Laura.
I headed towards Saskia’s house. It’s late, and the moon is shining so brightly as if she wants to guide me on my way.
Everyone is busy preparing for the Lycan Prince’s arrival, and yet, I choose this time to sneak.
But who could blame me? I couldn’t afford to be humiliated in front of the Prince. I knew those mean brats would make my life a living hell tonight. Especially Alaric and Ivy. So, before it happens, I had better do something now.
I already saw Saskia in front of her doorway even though I was still at a far distance.
“Come in.”
Saskia greeted me with a warm smile. But I don’t know why I feel something is off with her.
“I bet you are already waiting for me,” I commented as I continued to her living room.
I once more smell that relaxing scent I used to smell here. And she said that it was my scent.
“Because I know you will come,” Saskia teasingly glanced at me.
She was smiling yet still. Why do I have this feeling that it’s not what she really feels right now?
What? Do I have an emphatic ability now?
Ugh! That’s impossible. Maybe I was just nervous right now, that’s why I was overanalyzing.
Instead of joining me on her couch, Saskia chose to enter her kitchen. It was just divided by a bar counter from the living area. So, I can still perfectly see what she was doing.
And in an instant, she had already prepared two cups of tea.
Yeah. I need this. I was very nervous about this decision.
“Funny, you choose to disappear at this time when your pack is busy. Are you trying to hide from your chores?”
I can tell Saskia is trying to lighten the air. Gosh, I need to relax.
“Oh, please, Sas. You knew better.”
Saskia chuckled and handed me my cup.
“So, have you decided?”
“Certainly.”
“And?”
For a person who will do something very big, Saskia was the calmest. Or not? Something is really off. I can feel it.
She sips her tea and waits for my answer as if she was just having a nice conversation with me.
Well, it was a nice conversation, but it was way more serious than the usual chit-chat we had.
It holds my future.
“I wanted to mess with time, Saskia. Could you help me?”
Saskia puts down her cup on the center table in front of us.
“Are you sure about that?”
I nodded with full determination.
“How many times did you think about it?” She asked casually, as if she was just verifying what I requested.
“Many times. I don’t know. All I know is I am one hundred percent sure about this.”
Saskia gave me an intense gaze. The more I look at her, the more I feel something strange.
“You know, I once did this for a friend,” she breathed. “You must know that in every action, you have to bear the consequences.”
“Yeah, I understand that. I will be held responsible for my actions.” I strongly encouraged her to grant me her help.
Since I felt something was off, I feared that she was deciding to back off. And it can’t be!
“Please, show me the portal.”
Saskia suddenly took my hands and warmly squeezed them. This is the moment that she finally showed what she truly feels.
If she was calm just a while ago, now she is restless. And I don’t know why.
She was hiding this feeling from me from the moment I stepped inside her house.
Is that why I thought something was off with her?
“I don’t know what the consequences might be, but I hope it will not be as bad as hers.”
“Hers? Who?” I was confused as hell.
“That friend I was talking about.”
I suddenly wanted to know what happened to that friend of hers. And I think I don’t need to voice it out.
“She was killed from her past. She wanted to change her past, but unfortunately, things went wrong. I don’t want it to happen to you either. So…”
“Nah, that would never happen to me. I wasn’t born from the time I wanted to go. How come I would get myself killed from the time I wasn’t existing yet?”
Saskia smiled at me. But her worries never disappeared.
“So, you want to go to a time when you are not yet conceived?”
“Absolutely!”
Once more, Saskia gazed intently at me.
“What? Is there any problem?”
“I don’t know, Laura. I just have a bad feeling about this.”
“What do you mean?”
The last time Saskia talked about this option, she seemed unbothered. So, why is she suddenly giving me this vibe?
Did she change her mind?
“No, it’s nothing like that, Laura. You know that I would be happy to help you. You are my good friend. But the last time I felt this way, something awful happened.” Saskia released a frustrated sigh.
I had never seen her as restless as she was right now.
She is powerful. She even gained the respect of all the werewolves and Lycans. So, what must be the thing that would make her feel uneasy?
“It’s just that I felt something wrong was going to happen. Too bad I don’t have the power of a seer. I might have understood this restlessness.”
I breathed out loud. “Yeah, I could tell you are restless. But maybe because the first time you made a portal, things didn’t go as planned. But Sas, I wanted to gamble the chance.”
“Why don’t you just go to the future and see what is ahead of you?” Saskia tried to convince me.
“Nah! What must be ahead of me? I am an Omega now. I am sure I am still an Omega in the future. My wolf will never appear anymore since I have already passed my eighteenth birthday.”
Saskia sighed and did not say anything. I think she is still having second thoughts about making my request. And it frustrates the hell out of me!
“Saskia, please. Don’t do this to me,” I pleaded with her.
She is my last salvation. I am tired of having this lowly life. I am tired of being ridiculed and mocked by every mean pack member of my age. I know Alpha Evo forbids that, but those guys would still do it when the old ones weren’t on watch.
I don’t want to suffer anymore. I need to change my fate!
Saskia sighed heavily once more.
“Are you really sure about this?”
My eyes lit up as I heard those words. Hope rose up in me.
“Definitely! One hundred percent!”
Oh, please, Moon Goddess, help me. Help me change my fate…
