Chapter 8: Narrow Escape

Leonard's POV

Waking up from my deep thoughts after the whole revelation from Bash, my legs were weak and I stood up dragging my feet to the door

On second thoughts, all I need right now is a phone, I need to reach out to mum and dad, I need to let them know Bash has gone Insane and my life is so much at risk here

I took a slow step back to my bed and pressed a button, a nurse came in, reading from her name tag

Becky, I called out, can I please make a call with your phone?

Yes sure, she responded

She handed me her phone and just as I was about to dial my dad, the doctor walked in

Oh! Mr Williams, you are awake, I can see you are looking strong,..

Turning to Becky he gave her a deadly glare, what are you doing here miss Red?

Oh! Mr Williams rang me, he needed my help placing a call to someone

Miss Red you are dismissed

As she made her way to the door, oh! and you are not to attend to Mr Williams anymore, I will assign another nurse to him, you may leave now

I was puzzled, but doctor she has not done anything wrong, I was the one who rang her and asked for her phone, am so sorry if that is against the rules here, you don't have to change her, her services to me is pretty ok

You don't have a final say in this Mr Williams, please just cooperate with me here, I do not want any problems, am just doing my job

Problems with who doctor?

I think I have said too much already, with that he gave me one apologetic look, and left, I could see fear and guilt in his eyes

Does this have something to do with Bash?

Did he threaten the doctor?

Am I under supervision?

The more I thought of this, the more my heart beat increases

I squeezed my palm to a fist and took in deep breaths, I need to gain control of my mental health, if I have to leave this place alive then I need a plan, and am not gonna be able to do that if I pass out yet again.

Bash's POV

Sitting in a comfortable couch puffing some smoke out of my cigar

I don't care if it's prohibited, am in kill mode at this point and my sanity has been flushed down the sink like waste

The doctor came back from Leonard's room

Opening his office door he was frightened seeing me there

Oh! How I love that look on his face, it shows who is in charge here and i just gave him a wicked smile

Mr Williams, I didn't know you were here, ho...ow did you ge.... et into my office? He stammered

I have my ways doc, I have my ways!

He stood there uncomfortably, loving the impact am creating in him

I stood up and strode towards him, giving him a small pad on his shoulders, I leaned in and whispered

Your wife and daughter will be waiting for you in a black SUV across the hospital building,

am glad you were wise enough to make the right decision, just make sure he has no interaction with anyone in the next 24hours until my men arrives, with that I gave a little mischievous bow and left his office

Third person's POV

Becky was just on her way to deliver some files to the doctor, on hearing the voices, she paused her movements and took some step closer to eavesdrop, not long enough the office door opened and she just stood there with the files in her hand,

Bash gave her a hard glare and she just She tried her best in putting on a cute smile devoid of suspicion, good afternoon Mr Williams, he just nodded and walked passed her

She watched him until he exited the building, then she walked back to Leonard's room and opened the room stealthily

She was shocked at the sight she saw, a strange nurse was injecting a substance into his system, she tiptoed out of the room and hid where she can have a better view of the nurse

The nurse came out seconds later and she looked at her chest and there was no name tag

Could this be her replacement the doctor had talked about earlier?

But why is she without a name tag?

Well, maybe they are trying to keep his services private

As she made her way back to the doctor's office, her guts kept telling her something was wrong, but she didn't want to be nosey, she had to mind her business if she needs to keep her job

Outside the hospital building, a lady could be seen tossing her nursing garment and gloves in a bin, she took long strides towards the black Mercedes-Maybach S 580 4MATIC

She opened the door and got in

The voice from the other end responded

Becky's POV

I finished my shift and signed out to go home, but my conscience kept judging me,

My mum used to say iam quite nosy and one day that might put me in trouble but I just hope today isn't that day

I changed into my regular cloths and left the hospital, I decided to take a short cut to the car park, I walked in between the fleet of cars when I stumbled on another conversation

I squatted down to prevent me from being seen, God!.. Why am i meeting so many unpleasant gatherings today

Lucky for me they were not whispering as they thought No one will hear them

Boss said we will be moving to room 115 disguised as doctors and roll the package out

But how do we do that without him raising an alarm?

We had already taken care of that part, he Is having a beauty sleep as we speak

We leave in 30mins guys, let's just wait for the signal

Could it be they are talking about Leonard??

The lady I saw wasn't an actual nurse, she had no name tag, I could be making assumptions but something in my guts tells me Leonard is in danger

What am I supposed to do now?

Should I call the police?? What proofs do I have? And the doctor is already compromised

My palms were becoming sweaty and I didn't have time to process.. I have less than 30mins to come up with a plan to save him

I crawled back to the hospital... Started an harmless fire and triggered the emergency alarm

Everyone was running helter skelter

Fire service appeared within a twinkle of an eye and I used that medium to slip inside Mr Williams ward,now how am I supposed to carry him out without being noticed, I racked my brains and got a bright idea

I once went shopping with my best friend and she picked a can of Atmosphere Aerosol, when I asked what it was for, she said it's a substance that gives a smoky effect, but non toxic and safe, she's planning to use it in her forth coming birthday party

So out of curiosity I picked one too for myself and after payment I just dropped it in my backpack and forgot...i think it's really going to come in handy today

I quickly reached for my backpack, thank God am no longer on my duty outfit, otherwise this backpack will be in the cabinet with my regular cloths

Bringing out the can, I positioned myself at the entrance of Mr Williams ward and sprayed some quantity, this will protect me from being caught on camera, what a brilliant idea

I walked to his bed, gathered all the strength in me and pulled him into the stretcher, pulled a blanket covering his head to toes

I pushed him through the corridor, spraying more Aerosol to create fog while I escape without being caught, if I can just manage to the car pack, I could drive him to safety before they even notice his disappearance

I got to the car park without being noticed and thanks to God my car was parked in a nice spot, I quickly dragged him into the passenger seat, took the driver's sit and stepped on the accelerator, I zoomed out with speed

Closing my eyes briefly I released a deep breath I didn't even know I was holding, what if am wrong, what if all this backfires, I waved that thoughts away the moment it came to my mind

After what seemed like five minutes drive, I had company, a black Mercedes Maybach was on my tail, my bad girl mode was activated and I strapped my seatbelt that I didn't even noticed I wasn't wearing, I stepped on my wheels and I was driving a speed I have never engaged in my entire life

The Maybach behind me picked its pace too and it really gave me no space, I quickly turned left surprising my attacker as he drove straight

I didn't even know where I was heading, all I wanted is to get to safety, I lost my chasers, but not for long, I could see the car behind me closing in, I turned around to look at the Leonard and he was still sound asleep, I sighed, he doesn't even know his life is at risk

I speed up and drive pass a traffic light, I did that on purpose, knowing if I beat the traffic, the cops will come after me and that might make my chasers back off

Just like I predicted, the police car was behind me, and I slowed down, I was parked, and I saw the Maybach drive in my direction, they parked just ahead of me, the car opened and a tall figure came out of the car wearing dark glasses and started taking gentle steps towards where I was parked

Hello ma'am, can you please step down from the car?

I just saw you drove pass the traffic and that's against the laws, the officer said

Please am sorry sir, my boyfriend is sick he passed out in my room and I was rushing him to the hospital when I realized a car was on my tail, that black Maybach that just parked there has been chasing me since and I was nervous, I drove pass the traffic on impulse, please am sorry, but I need your help, those guys are after me

The police officer looked at the black car and then back to me, the figure that was walking in my direction halted and took out his phone to take a call, the officer left me and walked towards him

I could hear them exchange some lines and I saw the officer walking back to me,

Young lady is that guy standing there your lover?

He says you two have been together for a year now and he has been out of the country, he just got back only to notice you are with another man and when he tried winning you back, you told him you have moved on, and he asked for you to return the necklace he gave you and you walked out on him and drove off, that is why he is driving after you

I just want to ask you this and I don't want you to lie to me if you need my help, is this true?

I shook my head in disbelief, officer I swear I do not know that man, I have never seen him in my entire life, he has been stalking me since I hit the road

The officer looked at me as if in deep thoughts and then asked me to come down, I was too frightened to, I told him I can't, as long as that man is still standing close

Young lady if you refuse to come down I will assume what the young man said is real, then I told him, officer my name is Becky Red, please go over to him and and ask him to tell you my name, if we have been in a relationship of one year he would know my name

The officer walked over to him and as they were still exchanging some lines, I saw another person step out of the black Maybach and went behind the police officer using handkerchief to close his nose and he slumped,

The moment I saw that sight I stepped on my wheels and sped up to God knows where, I could hear sirens blowing behind me and I was certain the police was after me, not quite long I saw the black Maybach drove pass me and police three police car after them while the forth car drove and blocked my view signaling me to halt,

I did and they came out of the car, young lady you are coming with us, I didn't even hesitate I stepped down immediately and I told them someone was behind my car and they took him out into the police van, I joined the van and left my car there, I couldn't care, all I wanted was safety for myself and the young man I just risked my life for.
