LOVE IN TRAFFIC

CHAPTER 05 : THE INTERVIEW

(It was 6:30 am, I was woken up from a long peaceful nap by a smell of scrambled eggs and bacons.)

(I wondered who that could it be and I got up from the bed and walked to the kitchen.)

(As I got closer to the kitchen, the smell got stronger and it smelled even more good. When I got to the kitchen I froze in embarrassment to see Daniel shirtless.)

(I just stood there still looking at his perfect musculine body and his perfectly shaped abs. My face turned red and I didn't even notice him walking towards me.)

(When he was close to me, he just snapped his fingers and I got startled a bit and looked at him in the eyes.)

Daniel : "Are you okay?"

Me : "Yeah. Why?"

Daniel : (smiles as he tugs my hair behind my ear) "Just asking."

(He winked at me while smirking and went back to cooking and that made me blush a bit.)

(I checked what time it was and found out that I have like an hour and half to get ready for the interview. Well, Daniel on the other hand, was supposed to be somewhere else 5 minutes ago but he's late.)

(I went to the bathroom to get myself ready, while Daniel was still cooking.)

(thirty minutes later, I was done. I went to the kitchen to eat breakfast that Daniel has made and thinking that he would still be there.)

(When I got to the kitchen, I found one plate on the kitchen counter with a note saying, “I won't be able to join you for breakfast now, there's somewhere else I should be. xoxo Daniel.”)

(After I read the note, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I felt like I was developing some feelings for Daniel. That's when I realize that I'm falling in love with wrong person.)

(I mean, I was supposed to fall in love with Jason and not Daniel. I mean they might look alike but they're personalities are different.)

(So I just shoke it off and enjoy his amazing, well cooked breakfast. When I was done, I cleaned up the mess that he left and it didn't bother me.)

(After that, I grabbed my stuff, went to my car and drove off to the restaurant where I'm going to get interviewed.)

(After a long 2 hour drive, I arrived. When I got there, I parked my car near Jessica's company and got out. I went to the restaurant.)

(When I stepped into the restaurant, confetti and balloons came out of nowhere and all the workers in that restaurant jumped out of their hiding spots and music started playing.)

(A big sign appeared and it said, “YOU ARE OUR 10 THOUSANDTH CUSTOMER, YOU HAVE WON A GIFT CARD FOR FREE MEALS FOR THE WHOLE YEAR AND ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!”.)

(I stood there frozen in place, looking confused. Then the manager of the restaurant came out of the kitchen holding a check of one million dollars.)

(I was still confused but when I saw the manager's face, I smiled a bit because it was Daniel.)

Me : (smiles) "Daniel!?, you also own this restaurant?"

The manager : (gets close to me and takes off his shades to reveal his different eyes and smiles.) "I'm not Daniel. I'm Jason."

Me : "Ohh. Hey Jason. I didn't know you own the restaurant."

Jason : "There's a lot you don't know about me. Also I kinda felt like I was played after you took my number and never bothered to call or text me."

Me : (looks a little embarrassed) "Yeah about that, I kinda lost it on that same day, Sorry."

Jason : (Smiles) "It's okay. So what are you gonna do with this 1 million dollars?"

Me : "Why are you asking?"

Jason : "Just curious."

Me : "I think I need a new place to stay. I mean my own house and a new car, the one I'm using belongs to my great grandfather."

Jason : "Okay. So what brings you here?"

Me : "I came here for a job interview and I didn't expect this to happen."

Jason : "Well, it must be your lucky day today. Who knows, maybe you might also get the job. Now follow me."

Me : "Okay."

(I followed Jason to his office and we entered and I was ready for the interview.)

(We both sat down across each other, and the room was filled with silence as we looked at each other in the eyes with serious expressions.)

(I knew that I wouldn't even break the eye contact even if I wanted to because his unique eyes were making it hard to break it.)

Jason : "Hi Emily, thanks for coming in today! Can you start by telling me a little bit about yourself and why you're interested in this waitressing position?"

Me : "Absolutely. I'm a quick learner, and I'm available to work a variety of shifts. I'm excited about the opportunity to join your team!"

Jason : "Great! As a waitress here, you'd be responsible for taking orders, serving food and drinks, and providing excellent customer service. How would you handle a difficult table or a dissatisfied customer?"

Me : "Well, I believe active listening is key. I'd make sure to understand their concerns, apologize if necessary, and offer a solution. If needed, I'd also involve a manager to ensure the issue is resolved."

Jason : "That's a great approach. How would you manage multiple tables at once and prioritize tasks during a busy shift?"

Me : "I'm able to multitask. I'd make sure to take accurate orders, deliver food promptly, and check in regularly with each table. If needed, I'd also ask for support from my colleagues to ensure everything runs smoothly."

Jason : "Excellent answer! Finally, can you tell me about a time when you went above and beyond for a customer?"

Me : "Actually, in my previous role, a regular customer was celebrating a birthday, and I surprised them with a small dessert and a personalized card. They were so touched, and it made their day special."

Jason : "That's wonderful! Thank you, Emily, for sharing that. Do you have any questions for me about the position or our restaurant?"

Me : "Yes, actually. What's the typical workflow like during a busy night, and how does the team communicate with each other?"

Jason : "We use a combination of technology, like table management systems, and good old-fashioned communication to ensure everyone's on the same page. During busy nights, we work together as a team to support each other and keep everything running smoothly."

Me : "That sounds great. Thank you for answering my question!"

Jason : "You're welcome, Emily. Well, that's all the questions I have for now. We'll be in touch soon to let you know about next steps. Thanks again for coming in today!"

Me : "Thank you, Jason! I appreciate the opportunity, and I look forward to hearing from you soon."

(I got up from my seat and was about to leave when Jason called out to me.)

Jason : (gets up) "Uhh.... Emily? Aren't you forgetting something?"

Me : (stops and turns around) "Ohh. The check. Thanks."

Jason : (hands over the check to me) "Here."

Me : (takes it) "Thanks. I have to go now."

Jason : "Wait. Aren't you forgetting something else?"

Me : "I don't think so."

Jason : (raises an eyebrow) "Are you sure?"

Me : (tries to think hard) "Yeahhh...... No wait, I remember. Your number."(Takes out my phone and gives it to him.)

(Jason took my phone and put his contact number in it and saved it. He handed my phone back and smiled at me.)

(I couldn't help it but blush a bit. Feeling embarrassed, I quickly took my phone and left the office and the restaurant while my face was red like a tomato.)
