When I turned and saw that Ric’s mom was the one who just spoke, I was dumbfounded and tongue-tied. I just continued staring at her.
“ Would Cardo be okay? “ She asked again with worry evident on her face. That was when I regained my composure.
“ Uhmm, yeah, yeah. He’ll be fine, “ I lied to her with a smile and a look of assurance on my face.
That was all I could do at that moment. I didn’t want to make her more worried because I didn’t know for sure what was wrong with her yet.
I couldn’t possibly just tell her that her son was in a coma and we weren't sure when or if he would wake up. That would devastate the poor woman.
