Chapter 5

Serene

I have been exploring the caves.

Strangely I found that I was able to see quite clearly inside the darkness.

I also found a way to make fire and had finally managed to catch a fish.

But after eating it I literally vomited everything out.

I need to find a way out of this place.

Here days are 2-4 hours long and nights are 9-12 hours long.

Its not your average 24 hours.

And since I came here it seems like almost 6 months have passed.

I found a deep cave inside one of the tunnels and well I made this my new home.

It has a small hole in the top where the moon and sun comes in.

So in the day it brings enough light to see and also in the night.

I really missed my family.

My family..

My father and mother.

We weren't ordinary but at least I had a good home.

My parents rarely slept at night and also I almost never saw them eat anything but raw meat.

Yes... Weird but that's my favorite part about us.

I have a weird feeling sometimes that we aren't normal but I guess we all have a secret we hide.

Sitting in the cave my room.. I watched as the moon once again made its way over to me.

Night again.

But suddenly I feel extremely agitated.

I feel very, very hungry and the pain is extreme.

I fall over , clutching my stomach as I feel the blood rushed into my head.

"Serena... You must feed... Feed.. Anything will do... Just feed..."

The voice inside my head is so loud it sounds like someone was with me.

I looked around trying to find the voice but no one was there.

Suddenly I hear something moving outside, which by the way is nearly 2 miles away...

As if like lightning I am outside and something unfamiliar takes over.

Moments later I am covered in blood and squatting literally inside of a dead tiger.

The blood rushed into my veins and the pangs running to my stomach.

I come to my senses and fall flat on my ass.

The scene in front of me is crusom..

I burst into tears.

Whats happening to me.

Why...

Who am I...

Why is this happening?

I have some many questions..

Why were we taken from our school?

Who took us?

Where is everyone else?

That was the most I realized everything was wrong.

I was supposed to have my 16 th birthday the day after we were taken and now look at me..

I cried a while before heading towards the dead tiger.

The smell of blood sends me into a vomit frenzy.

I can't look at this.

I left the tiger there and ran back inside.

This was a nightmare, I am sure.

I had just reached my room when I collapsed.

When I wake up I was home..

Yes...

Or was this a dream to...

I see my father he was crying bitterly..

My mother was laying in bed bed her eyes closed.

"Daddy... Mom... Why.."

They can't hear me.

I run towards them but than my footsteps stop when I see a familiar face.

The man from that day.

He is holding a small book and he seems upset.

I watched as he and my father spoke.

Than my father raised his hand and was about to hit the man.

But my mother suddenly stopped him.

"He is her destiny... Once he is chosen no one can change that.. You know what happens if you interfere..."

Thats all she said before I woke up.

It was all a dream.

I am still covered in blood and still stuck in this god forsaken place.

I feel tears drip down my chin.

What's happening...

Why me...

I get up slowly and make my way to the waterfall.

I had torn the towel into two pieces and used it as a skirt and top to cover my body.

Back home this was really not my style and in the 20 th century girls loved this but not me I was a jeans and tshirt girl.

I slowly stepped into the water and took of the material from around my body.

Washing it while also scrubbing my body.

I got out and a deep sense of relief rushed over me.

Maybe I should just enjoy being alone.

Here I am free..

No one to tell me anything and here I make the rules.

From this moment on I will live like there is no tomorrow..

Wild, naked and free...

And hungry..
