again but she turned off my phone and put it in her purse. I looked at her like a tiger getting ready to attack its prey.)

Jessica : "I know that you work for him now and he's your boss but we are on a lunch break now."

Me : "But I want to tell him that I'm with you and I have to cancel our lunch date."

Jessica : (Eyes widens) "A date?! Are you two dating?"

Me : "What?! NO!! It's just an employee and her boss going on a lunch together to discuss some work stuff."

Jessica : "I know you more than you know yourself and I know that you are lying. Tell me the truth."

Me : "We are not dating but there is something that is happening between us."

Jessica : "Really? Are you sure that you two aren't dating?"

Me : "Yes I'm sure and I thought we came here to have lunch and talk about us and how our lives are weird and not how I'm secretly dating my boss."

Jessica : "So you are secretly dating him?"

Me : "No I'm not secretly dating him and I think that's enough about me and my love life. You know that I'll never find love in this place."

Waiter : (puts down the tray of pizza on the table) "Here's your pizza, ladies. Enjoy."

Jessica : "Thanks. You know..... If you aren't dating Jason, that hot waiter is available and I can see him checking you out."

Me : "What?! No!!"

(When I turned to look at the waiter, I saw him looking at me and he winked at me and attended another costumer. I turned to look at Jessica and she was looking at me in a weird way and I just took a slice of pizza and ate it.)

(While we kept eating, my phone continued to ring and it annoyed Jessica and she ended up giving it back to me and I answered it.)

Me : "Hey Jason."

Jason : "DON'T "HEY JASON" ME!!! WHERE ARE YOU? I'VE BEEN CALLING YOU FOR A LONG TIME!!!"

Me : "I'm still on my lunch break. Why do you sound angry? Is something wrong?"

Jason : "YES!! BECAUSE YOUR LUNCH BREAK WAS OVER 30 MINUTES AGO AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE OVER THIS RESTAURANT NOW BECAUSE I'M ALREADY LATE FOR MY OTHER JOB AND YOU KNOW THAT I WORK TWO JOBS."

Me : "Okay. I'll be there in the next 10 minutes just wait a little longer."

Jason : "YOU BETTER OR ELSE YOU ARE FIRED AND I'LL BE TAKING THAT CHECK BACK!!!"

Me : "Oka-"

(He hangs up before I could finish talking. We finished the rest of the pizza, I paid for it and we left. 10 minutes later, we arrived and when I walked into the restaurant, I saw Jason standing behind the counter and he was looking at me angrily.)

Jason : (With an angry tone) "Welcome back, Emily. How was your lunch break? That was over an hour ago!!"

Emily : "I'm sorry. I kinda lost track of time and it won't happen again I promise."

Jason : "It better not. Now table 4, 5,8 and 10 needs service. Go and take their orders and you'll be serving their food and collecting their checks."

Emily : "All four of them?!"

Jason : "Yeah. You are lucky that I'm not sending you to the kitchen to cook their food too."

Emily : "You can do that?"

Jason : (sighs and pinches the end of his nose) "Just ask the rest of the employees here and you'll find out. Anyway, you are also in charge of the restaurant for the rest of the day. I have to go to my other job."

Emily : "See ya."

Jason : "Don't mess it up."

(He grabbed his bag and left. I looked around and saw James, one of the waiters sitting and scrolling on his phone. I walked upto him and told him to waiter at table 4 and 5, while I waited at table 8 and 10.)

(After we were done, it was closing time and I waited for everyone to leave so that I could lock up. After they left, I got out and locked up. While I was locking up, Jason and Daniel showed up.)

Jason : "So... How did it go?"

Me : "It went fine. Everyone did their part and everything turned out okay."

Jason : "That's great."

Me : (Hands the keys to Jason) "Here are the keys. By the way, why are you here, Daniel?"

Daniel : "Well..... Uhm..... I was on my way to the cinema and Jason has my car keys."

Me : "Okay then. What movie are you gonna watch?"

Daniel : "It's this movie that recently got released. It's called,"The Bride,"

Me : "Ohk. Is it a romance movie?"

Daniel : "Yeah and also horror."

Me : "That sounds great. Hope you enjoy."

(While they were talking, Jessica walked out of her company's building and I saw here and ran to her while she was going to her car.)

Me : (stops next to her car) "Hey, Jess. Can you give me a ride?"

Jessica : "Okay."

Me : (Opens the passenger door and gets in) "Thanks."

Jessica : (gets in the driver's seat) "It's fine. So are you always going to knock off this late or is it just for today?"

Me : "I don't know. My boss makes all of decisions. There he is."

Jessica : (looks around) "Where?"

Me : (Points to the left side across the street) "There. The one wearing traffic cop uniform."

Jessica : (looks) "Ooohhhh. You mean the one you had s*x with."

Me : (face turns red) "What?!..... I didn't-..... I mean..... Would you just drive?!"

(She laughed at me and drove off.)

Jessica : "So........ Why didn't you go to work with your car?"

Me : (sighz) "Well....... It had a problem."

Jessica : (raises an eyebrow) "A problem? What kind of problem?"

Me : "Uhmmm........ I don't know how to say it."

Jessica : "Okay so your “boss” gave you a ride?"

Me : "Yeah and also....... Ace showed up at my door earlier and offered to give me a ride but Jason was waiting for me."

Jessica : "Wow. It kinda looks like Ace kinda have feelings for you."

Me : "I don't think he does."

Jessica : "Why do you say that?"

Me : "Well, I bumped into him in the elevator when I came to get you for lunch and he looked at me coldly and he didn't even say anything to me."

Jessica : "Wait..... Does he know?"

Me : "I don't think so. I didn't tell him. Maybe it's because I didn't ride with him to work."

Jessica : "Are you sure? Also I don't get why he's still chasing after you when he has a wife and kids. I mean even his wife is way better looking than you and has a really great job and all of that. And well....... You only have a million dollars in the bank and we both know that Ace isn't a gold digger."

Me : "Maybe he can't handle my cuteness."

Jessica : (laughs) "You? Cute? Don't make me laugh."

Me : (frowns) "What kind of a friend are you?"

Jessica : "A true one that knows everything about you and always tells the truth."

Me : "Am I really that ugly?"

Jessica : "I didn't say that you are ugly. I'm just saying that you aren't prettier than me or Ace's wife."

Me : (sarcastically) "Well thank you for being honest with me."

Jessica : "You're welcome. So...... Who is it going to be?"

Me : "I don't know yet. And I can't chose between Daniel and Jason. They are brothers and I'll be tearing up the sibling bond they have. Also, I don't want to be a home wrecker. I mean I know that I might like Ace but even if I was Ace, I wouldn't divorce her just to be with me."

Jessica :" So you are agreeing with me when I say that she's way better than you. "

Me : "Kinda."

Jessica : "What about that hot waiter at Jallo's Pizza?"

Me : "He's fine but he looked like he's a "one-night stand" typa guy, and I'm not that kind of girl."

Jessica : "Okay. So, you'll be spending the rest of your life single and alone and depressed?"

Me : "It looks like it but I don't want to. I guess I have to make a choice between Daniel and Jason."

Jessica : "Well good luck." (Pulls up in front of my apartment) "Here we are. Keep thinking about it and let me know when you decide or I'll decide for you."

Me : "I will. Even though it's going to be difficult. See you tomorrow." (gets out of the car and waves to her through the window.)

(She waves back and drove away. I went inside and took a warm shower. When I was done, I got into my pyjamas and was ready to cook dinner, when I got a text from Jackson.)

Jackson : (texts) "Hey Emily. Are you busy now?"

Me : (texts back) "No I'm not. What's up?"

Jackson : (texts back) "Can you meet me at Fiddler's in the next five minutes? I need to talk to you."

Me : (texts back) "Okay. I'll be there."

(I changed into a ruby dress and I wore my sneakers and left. I wondered why he wanted to see me now. After ten minutes, I arrived at the Fiddler's Food restaurant. I got in and saw him sitting down at the table near the window, I went to him and sat down across from him.)

Jackson : "Glad you could make it."

Me : "Yeah. So what's up?"

Jackson : "I just wanted to treat you for dinner as a celebration for getting a job. Well, since I couldn't join you at the club."

Me : "Oh...... Well thanks. And it was a great timing, since I was tired and I was about to cook dinner."

Jackson : "Okay. So...... How was your first day at work, today?"

Me : "It was fine. It was my first time waiting on table and being in charge of the restaurant."

Jackson : "Wait..... Really? You in charge of something?"

Me : "Yeah."

Jackson : "And you didn't mess anything up?"

Me : "No I didn't. Why would you even think that?"

Jackson : "Because I've known you since high-school and you never did a good job at being in charge of something."

Me : "Well...... I'm all grown up and I've changed."

Jackson : (scoffs) "I doubt it."

Me : "I'm telling you. I have changed...... Well, I've partially changed."

Jackson : "Okay."

Me : (grabs a menu and looks at it) "So, how's work?"

Jackson : (looks at the menu too) "It's fine. Even though you never thought of even coming to my section to say,“hi”."

Me : "Sorry about that. I kinda forgot that you are working at Jessica's company. How did Ace and you get a job at the same place? Also why is he even working for Jessica when he literally owns a restaurant?"

Jackson : "Only god knows."

(The waitress walks up to us)

Waitress : "Are you ready to order?"

Me : "Yes. I'll have a pork steak, well done, a cheeseburger with a side of French fries, and the first item on your specials manue."

Waitress : (writes) "Okay. What about you, sir?"

Jackson : "Do you have any sea food?"

Waitress : "No, sir."

Jackson : "Oh...... Then I'll just have a beef stake and French toast with cheddar cheese."

Waitress : (writes) " How would you like your stake?"

Jackson : "Medium rare."

Waitress : "Okay. I'll be back with your food."

(The waitress took our menus and left. When I looked at Jackson, he kept looking at the waitress like he knows her.)

Me : "Why are you looking at her like that?"

Jackson : "She oddly looks familiar. I think we've met before. Also she's new to this place."

Me : "So? Are you interested in her or something?"

Jackson : (shakes his head) "No I'm not. Besides, even if I was, she wouldn't want to go out with a person like me."

Me : "How would you know that? It's better to try and get rejected than not try at all."

Jackson : "Who are you? What have you done to my friend."

Me : "What do you mean?"

Jackson : "Did you just gave me a dating advice?"

Me : "Looks like it."

Jackson : "Okay. Tell me.... Who's the guy that you want to date but you can't?"

Me : (eyes widens) "How did you....."

Jackson : "You are Emily and when you give someone an advice, it's just the one you can't take yourself."

Me : "Okay fine. I met a guy who's a traffic cop and also my boss now. He has a twin brother who's also a traffic cop too."

Jackson : "Oh. So you can't decide between the two of them, which one you want?"

Me : "Actually it's three, for now and the third one is......."

Jackson : "Ace?"

Me : "Yeah. And I know it's weird that your brother is involved too but he's the one who keeps making moves on me and I'm trying to hard to push him away."

Jackson : "I'll try to talk to him for you, okay?"

Me : "Thanks but don't make it seem like I'm the one who sent you, okay?"

Jackson : "Don't worry. I'll take care of him."

Me : "Thanks."

Jackson : "No problem. By the way, how'd you even get him to fall for you?"

Me : "Uhmm...... Actually......... An accident happened a few days ago."

Jackson : (raises an eyebrow) "Accident? What kind of accident?"

Me : "Well...... I accidentally kissed him."

Jackson : (looks shocked) "YOU WHAT?!"

Me : "It was an accident and I told him that it wasn't supposed to happen but he doesn't listen."

Jackson : "How did it even happen?"

Me : "Well.... I was in traffic and insulted a man and he wanted me to apologize by kissing him and I kinda forgot to do it. So when I at Jallo's pizza, he came upto me and I went into the alley and I thought he was behind me and I accidentally kissed Ace instead of him."

Jackson : "That's........ I don't know what to say."

(The waitress came with our food and we started to eat. It got really silent and I didn't even know what to say to him.)

(After we were done eating, he payed for the food and we left. He walked me to my apartment and he didn't even say anything to me ever since we left the restaurant.)

(We got to my apartment and I said good night to him and he just nodded and left. I went inside and went straight to my bedroom and changed back into my pyjamas and went to bed.)
