~ Alpha Duncan
9:30 p.m.
This little wolf isn’t here.
I dialed her number again, jaw tightening as it went straight to voicemail. No answer. No message. Nothing.
Is she playing with me?
If she eventually gets here, I’m going to f**k her so badly she’ll beg for mercy.
The thought alone made my blood heat. I was hungry for her, aching, restless.
I wanted her on me. Under me. Everywhere.
11:00 p.m.
And she still wasn’t here.
Something was wrong.
I paced the room, irritation giving way to something sharper. Worry.
What happened? Did Anastasia get to her?
No.
Anastasia wouldn’t dare. She loved her life far too much.
Anastasia was my ex, who during the week just found out about I and iris meetings and tried threatening me before I shut her off.
Still… unease crawled under my skin.
I would go see her myself. Maybe she escaped whatever delay she’d run into. She would be at the academy. She had to be.
But damn it! I was hard already. I needed to cool off.
“Thorne!”
Seconds later, he appeared.
“Have my guest arrived?” I asked, already knowing the answer. I was still talking about Iris.
“No,” he replied carefully. “I sent John to fetch her, but he hasn’t set eyes on her either.”
I rubbed my temples. This was no coincidence.
“Fine,” I said sharply. “Get me a fresh, young human.”
He nodded and left.
Not long after, the girl was brought in.
“Strip,” I ordered.
She obeyed quickly. I looked her over from head to toe,and felt absolutely nothing.
“Dance for me.”
She moved the way she thought I wanted, slow and deliberate, trying to entice me.
Boring.
I grabbed an envelope and tossed it toward her. “Take it. Go.”
“Alpha, I...."
“Leave!” I roared.
She scrambled for her clothes, humiliation written all over her face, and fled the room.
Silence fell.
What the hell was wrong with me?
I wanted nothing. No one.
Except Iris.

I stared at the board, then at the teacher. None of it made sense. The words blurred together because all I could think about was Iris.
Just Iris.
I couldn’t believe Miss Eunice had actually gotten her arrested. I was one hundred percent sure she was behind everything—setting Wils up, twisting the story, all of it. Eunice was the devil in heels.
All of this… just to get under Iris’s skirt.
I clenched my fists under the desk. How was I supposed to bail her out? This wasn’t some small issue. This was a crime scene. Real charges.
I sighed and turned to the window—and froze.
A sleek black car pulled into the compound, marked clearly with the wolf crest.
My dad’s car.
I watched as Alpha Duncan stepped out, guards flanking him. Girls nearby slowed, whispering, trying to catch his attention.
For crying out loud, he was forty.
I didn’t wait. I grabbed my bag and rushed out of class.
Maybe he could help.
But would he?
I’d already asked him for a favor once—about Iris. Now this involved police, charges, blood. He would never agree.
“Alice!” he called.
“Dad!” I ran into him and hugged him before I could stop myself. To my shock, tears spilled down my cheeks.
“Why are you crying?” he asked, concern sharpening his voice.
“It’s my best friend,” I said shakily. “It’s… it’s Iris.”
Something in him shifted instantly. His eyes flashed red.
Alpha eyes.
“What happened to Iris?” he demanded.
“She.. she.."
“What happened to Iris?” His voice rose, sharp and commanding.
Why was he so tense?
“She’s in jail,” I blurted. “Aunt Eunice had her arrested.”
His fists clenched at his sides.
“Take me to her,” he said.
As we approached Eunice’s office, sounds drifted through the door, soft, unmistakable. I saw the disgust flash across my father’s face.
Who wouldn't be disgusted, it's Eunice the biggest w***e in this city. She wants to f**k everyone.
He pushed the door open.
Inside, Eunice with two girls, one girl licking her p***y, the other kissing her.
At the sight of my dad, they scrambled away, hurriedly fixing their clothes before fleeing.
Eunice froze, fear flickering in her eyes before she masked it. She buttoned her blouse and sat back down, forcing a smile.
“Sit,” she said stiffly.
The audacity.
“We’re not here to sit, Eunice,” my dad said coldly.
He stepped forward. “It isn’t enough that the Alpha’s sister behaves recklessly. You bring these habits into my office now?”
“It’s my life, Duncan,” she snapped. “Besides, you're following some new chicks.”
My dad exhaled sharply. “Alice told me you arrested her best friend.”
Eunice smiled slowly, resting her chin on her hand. “Oh yes. Did she tell you what Iris did?”
My dad turned to me. “Alice?”
Before I could speak, Eunice cut in smoothly.
“Let me save you the trouble, niece,” she said sweetly. “Iris killed someone.”
My dad’s gaze hardened. “What can we do?”
Eunice leaned forward, folding her arms calmly. “There’s nothing we can do, Duncan. She killed someone. This isn’t a small crime.”
My dad stared at her for a long moment. If looks could kill, Eunice would have been dead already.
“What led to this, Eunice?” he asked quietly.
“You’re the Vice Principal,” he added. “You shouldn’t have allowed this to happen.”
“What could I do, brother?” she replied smoothly. “Alice is careless.”
Oh God. I really wanted to slap her.
“What made her kill him—or her?” my dad asked.
Eunice stood up, pacing slowly. “Well, Iris thought she was special,” she said with a shrug. “She probably assumed the boy was interested in her. Meanwhile, he was gay. Look, Duncan, I don’t really know the whole story.”
It was a lie.
I felt it in my bones.
My dad stepped forward suddenly and grabbed her chin, gripping it tightly. Pain flickered across her face before she could hide it.
“I don’t trust you,” he said coldly.
He released her roughly.
I froze.
Eunice froze.
“D-Duncan,” she stammered, shock clear in her eyes. “I can’t believe you don’t trust me just because of an omega. A useless omega.”
My dad turned away from her and faced me instead, his expression calm but distant.
“Dad,” I said, my voice shaking. “Is she going to rot in there? What are we going to do?”
He sighed slowly.
“I’m afraid, Alice, it’s illegal to interfere,” he said. “Your friend killed someone. I can’t do anything this time.”
My heart shattered.
The words echoed in my head, heavy and final.
I can’t do anything.
I looked at Eunice again, and this time, she was smiling.
I knew she had won this round.
