LOVE IN TRAFFIC

CHAPTER 12 : THE INCIDENT

(It was about seven in the morning and I was getting ready for another day at work. When I was done, I grabbed my car keys, my purse and walked out of my apartment.)

(I got into my car and drove off to work. I kept wondering why did Jackson acted weirdly after I told him about how I accidentally kissed Ace.)

(I tried to forget about it but it kept bugging me and I decided that I'll talk to him during my lunch break.)

(When I got to the restaurant, I went in and changed into my waitressing uniform. While I was in the staff room, Rose, one of the waitresses walked upto me.)

Rose : "Uh, Hey Emily. Mr Davenport said you are in charge for today."

Me : "Again?"

Rose : "Yeah. And I think you might be in charge for the whole week."

Me : "Why do you think that?"

Rose : "Because that's what he does to all the new employers of his restaurant."

Me : "Why does he do that?"

Rose : "To see if you can multi-task and to see how responsible you are."

Me : "And if you fail?"

Rose : "He fires you. About eight people were fired before you."

Me : (looking shocked) "Really?"

Rose : (nodding) "Yes. So, if you want to keep this job, I suggest that you work hard and be more responsible or do what Diana did to keep working here."

Me : "What did Diana do?"

Rose : (leaning in closer and whispering) "She slept with Mr Davenport for a week."

Me : (gasping) "How do you even know that?"

Rose : "She told me."

Me : "So she's a bragger?"

Rose : "Yeah. She's even not that goot at her job too."

Me : "Okay. Well, I guess I should start working. Wait...... Am I allowed to go on my lunch break?"

Rose : "Well, yeah. But you only have a maximum of ten minutes."

Me : "Okay."

(Rose left and I went to Jason's office. When I got there, I found a note on his desk and I picked it up and it said, " Hey Emily, you're in charge again, possibly for the rest of the week. Don't slack off or repeat what you did yesterday. If you do, you're fired and you'll be broke again. Don't forget to record the total amount of money you made at the end of the day.")

(I sighed and went to the restaurant. I started helping in the restaurant and monitored everything that was happening.)

(After a few hours, it was lunch time and I quickly ran out of the restaurant and went to Jessica's company. I was about to entre, when Jackson walked out texting on his phone.)

Me : "Hey, Jackson."

Jackson : (looking up) "Hey. You here to see Jessica, again?"

Me : "Yeah. But I want to talk to you about last night. You didn't even say good night back. Are you really that angry at me?"

Jackson : "I was. But then I remembered that you are Emily.... The woman who can't do anything right."

Me : "What's that supposed to mean?"

Jackson : "Nothing. Anyway, Charlotte is in a meeting with an important investor."

Me : "Okay. Who's that?"

Jackson : "Why do you want to know?"

Me : "Just curious."

Jackson : "No you're not. You just want to know how he looks like and want Jessica to hook you up with him."

Me : (chuckling nervously) "Whaaat? No. I'm not like that."

Jackson : "Emily? I'm literally the first person you've met in our circle that you've been friends with for years and I know you more than you know yourself. Besides, he isn't your type. Unless you're into gays now and I don't know about it."

Me : "He's gay?"

Jackson : "Yeah. Even if he was interested in you, he wouldn't be interested in filling up your hole."

Me : "You don't know that. Most of the guys in college were interested in getting into me and about four of them got into it. One of them was gay."

Jackson : (laughing) "Keep telling yourself that."

Me : "Whatever. So, where are you off to?"

Jackson : "On my way to pick up my food. Wanna come with?"

Me : "Is it far?"

Jackson : "No. It's just a five minute walk."

Me : "Okay. let's go. Wait...... Do you like, have a pic of him?"

Jackson : "No I do not and even if I did, I wouldn't have shown it to you."

Me : "Worth a try."

(We started walking to the place. When we got there, the place was over crowded with people and waiters were all over the place.)

(We waited at the entrance and one of the waitresses came upto us. As she got closer, I noticed that she looked familiar.)

Waitress : "Hey, Em. It's been a while since we've talked to each other."

Me : "Wait...... Chloe? How have you been, girl?"

Chloe : "Great. Got a job, husband and a house."

Me : "Really?"

Chloe : (laughing) "Nah.... I'm just kidding. Just a job and an apartment."

Me : "Still moving at the same pace."

Chloe : "Oh. You got a job too? What do you work as?"

Me : "As..... Uhm..... a waitress."

Chloe : "Wait, really?"

Me : "Yeah."

Chloe : (laughing) "I thought you said that you weren't gonna be a waitress even if they paid you a quarter of a million."

Me : "Well, things change. Also, I'm like the richest waitress in the world."

Chloe : "Oh, really?"

Me : "Yeah. I don't even know why I'm working as a waitress when I have a million dollars in my account."

Chloe : (eyes widening) "What? You're kidding, right?"

Me : "Nope."

Chloe : "How'd you get it?"

Me : "With hard work and determination."

Jackson : (laughing) "Yeah, “hard work, ” that's what we call it now."

Me : "Shut up."

Chloe : "Anyways, you guys will have to wait for another hour to get a table."

Jackson : "We didn't come here to eat. I just came to pick up."

Chloe : "Oh. I'll go check if they are done with it. Also, it's finally nice to meet you, Allen."

Jackson : "Allen?"

Chloe : "You're not Allen? Jackson Allen Madden?"

Jackson : "I am. But how do you know my full...... Nevermind."

Chloe : (walking away) "Yeah. I'll be back with your food."

Jackson : "You told her my full name?"

Me : "She kept asking me."

Jackson : "Okay. Is she Chloe?"

Me : "Yeah. Why do you ask?"

Jackson : "No reason."

Me : "You do know know that I have your girlfriend's number on speed dial, right?"

Jackson : "You have my girlfriend's number? Where'd you get it?"

Me : "We met somewhere and I needed someone who would bake a cake for me. Also, I'm a little angry that you have a girlfriend who's a baker and you couldn't even get her to bake me a birthday cake for free."

Jackson : "Sometimes you gotta pay for things to happen. That's how the world goes around."

Me : "Whatever. By the way, have you ever visited her?"

Jackson : "Actually, it's been a while since I've seen or even talked to her. Maybe this weekend I should visit her, if Jessica lets me."

Me : "I know she'll let you. She'll literally do anything for love."

(Chloe came back with Jackson's order and we paid her. He gave her a hundred dollar tip and she looked at me and waved it into my face before going back to work.)

(After she left, we also left. He while we were walking, I saw Jessica leaving her company building with a tall muscular blonde man, with a body of model. I ran to them, leaving Jackson behind.)

(I thought I was going to catch them before the man left, but when I got there, the man was already driving away. After she waved at him, she turned to me and looked at me confused.)

Jessica : "Girrl, if you're trying to get a summer body, it's too late for you. The lord gave you that shape for a reason."

Me : (breathing heavily) "That's a little rude. But it's not that. Who was that man you were with?"

Jessica : "Just a business partner."

Me : "But Jackson said he was one of your investors."

Jessica : "Why are you even asking?"

Me : "Jackson told me that he's hot, handsome, sexy and attractive. So I was thinking maybe you could....."

Jessica : (interrupting) "Sorry but you can't have him. And yeah he's all that, but he's a player."

Me : "Just one date."

Jessica : "No. Also, he's like bisexual. I mean I don't want you to come to me crying, saying that he left you for another man."

Me : "Wait..... He isn't straight? Now I'm even more interested."

Jessica : "No way. I'll tell you what I told my fiancé when he wanted to move in with me after our second date. That ain't gonna happen."

Me : "Fine. What's his name?"

Jessica : "He's Vincent Volkov."

Me : "Is he Russian?"

Jessica : "How do you know that?"

Me : "I did date two Russian guys back in college."

Jessica : "How much did you pay 'em?"

Me : "Nothing. Also, I did date them. I'm not lying."

Jessica : "Whatever. So, where'd you come from?"

Me : "I accompanied Jackson to this Japanese restaurant to pick up his lunch."

Jessica : (looking behind me) "Where is he?"

Me : (turning around) "He was behind me. I don't know where he is now."

Jessica : "Whatever. What are you even doing here? Shouldn't you be working?"

Me : "Nah. I'm in charge."

Jessica : "Yeah. In charge of keeping the restaurant running smoothly, with no trouble."

Me : "Yeah."

Jessica : "Which means that you have to be in the restaurant until it's knock off time."

Me : "You're right. I should go back. I'll see you later."

Jessica : "Yeah."

(I ran across the road and went back to the restaurant. When I got in, I saw Jason standing behind the counter and he didn't look very happy.)

(I went to one of the tables that had dirty dishes on and I took them to the kitchen. When I was about to leave the kitchen, he blocked my path.)

(I tried to pass under his arms, but he grabbed my hand and pulled me to his office.)

Jason : (slamming the door) "What's wrong with you?"

Me : "What do you mean?"

Jason : "I put you in charge while I wasn't here and guess what, you weren't here."

Me : "It was my lunch break and I was only out for like five minutes."

Jason : "Well, maybe you shouldn't go on breaks. The health inspector is coming today and if I don't pass the inspection this time, they'll shut down my restaurant and you'll go back to being unemployed and broke. Also, I might get arrested."

Me : (putting my hand on his cheek) "You won't get arrested. I didn't know that the health inspector was coming, I could have helped by cleaning the restrooms or something."

Jason : "What are you doing?"

Me : "What? Am I not allowed to touch my boss? I mean he's already got into me. Why would it be a big deal that I put my hand on his cheek?"

Jason : "Because we are at work. And we can save it for later tonight, if you are up for it."

Me : "Are you asking me to have s*x with you tonight?"

Jason : "Well, yeah. I don't take no for an answer. I'll be over at nine o'clock sharp. You better be ready."

(He kissed me on the cheek and left his office. I just stood there, frozen like a statue, with my eyes widened and my cheeks turning red.)

(I brushed it off and went to the broom closet and grabbed things I needed to clean the restrooms. I went there and started with the women's restrooms.)

(I didn't take long because they weren't that much dirty. After I was done, I went to men's restrooms. I was expecting it to have a lot of dirt everywhere but I was surprised that it was sparkly clean.)

(I went to the sinks and wiped the stains on them and on the mirror. While I was wiping them, I heard a sound coming from one of the stalls. I stopped and listened to it carefully and my eyes widen in shock, when I heard a female voice moaning in the middle stall that was behind me.)

(I slowly turned around and walked towards the door of the stall. I gently put my head against the door to listen to whatever that was going on inside there.)

(I got on my knees and peeped under the door, to see who was in there. When I looked at what was behind the door, I saw a clipboard on the floor and a waitress' apron on the floor.)

(I got up and the moaning kept getting louder and louder. I gently knocked on the door and the sound immediately stopped. I noticed that they didn't lock the door of the stall and I opened it.)

(Right on the toilet seat, was sitting a man with short black hair and he was wearing a name tag on his yellow shirt. It said, “Health Inspector : Mr George Dickinson,” and on his lap it was Diana. I'm pretty sure that she was riding his penis.)

(My jaw slightly opened and then Rose walked into the bathroom. When she saw them, she gasped in shock and disgust.)

Rose : (gasping) "Dad?! Diana?! WHAT f**k ARE YOU TWO DOING?!"

Diana : (getting up and pulling down her skirt) "Rose. It's not what it looks like."

Rose : (Slapping Diana across the face) "It is what it looks like. How could you do that when I told you for a hundred times that he's my father."

Diana : (holding her cheek) "I didn't go to him. He approached me."

Rose : (shouting angrily) "Don't lie to me you w***e!!! I know that you've always had eyes on him ever since you met him. And you, dad. She's like ten years younger than you. She's practically the same age as your daughter, me!!! And you just decide to f**k her?! I told you to stay away from her!!!WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!"

George : (pulling up his pants) "Rose, honey. It just happened so quickly, that I couldn't even control the situation."

Rose : (Shouting) "JUST SHUT THE f**k UP, DAD!!! I'M EVEN ASHAMED TO CALL YOU MY FATHER!!! JUST LEAVE HERE AND NEVER COME BACK!!!!"

(Rose ran out of the restroom crying and her father ran after her. I just stood there, with my jaw slightly hanging and being shocked by what just happened.)

(Diana just looked at me angrily with a bruised cheek and left. I went back to work and Jason texted me that the health inspector postponed his inspection to next week.)

(I just read the text and went back to work. After a few hours, it was closing time. I waited for everyone to leave, and I locked up and went home.)

(When I got there, I went straight to the bathroom and took a warm shower for almost an hour. When I was done, I got into my most comfortable pyjamas, sat down on the couch and watched TV.)

(While I was watching the movie, “Five years of eternal love story,” I got a text from Jason saying that he won't be able to come to my place and I let out a sigh of relief.)

(When the movie was over, I got tired and sleepy and went bed.)

(The next day when I was getting ready for work, Jason texted me that I could take a day off and I immediately called Jessica.)

Jessica : (over the phone) "Hey, girl. What's up?"

Me: "Are you busy today?"

Jessica : "I won't be, since it's a public holiday, today. What is it?"

Me : "I was wondering if you could come over and we could try to find me a boyfriend."

Jessica : "Don't worry. I'll be there in ten."

Me : "Okay. See ya."

(I hung up and ordered a pizza for me and her to eat when she arrives. I started cleaning the apartment while I waited for her to arrive.)

(When I was done, I heard a knock on the door and thought that it might be the pizza. When I went to open the door, Ace was standing there. He looked a little different than usual.)

(When I was about to greet him, he pushed me back inside and started kissing me. I tried to pull back but he pulled me in. I ended up giving in and he kept kissing me passionately and hard.)

(He carried me to my bedroom and lied me down on the bed. He got on top of me and leaned closer to me.)

Ace : (breathing heavily) "I've missed you. I want us to happen."

Me : (breathing heavily) "But Ace, you're married and I can't just let you come to me whenever you want. I don't want to be known as a home wrecker."

Ace : "But we both know that you love me and I love you. Why can't you just accept it?"

Me : "Because of the women and kids you have with her. I can't do this with you."

Ace : "Please, Emily. Just this once."

Me : "No. Get off me."

Ace : (kissing me) "Please. Just this once."

Me : (kissing back) "Fine. But don't tell anyone."

Ace : "I won't."

Jessica : (knocking on the door) "Emily! I'm here! Open the door!

Me : (gasping) "Oh no. It's Jessica."

Ace : (looking back) "What?!"
