"You’re lying," Riley rolled her eyes. Ethan hadn’t even been touched, yet he claimed he got hurt in the scuffle. "I’m not ‘mister’," Ethan snapped, jumping a little in frustration. "Fine, fine… then you’re ‘handsome guy,’ okay? Just hear me out." Riley smiled, hoping he’d accept her offer. "You mean… you want me to stay with you?" Ethan asked, intrigued. He hadn’t eaten a proper meal in days, let alone had a place to stay. "Not stay for free," Riley said, smiling. "I need a bodyguard. Someone with your skill. I’ll pay you." Ethan’s eyes narrowed. "You realize what you just offered me?" "Three hundred grand a year," Riley countered confidently. Ethan laughed. "Sorry… five million?" She nodded, a hint of irritation in her eyes. "I wouldn’t spend this much if it weren’t worth it. You’re the best chance I’ve got." Ethan nearly choked on his water. This girl… bold, smart, and… a total firecracker. "Your skills… tell me more," he said, grabbing her wrist playfully. Riley’s face twisted into a smile, sharp and almost mischievous. "Try me… but only if you agree to be my bodyguard and pass a few tests." Ethan shook his head, chuckling. "You’re crazy." "Crazy? No, you’re the crazy one thinking I’d make this easy for you," Riley shot back. Ethan frowned, realizing something: "Wait… are you saying… you’ve been poisoned or something?" Riley froze, eyes wide. "What? Poisoned? How did you—?"
