Weeks later...
Life had been come complicated, Ever since I met Alpha Duncan Blackwood, nothing felt normal anymore.
The mate bond lingered like a shadow I couldn't escape.
I felt it in class.
I felt it when I woke up.
I felt it whenever my phone lit up with his name.
yeah...long story short, he collected my number.
After showering, i got dressed and headed downstairs.
Alice was already waiting for me..
"you're late," she complained.
I rolled my eyes," I'm two minutes late."
" That's still late."
i laughed and grabbed and apple before leaving.
The ride to school was quiet, too quiet. I spent most of it starring out the window.
When we arrived at the academy, my stomach immediately tightened.
vice chancellor Eunice blackwood stood near the entrance smiling.
God! I hated that smile.
" what does she want now?" I muttered.
Alice sighed," I don't know."
As we approached, Eunice spoked." Alice. my office now."
Alice frowned," why?"
" we have something important to discuss. family matter."
I didn't miss the strange look Eunice gave me before walking away. The look that made me skin crawl.
" Be careful." I told Alice.
she nodded, " you too."
Before following her aunt inside.
Math class dragged on forever, I couldn't focus. My thought kepts wandering to Duncan.
Half way through the class, I switched off my phone.
Ten missed calls.
From Duncan.
what does he want now?
Then a message appeared
" meet me at reservoir de hotel 9pm."
off course, our usual hook up place for the past one week
I and Duncan have been meeting at the hotel for
days now, whenever we need privacy.
Every meeting left me more confused than the last,
I told myself I should stay away from him, that this bond was dangerous and complicated and impossible.
The last time we had s*x, I had whispered to him that I can't keep doing this and this would be the last time.... He hadn't argued, he just stared at me with that unreadable expression that always made my heart ache before he devoured my lips back.
I smiled at the thoughts of his lips on my mouth, my thighs and different places. Before I could respond, the teacher called my name.
I quickly put the phone away.
After class ended, Alice still hadn't returned.
That wasn't like her.
I waited, five minutes.... Ten minutes.... Nothing
The hallways gradually emptied. Eventually I packed my bags and headed for the door.
That's when I noticed someone watching me.
wills.
A student from my mathematics class, someone who has also being obsessed with me but I didn't give in to him.
The moment our eyes met, he looked away.
weird.
very weird..
I ignored him and continued walking. The academy was usually quiet, most student were already gone. I turned a corner toward the library. Footsteps echoed behind me, I stopped.
The footsteps stopped too.
A cold feeling slid down my spine, slowly I turned around. Nobody.
My heart pounded, I started walking again, father this time and the footsteps closer.
so much closer.
Fear gripped my chest, I spunned around. " wills?"
He stepped from behind a pillar, his expression looking strange.
" why are you following me?"
instead, he kept waking toward me...one step, another. Instinct screamed at me to run.
" what do you want?"
still no answer.
The silence frightened me more than words ever could.
I backed away, he suddenly lunged....I screamed.
We both crash into a nearby storage room, I struggled widly trying to break free. Trying to escape. My wolf fought with me.
Adrenaline surged through my body, everything happening to fast.
A shove.
A stumble.
A loud crack.
Then silence.
My breathing became the only sound in the room .
Slowly, I looked up, Wils wasn't moving.
My blood turned to ice."No."
I crawled backward. "No. No. No."
His head had struck the edge of a metal shelf during the struggle.
He wasn't moving.
He wasn't speaking.
He wasn't breathing.
"Oh Goddess..."
Tears filled my eyes.
I hadn't meant...
I neve..
The door suddenly burst open.
My head snapped up, and my heart dropped.
Eunice Blackwood stood there smiling.
Actually smiling.
As if she'd been expecting this.
As if she had known exactly where to find me.
And in that moment...I understood.
This had been planned.
The strange look this morning...
Separating me from Alice....
The empty hallway...
Wils following me....Everything.
"Oh dear," Eunice said mockingly."What have you done?"
"You set me up. you f*****g set me up."
Her smile widened."I have no idea what you're talking about."
Then she pulled out her phone, and dialed.
Right in front of me.
"What are you doing?"
She looked delighted."Calling the authorities."
My stomach dropped."No."
"Oh yes."
The smile never left her face.
"Because it appears a student has been killed."
Thirty minutes later, flashing lights filled the academy ground. Student whispered, stared and judged.
The officers placed cold handcuffs around my wrists.
I barely noticed. I was still in shocked, stil trying to process what's going on.
Alice finally pushed through the crowd, her face was pale..
" iris!"
Tears streamed down her cheeks" Tell them you didn't do it iris. Tell them."
I couldn't.
The words refused to come.
Because of none of this felt real.
I had just been brought back to school and now jail.. yeah my life is over.
The officers began leading me towards their vehicle.
Alice tried following, a guard stop her" No!"
she struggled, " No! let me go."
it hurt, my chest hurt.
Everything hurt.
Then another realization struck me, Duncan.
He didn't know.
My mate didn't know..
But..even though he knows, this waa beyond everything, I killed someone.
The officers opened the vehicle door, I climbed inside defeated, terrified and broken.
This was worse.. and the worst part was that to the guy wasn't actually dead, cause I saw as they loaded him into an ambulance.
I think..
As the door started closing, I looked toward the darkening sky.
Toward the distant pack house.
Toward the one person I desperately needed, my voice cracked.
" Duncan...."
A tear slid down my cheek, " please come for me"
The door slammed shut and the vehicle pulled away.
