NO ONE KNEW THAT RICHARD Foxxen and the billionaire Luke Fleming grew up as brothers.
Richard’s parents Harry and Elizabeth Foxxen worked in Japan for several years. Harry was a journalist and the Editor of an English newspaper, while Elizabeth taught English at a local school. When Richard was seventeen years old, his parents adopted a four year-old boy from an orphanage. The boy was of mixed race, and possibly was of American-Japanese descent. Mixed race children were called “hafu” and they had a difficult time growing up in Japan. The orphanage did not know much about the boy, but that he was abandoned on their doorway when he was a baby.
