Aliyah stormed out of the training ground, her boots striking the earth with a force that rattled through her bones. Her fists curled at her sides tightly that her knuckles ached, her jaw tight. The words of those girls still rang in her head like poisonous echoes. “Who knows? Maybe her parents died because of her cursed nature too.” That was the one line she couldn’t swallow. It replayed in her head over and over again, slicing deeper each time. Her breaths came in short bursts, her body trembling with rage. She had made it halfway across the yard before she froze, the weight of realization hitting her. Her sword, she had left it behind. Turning sharply, she marched back into the training ground.
