"So b***h, your big day huh?" Her raised eyebrows conforming it to a question.
Pouring another shot of whiskey, I looked at her through my eyelashes. My honey-blonde waves caved my face in as I looked up.
"No," I rolled my eyes as I dragged out the 'no' in a sarcastic manner.
"f**k off, you liar. We all know you're gonna get married any day now. And that, to an alpha," she raised her glass full of liquor above her head with a raise of her brow, a smirk playing on her lips. "Scored the bullseye, ay Aulora?" She winked.
"Oh you know Mila, that's just how it is." My lips slightly curved upwards,"why, jealous?" I raised a brow and chuckled.
I knew my friend was no where near jealous as I was very well aware of her hatred for long term relationships.
Mila was happy with only those meaningless one night stands, where feelings were not concerned. She knew that feeling was that one b***h that messed everything up.
"What if I was?" she teased, "afraid I'll steal your man with my good looks?" Mila flicked her hair back with her hand.
Not even a second passed and both broke the heavy silence with our laughter.
"You? Oh come on, that joke is too far gone," I said snickering.
"Agreed," Mila piped in.
A comfortable silence surrounded us. I lifted the glass to my lips and let the cool liquid slide down my throat.
I looked around the fimiliar room that belonged to Mila for over years now. It had changed since Mila first claimed it as her own.
Now, it had dark brown walls with golden lights that lighted up the room magnificently. A queen sized bed took its place in the middle with two bedside tables on either sides. Two doors in total were in her room, one which lead to her own separate bathroom and the other one lead to the closet. Off to one corner was a sofa with one small coffee table.
"Aulora, are you happy?" This sudden question made me scrunch my eyebrows.
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" I couldn't help but chuckled.
"Just making sure." Mila finished the last of her drink and placed the glass on the bedside table before flopping right down on the bed. She was feeling drowsy after those many drinks we'd snuck in today.
I was in a similarly drunken state. Looking at Mila all comfortable and cozy in her bed, obviously worn out, I decided to take my leave. It was already late.
"Okay Mi, I guess I'll see you tomorrow, then." I started getting up from the bed but lost my balance, swaying side to side. My drunken state doesn't do me well.
"Lora, don't leave me," Mila reached out to pull her back but I was already at the end of the bed.
"Oh darling, I'll see you in the morning. Don't worry," I assured her, pulling the blanket on top of Mila's half dozed off body.
Mila hummed in response.
I smiled and turned off the lights before leaving the room and closing the door behind me.
The effect of alcohol on my body caused me to stumble down the hallway and carefully up the stairs towards the direction of my room which was on the top floor of the pack house.
I was on the few last steps when my eyes spotted the handsome young man.
"Hello there," my drunken self winked at him.
I saw as his eye widened upon seeing me.
"Lora, are you drunk?" he asked in disbelief.
"That's a stupid question." I giggled.
"Are you seriously drunk on a weekday? You had training early morning." He said, taking a step towards me.
"Well-" my words were cut off and were replaced by a gasp as I missed a step, losing my balance and falling backwards.
I awaited the hard suface of the stairs but it never came. Everett was fast enough to grab my wrist.
I just giggled and Everett tried to seem angry but failed miserably as he smiled.
"You, my love, are insensible." He pulled me up and wrapped his arms around my waist and under the knees, picking me up bridal style before any other accidents could take place.
I was quick enough to wrap my arms around his neck as he carried me to our room.
On the way, I gawked how handsome he was. Dark black hair and light blue eyes. A perfect combination that suited his well sculpted face. It made me sigh dreamily.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath taking in his scent. I tried to stay awake until we reached the room but my eyes got heavy and closed of their own accord and I fell into a deep slumber.
Everett P.O.V.
I looked down at my green-eyed beauty to find her now asleep. I felt her shift in my arms and could now feel her warm breathing tickling the side of my neck and I sighed. It was nice knowing that she was safe in my arms.
I walked the rest of the way in peace and silence until we reached the double door that lead to the Alpha's room. I didn't pass a single glance around and walked straight to the king sized bed, gently lowering my body so I could lay Aulora down in the comfort of the sheets.
I covered her up with a thick duvet and stood straight, taking in all she had to show. Her hair created a halo around her face in a beautiful sense. She truly did seem like a stunning angel from the heavens above. Her features were breathtaking prove of that.
A smile made its way to my lips, knowing that this marvellous creation was mine and we were soon to be married. It did pain me to know that I wouldn't be marrying my mate but this had to be done. I couldn't wait any longer as my pack needed a luna quick with all the troubles going around. They are murdering everyone in sight and slowly moving towards my pack. I can't put my people's life at risk. Only a luna would make me strong enough to fight them and if it has to be Aulora, so be it.
With one last look at her peaceful state, I backed away and out the room, walking back to my office to attend matters at hand, and hoping, for her sake, she wouldn't have an alcohol-induced headache the next morning.
