After I attended the lectures in the morning and negotiated the schedule for catching up with my lab work with the professors, I walked towards the gendarmerie. I could have hailed a cab, as it was far enough that it wouldn't be a total waste of money to go there by cab, but it was still close enough that you could walk there with enough time.
