Moe's POV It was already night and it was terribly cold in this cells. I wondered how my baby was doing, definitely they wouldn't let a small innocent child get hurt right? I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to hold in whatever warmth I had left. The stone floor was freezing beneath me and the thin cloth of my dress did nothing to protect me from it. My cheek still burned from the slap earlier and my head throbbed where it had hit the wall. My throat felt raw from crying and screaming, and my whole body ached from being dragged like I was nothing. But none of that mattered. All I could think about was my son. Was he still crying? Did he finally fall asleep? Was he calling for me? Did they hand him to some random nurse without care? Did he look around for me with those silver eyes and wonder where his mother had gone? I pressed my palms against my eyes and tried not to break down again. They wouldn't hurt him. They wouldn't. No matter how much they hated me, he was still Alpha blood. He was still Damien's son. Right? That was when I heard footsteps coming to the cells. Light and unhurried footsteps. My entire body stiffened. Those footsteps were familiar. Even before the figure appeared in front of the bars, I already knew. It stopped right outside my cell and then that her devilish voice came. "How unfortunate a Luna is in the cells, dear Moe," her snaky voice said as she leaned closer to the bars. Laura. I didn't move. I didn't speak. I didn't even look at her at first. I just sat there on the cold floor, my back against the wall, staring at nothing. "You don't want to talk now?" she continued lightly. "I wondered how someone as pathetic as you was once my best friend." That made my jaw tighten. Best friend. The word tasted bitter. I slowly lifted my head and looked at her. She looked perfectly fine. No fear. No pain. No guilt. Her hair was neat, her clothes clean. Her hand rested gently over her stomach like she was already protecting something precious. I clenched my fists and said to her, "Keep playing your games, it'll consume you someday I promise you Laura, you want the Alphas? Of course you can have them, I don't even care just leave me alone Okay? I would stay out of your way." I forced back the tears that wanted to spill down my cheeks and breathed out slowly. I refused to cry in front of her. "But I don't want to leave you alone because you're already in my way?" I blinked up at her, confused. "How do you mean? You've gotten what you wanted right? Isn't that enough?" She shook her head slowly."No," she said calmly. "It isn't enough." My stomach tightened. "There's just one thing remaining," she continued. I felt something cold crawl up my spine. "What?" I asked, my voice barely steady. She touched her belly gently and smiled. "Your son," she said softly. "He's standing in the way of my own." Everything inside me exploded. Before I even realized what I was doing, I rushed to the bars and grabbed her hard through the space between them. My fingers dug into her arms. "If you dare hurt my son, I will kill you Laura," I said, my voice shaking with fury. For a split second, her eyes widened. Then she smiled. A slow, satisfied smile."Got you again," she whispered. My heart skipped. And then I saw it. In one smooth movement, she pulled out a small dagger from behind her back. My eyes widened."What are you—" Before I could finish, she grabbed my wrist with one hand and shoved me hard against the bars, pressing my body there so I couldn't move back properly. And then she turned the blade toward herself. "No!" I shouted. She sliced it across her hip quickly and sharply. Blood immediately soaked through her dress. And then she screamed. "Help me! Somebody help me!" The scream echoed loudly through the corridor. My mind went blank. "What are you doing?! Laura stop it! I didn't do anything to you! I haven't done anything to you! Why are you doing this!" But she didn't stop instead she dropped down dramatically as she shoved the bloodied dagger into my palms forcefully, closing my fingers around it. My hands were instantly covered in her blood. I tried to throw it away but everything happened too fast. The guards rushed in almost immediately. They saw Laura on the ground. They saw blood. They saw the dagger in my hand. I opened my mouth to explain, my heart pounding violently, but she cut in first. "I only came here to see her," she cried weakly. "I heard she was locked up by Alpha Dexter and Chase. I didn't know she hated me this much to the extent of stabbing me, she's my bestie friend and I love her." Her voice trembled perfectly. Her tears looked real. Her hand clutched her side so perfectly. I was shaking my head violently. "No! No! She's lying! She did this to herself! I swear I didn't—" But the cell doors opened before I could finish and I was dragged out roughly by the guards. My feet scraped against the floor as they pulled me forward. And before we could take two steps, Damien, Dexter, and Chase arrived. Of course they had been alerted. The instant they saw Laura on the floor bleeding, they rushed to her. All three of them. All at once. "Laura!" Damien's voice cracked in panic as he knelt beside her. Dexter and Chase were right behind him, their faces dark and furious. "What happened?" Chase demanded urgently. Laura cried harder. "I just wanted to see Moe," she sobbed. "I thought maybe we could talk. I thought she was my friend. I didn't know she hated me so much. I didn't know she would stab me." Every word she said was like poison. Damien's head snapped toward me. And I saw it. The coldest look I have ever seen in him before. There was no doubt in his eyes. No confusion. No hesitation. Only rage. In a blink, he was in front of me. He moved so fast I barely saw it. His hand shot out and grabbed my neck tightly. "How dare you!" he roared. His fingers tightened instantly around my neck. I gasped for air as he lifted me slightly off the ground. "I didn't do it!" I choked out desperately. "She did it herself! Damien, please listen to me!" "Shut up!" he barked, squeezing harder. My feet kicked helplessly beneath me. I could see stars forming at the edge of my vision. "You think I am stupid?" he growled. "You think I can't see what you're doing? You tried to kill her!" "I didn't!" I sobbed. "I swear on our son I didn't!" His grip tightened painfully at the mention of my son. "Don't you dare use that child to manipulate me," he snapped viciously. Dexter stood up slowly and looked at me with disgust. "She attacked a pregnant woman," he said coldly. "She has completely lost her mind." Chase's eyes were filled with fury. "We warned you," he said. "We told you to behave." "I didn't do anything!" I screamed, my voice breaking as Damien finally dropped me to the ground. I collapsed, coughing violently, clutching my throat. "She cut herself!" I cried. "She set me up! Check the dagger! She grabbed my hand and forced it—" "Enough!" Damien shouted, his voice echoing in the corridor. Laura whimpered on the floor. "Please don't fight because of me," she said weakly. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have come. I just thought maybe she would calm down." Damien rushed back to her and gently lifted her into his arms. The way he held her. Carefully. Protectively. Like she was precious. I felt like something inside my chest cut completely. "I thought you had at least some dignity," he said to me without even looking at me. "And you disappointed that, stabbing the woman carrying my child?" I stared at him in disbelief. "You never held me in any dignity if not you wouldn't believe and be blinded by her lies," I whispered. Dexter suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me up roughly. "You are becoming a danger to this pack," he said sharply. "A danger?" I repeated, my voice hollow. "For defending myself?" "For trying to murder an Alpha heir," Chase said coldly. Murder. They were calling it murder. I laughed weakly in disbelief. "This is insane," I said. "You all know me. You know I wouldn't do that." "We thought we knew you," Damien said darkly. The words hit harder than any slap. Laura reached out and touched Damien's chest gently. "Please don't hurt her too much," she whispered, playing the innocent role perfectly. "She's still my friend." I felt sick. Dexter looked at Chase. "This time, we cannot overlook it," he said firmly. Chase nodded. "She needs to be punished severely," he agreed. My heart dropped."Please," I said. "I didn't do this." Damien turned to me again. His face was completely void of emotion now. "This time," he said slowly, "you have gone too far." I shook my head violently."No. No, please. Think about our son. Please." "Do not use him again," Dexter snapped harshly. Chase stepped closer. "You are lucky we are even keeping you alive because of the bond," he said. "Otherwise you would already be exiled or worse executed." My knees buckled. Laura suddenly spoke softly from Damien's arms. "Alpha Dexter," she said weakly, "if she must be punished… may I… may I choose what happens?" Everything went silent. I looked up slowly. What? Dexter stared at her for a moment. Then he nodded slowly."You were the one harmed," he said. "You have the right." Chase crossed his arms."She needs to learn," he added. My blood ran cold. Laura lifted her head slightly and looked straight at me. And she smirked. Not the fake crying face. Not the innocent act anymore. A real f*****g smirk. She saw it. She saw my fear. And she enjoyed it. Dexter's voice echoed through the corridor."We're going to punish her terribly this time." He looked at Laura."You choose the punishment." And Laura's smile widened~
