Anana clutched her ankle, rain dripping from her hair, lightning flashing above. Thunder rolled like the heavens themselves were watching. She remembered Lucien’s hands, the way he had once reset her twisted ankle. She clenched the small scarf tied around her wrist, bit down hard, and pressed her hands to her leg. With a savage twist, she shoved the bone back into place. Her scream ripped through the storm, muffled only by the scarf in her teeth.
