As he walked around the new environment though not so new to him, he was seeing it differently than when he came for his registrations. "OH! No", he exclaimed as the lecture room was filled to the brim already. "What a Monday morning" Nathaniel muttered. He obviously had heard stories about his present situation but was rather nonchalant about it. Just 6:45 and everywhere is choked up already. " God help your son please ", he said with a smile. He walked around hoping he could find space in the lecture theatre before the lecturer walks in, fortunately enough, God answered his prayers as he met a tall guy with long robes like a Muslim and a free chair to his right. Asking politely, Nath said " hey, good morning, can I sit here or it is occupied? ". He shook his head in the affirmative but that made Nath confused on which of the questions his nod answered, so he was specific this time, " May I sit next to you?". The guy looked up again this time beaming before he said "Sorry, you may sit", he bow his head almost immediately to continue reading.
Nath's POV
This guy is serious oh. Reading on the first dat of resumption. Nathaniel what are you waiting for?, I chuckled as I asked myself. But his is in the excess. This is ordinary GST I heard of before coming here, still it would be better if I see how everything is first before I begin to debate on what and what I should read or not. Let me try to make serious friends oh.
I then tapped him and trying to refine my English and to be as fluent as possible, I told him I was Nathaniel and I wanted to know his name also. Just like he awaited it, he replied instantly " I am Ibrahim Buhari, studying medicine what about you?". I told him we would be studying in the same department, after which we kept mute for a while.
Ibrahim's POV
Allah, I asked you to bring me a friend that will help me in my schooldays on my first lecture day at school. To my left is a half-n***d lady that I am sure you would not even advice me to look at. I still kept praying till this "Iyamiri Christian boy" came. You know how the lives of Christians contaminte we the Muslims and how we even kill them for always flaunting the Holy Koranic so please take control.
Immediately he asked for my name, I felt peace in my heart to answer and I did promptly, he must think so jumpy of me. We being in the same department is a good sign, so I decided to kill the silence making an attempt to know him more. I picked a discussion with him, asked him why he picked medicine and the type of surgery he would go into, we shifted to football, video games and other commonly related issues with guys. He seems like someone from a good background. All Christia cannot be so evil after all I thought.
As my dad is the Chief Imam, he's father is Big Pastor. I can't even call him Nath, the name in full brings out the true meaning. Nathaniel, the lecturer is here, talk over I said when the GST's lecturer came in, obviously late.
Ibrahim stayed on campus at the boy's hostel since he came from Maiduguri. Nath got his phone number in case he needed to call him, he also gave his out.
Later in the day, back in the hostel, Ibrahim concentrated more on his reading while Nathaniel got home and headed to Church after a little rest and eating for their daily evening service. After which, he narrated his first day at school's story for his parents. His father just advised him to always be a light to Ibrahim's darkness, bringing him to the fold of Christ should be one of his main reasons for meeting with him in school. Nathaniel just shrugged with a "Yes Sir".
Days rolled into weeks and weeks to months.
Nath's POV
This is the end of the first semester, the months had been long and not only strength taking but almost killing but for the mercies of God I have to admit. I remember during the exams, the surprised looks on Ibrahim's face that all the questions I ever say we should discuss before the exams are all that ever comes out. I never felt ashamed to tell him, it was always the Holy Spirit that ministered unto me. He even started following me to Church on non- activities days. Now the results are out in bits and Pastor Osaigewu is starting to change seeing I aced all my papers. Joy in my heart!!!.
