Chapter 2

On the other end of the phone, Grace was overjoyed and her voice even trembled with excitement. "Parker West?" Selene looked at the ring on the table and suddenly realized that it was the same one she saw in  Parker's photos which were given to her at a socialite gathering. It was the heirloom diamond ring of the West family. Thinking about Pamela's visit to the hospital yesterday, Selene instantly understood Pamela had actually saved Parker West! Pamela had given her name at the hospital so Parker thought Selene was the one who saved him. She unexpectedly became Parker's "savior"! That was something more surprising than winning the lottery. "Mommy, I'm kinda busy right now, let's talk later." Selene suppressed her excitement and quietly took the ring from the table while Pamela wasn't paying attention. She then walked up to Pamela and said confidently, "If you do that again, be prepared to collect your adoptive parents' corpses then." And she left in a huff. Pamela just wanted to take a nap in the morning, but she ended up oversleeping. Right now she didn't have the energy to argue with Selene. She grabbed a mask to cover her face and rushed to the hospital to find that man in a hurry. He offered a billion! That was what she risked her life for. Hang it! When she asked the nurse at the hospital, she was told that the man had left immediately after waking up in the middle of the night without leaving any contact information. "Liar, Scum!" Pamela exploded in anger and stomped her feet. "That five thousand bucks medical fee is two months of my living expenses!" Sure enough, men's mouths are full of deceit. Not only did she lose the five thousand bucks she had for her living expenses, but also had to pay a hundred bucks more because she failed to deliver the food last night. She was already working part-time as a deliveryman, but now she ended up using all the money she earned during her two days off to pay the delivery platform. Pamela's heart was bleeding with regret. The world was too cruel, and she was still too young to fit in. In the following days, she worked harder every day at her day job and did part-time food delivery, while she had to make meals for her adoptive parents at the hospital. *Nightshade Bar* In her security uniform at a loose end, Pamela sat in the monitor room with her colleagues and complained, "If it wasn't for saving that ungrateful asshole, how could I be starving myself with just two meals each day for a whole week? I even lost weight for that." Since the car accident, her adoptive father was still unconscious, and her adoptive mother stayed attending him at the hospital every day. Although Selene's parents paid for the medical expenses, Pamela still had to bear a significant daily expenditure. But she had used the last $5000 for that asshole's surgery, and now she was struggling to make ends meet. "DThe uy you’re talking about, Pamela, what's his name and what does he look like?" Her colleague Jorden asked. Pamela shook her head. "I remember his face, but he was unconscious back then. How would I know his name in that... shoot, over there... did you see..." Pamela suddenly pointed at someone in the surveillance video. "That's him, that's him!" Slamming the table, she fumed, "You son of a b***h, I finally found you." She got up and walked towards the exit. "Pamela, wait." Jorden grabbed Pamela's wrist in disbelief and pointed at the person in the monitor, "Are you sure it's him?" "I'd recognize that bastard even if he turned into ashes." Pamela turned around and was ready to leave, but Jorden immediately stood up and blocked her way out. "Pamela, calm down. His name is Parker West, the heir of the West family, which was one of the four major clans in New York. He's ruthless and has killed peiple with his hands." "Parker West?" Pamela couldn't help but gasp. The club she worked at was one of the top money squandering dens in New York, frequented by businessmen and socialites, so she was familiar with Parker's name. "What kind of big shot he is? If he wanted to repay you, it would just be a matter of time. But he's not looking for you now, so he doesn't want to give you the money. Pamela, keeping life to yourself is more important than getting your money back. Just think of it as throwing five thousand bucks to the dogs." "But I..." Pamela was at a loss for words and she knew Jorden had a good point. But still, she couldn't accept this outcome. After leaving the monitor room, she asked around and found out that Parker was in Room 908. Pamela waited till 1 o'clock in the morning. Then she saw Parker in a black shirt walked out of the room and entered the elevator. She walked briskly and followed him inside. The first eight floors of the Nightshade Club were the bar, and the hotel suites were on the upper floors. Inside the elevator, Pamela cast a glance at Parker, who was half a head taller than her. She noticed alcohol reek emanating from him. His incredibly handsome face had a strange flush, and he occasionally tugged at his tie with his long fingers. Clearly he was drunk. "What floor are you going to?" Suddenly, the man asked in a cold voice. Pamela glanced at the number lit up on the button panel and said, "38th floor." As her words fell, Parker made no more response. Buzz- The elevator opened on the 38th floor. The man walked out, followed closely by Pamela. However, Parker suddenly stopped after a few steps, and Pamela accidentally bumped into his back. "Oops, sorry... um..." But before she could finish apologizing, the man in front of her turned around abruptly and grabbed her throat with his large hand. With a cold voice, he demanded, "Tell me, who the f**k are you?" "It hurts..." Unable to breathe, Pamela's brain was deprived of oxygen. She struggled against Parker's grip, pounding on his hand. "Let go of me, I... I can't breathe..." Hearing her words, Parker frowned, and he swatted away the security cap she was wearing. "You're a woman?" Because Pamela worked at a club, she disguised her appearance and voice as a man to avoid unwanted attention. Few others knew she was a woman aside from the manager and some staff members of the security department. "Yeah, yeah." "Tell me, who sent you?" "I... I just want..." Before Pamela could finish her sentence, Parker cut her off again, "You want to be my woman?" He had already noticed that the young security guard in front of him was acting all sneaky, and today's drink was definitely drugged. Sure enough, she was another woman trying to climb into his bed. Pamela was almost choked to death now. That bastard! How dare he repay me this way! She cursed angrily, "F... F..." Before she could finish saying the word "f**k," the man let go of her neck. Pamela's body went limp and she fell to the ground, gasping for air and coughing uncontrollably. It was then that she realized the entire 38th floor was filled with private rooms. The silver-gray cold color scheme revealed the luxury and high-end style. Looks like Parker had already found out about her.
