Chapter 8 ~ Grench Avenue

1289 Words
{Violet’s POV} Five weeks have passed and slowly the rumor about me forcing myself on the Angel of handsomeness was fading away. Once again, I had become the boring reclusive dweeb no one noticed. I had my old life back and honestly, it felt great. The pressure was gone, the judging gazes were gone, and the gossip were less. I was back to being a nobody. Yay. I had my ears plugged now. I was listening to Justin Beiber ft Quavo. ‘Intentions.’ Don’t worry, I wasn’t fantasizing about anything in the song. The girl Justin Beiber had described in the song was… Perfect. I wasn’t. I needed Picture filters… if you understand what I’m saying. Elsa appeared before me. We were in my Dorm room and I was on the bed. Camila and Jane were out for whatever dope reason. Elsa was yelling some words now and I couldn’t hear her but I also couldn’t pause the music ‘cause it was getting to Quavo’s part. The best part. No cap, no— She ripped the earpiece roughly from my ears. “Hey! Will you miss me?” Seriously? She interrupted me just to ask if I would miss her? But I would though. It was the end of the semester and she was going home— we all were, but I hadn’t packed my things yet. I was feeling lazy and home wasn’t exactly Disneyland. It wasn’t even close. “I’ll miss you, Elsa.” I said, standing up to hug her. She was the only friend I had made this Semester which, by the way, is my first semester in Wolfville, and she was worth ten friends. She had a sad look that matched mine as she pulled away from the hug. “When are you leaving?” She asked, referring to my idleness. The school was clearing out, everyone was going home and here I was… chilling. If I had my way, I would just hide here in my Dormitory and never return home. But then again, I had an escape plan. My mum was still admitted to the hospital, Caninus Hospital they call it. So I planned on staying with her. There was accommodation for visiting family members and in special cases, those family members would be allowed to stay for longer periods. My mum’s case was a special case. She had Scutlock, a deadly wolf disease so I could stay with her for a week… or an entire summer. Haha. But as much as this was an opportunity for me to escape from my family at home, it wasn’t great news as I could lose my mum before the end of summer. “I’ll leave once I’m able to force myself to start packing.” I said dryly and Elsa frowned. “But my procrastination won’t exceed tomorrow.” I added before she could lecture me. “It had better not exceed tomorrow, else the Janitors would kick you out themselves.” “That’ll be fun.” I mumbled but she heard me. “Violet!” She shot me a glare. “I’ll leave tomorrow, Elsa.” I smiled at her. “Anyways.” She mouthed as we started strolling out of my room. Her bags were outside. She had dropped them there earlier since she didn’t trust her roommates. Guess we both had roommate issues. “I’ll come visit you during the holidays.” She said, grabbing the handle of her huge Versace luggage pack. I grabbed hold of the smaller bag. “I won’t be home this summer.” “Why?” She asked, struggling to pull the bigger luggage. One of the wheels had broken. I was so happy she had left the smaller one for me to carry. “My mum, remember?” I reminded her. I discussed my staying in the hospital with her before. “Oh.” She remembered. We were out of the school now and in the parking lot. Strolling through the hallways was easier and faster since more than half of the school had left for their respective Disneylands. Liam Cornaro had gone home too. Else nobody would have left. “I’m sorry, V.” She muttered as we stopped by her car, her voice taking a calmer tone. “It’s fine. I’ll be fine.” I immediately responded. I was in no mood to get emotional. She smiled sadly and I immediately pulled her into a tight hug. Again, not in the mood for emotions! “Watch movies, eat fruit loops, stalk guys on f*******: but don’t give that guy too much attention.” I said into her ears. The guy part was about the Pro-shifter ranker she had told me liked her. “Boys are dangerous.” I added as I broke up the hug. I knew this because I had an ex and was once in a relationship, but that’s a story for another day. “Your mum—” I swiveled her around, opened up the door of her car, and shoved her in. Again, not in the mood for emotions! She gave me a weird look, but I was smiling. “Take out your keys and drive.” I told her. “Oh, I see. You have a boy waiting for you in the room.” She fake-gasped. “No wonder you don’t want to go home yet.” She fake-gasped again. “No wonder you’re suddenly chasing me.” She said and I laughed. I actually wished I did have a guy waiting. That would be nice. The cuddles, the kisses, the attention— Stop, Violet! “Have a nice holiday, Elsa.” I hope I will. *** I had bid Elsa farewell and had finally gotten the discipline I needed to pack up my bags. It was morning the next day and was in my car now— not the Ferrari, the beat-up car whose name I can’t still mention. And just to be clear, I didn’t have a Ferrari. My bags were in the back and some were in the booth. I might not have designers and chic drips but I had a lot of clothes. I mean a lot. Some students were around. Most of them were chatting and some of them were smooching near their expensive cars. There was music— a mini party. And even though I was in the parking lot, visually recording all their revelry, my presence wasn’t a problem. To them, I didn’t matter too much to matter at all. I started my car and the noise from the rattling engine filled the silence, causing the frolicking students to look at me. Look who finally claimed some attention for herself… me! The smoke from my rattling engine suddenly crept into my nose and interrupted my self-appraisal as I began coughing. The students laughed at me and then they continued their partying. *** I was finally on the road. The wind was streaming through my snowy hair causing it to cape backward and I felt free. I knew the ‘freedom feeling’ would be short-lived as my house was just around the corner. I lived in Grench Avenue— weird name, I know. It was located in the west part of Canisburg and my neighborhood was full of quiet and boring people. It was peaceful. But my house was the opposite. Speaking of which, my house was already in view. I could see Gwen outside, taking pictures for her i********: page. She had on a pink hair band, a dotted peplum crop Top, some sort of pants I couldn’t identify, some white sneakers, and a really proud smile. Did I mention that I had a self-centered Senior sister who hates me?
