Pushing open the thick glass door, Sophia Gu unexpectedly saw Chief Designer Chang Li, who usually arrived later than she did. Seeing everyone's eyes fixed on her, she looked bewilderedly at her colleagues, their expressions indifferent. Then, with a soft smile, she calmly called out to the man in his forties, dressed fashionably but with a serious, slightly puffy expression, "Director, good morning!" Outside, Sophia Gu exuded a subtle air of casualness, unlike the cautious demeanor she had displayed at The Gu Family. "Morning?" The director frowned, pointing at the clock. "It's almost lunchtime!" Sophia Gu blinked her bright eyes, smiled faintly, and nodded in agreement. "Well, I've been browsing the market all morning, so I'm hungry!" The director stared at her suspiciously. "Are you all done?" Sophia Gu nodded, pulled out a small, off-white square booklet from her bag, and handed it to the director. With a humble, cheerful smile, she said, "I went to the market this morning to select materials, and we've basically finalized everything!" "That's good!" The director took it. Inside were small pieces of fabric, roughly the size of a palm. He casually flipped through them, and his stern expression finally softened a bit. "The president is back in China, and while he may not come to inspect us, you all need to be alert. I don't want anyone late during this period. Also, hurry up and prepare the fashions for next fall!" "Okay," Sophia Gu nodded, clearly addressing her. Sophia Gu's company wasn't part of The Gu Family, but a newly established company that had emerged a few years earlier. The advantage of a new company is its daring to innovate and strive for progress, perfect for a fresh graduate like her, full of ideas and open to experimentation. Over the past few years, the company has established a reputation, expanding from directly operated stores in the city to nationwide, and also attracting more and more franchisees. She had to admit, the company's CEO was quite capable; her market insight, courage, and skill were all admirable. She'd heard that the CEO had built his business from scratch. But none of this mattered to her. She was just a designer, solely focused on doing her job. Although she wasn't the head designer, she was the designer with the most orders each quarter, after head designer Chang Li. She was a cash cow, and several companies were already trying to recruit her. Unless she made any major mistakes, the managers turned a blind eye to Sophia Gu's lateness and early departures. Besides, a fashion designer shouldn't just stay in the office all day writing and drawing; she'd be out and about, seeking inspiration. It's just that Sophia Gu arrives later than the head designer every day, and she's unintentionally offended a few people. For example, no one informed her of the design director's inspection today. Her gaze shifted to Chang Li, and she saw her pointed chin tilted upward in disdain. A soft snort escaped her nose, and her brightly painted eyes rolled back as she rolled her eyes at Sophia Gu, a hint of boasting and complacency in her proud gaze. This kind of thing happened all the time in the office; it was perfectly normal. From scrambling for positions like pattern maker to assistant, Sophia Gu was already accustomed to it and didn't take it seriously at all, grinning at her innocently. Chang Li snorted softly, twisting her waist slightly, and continued talking to the director. At this point, the others had no room to interrupt, which was a testament to her superior status in the company. She held several design drawings in her hands, her arms folded across her chest. Her delicate sternum protruded, her collarbones lifted, and a thin platinum necklace dangling from her chest only accentuated her slender figure. Her clothing further accentuated the now-popular, bony aesthetic. Chang Li had woken up early today, a rare occasion. She had heard that the company's CEO had studied abroad several years ago and would be returning soon. The CEO had co-founded the company with a friend while still a student, and he had invested a great deal of effort in it. After establishing a successful market, he resolutely handed the company over to the director and left for overseas work. This suggests that the CEO's age should be no older than the director's. She was already 28 years old and a well-known figure in the industry. She was a well-known talent, having graduated from one of the nation's top art schools and won numerous prestigious domestic awards. She was also beautiful, but she was always arrogant and overly concerned with appearances, which is why she remains single. Like Sophia Gu, they were two of the company's most notorious veterans, practically never failing to be late. Sophia Gu was a bit better. After all, she was young, inexperienced, and less arrogant. Everyone in the company knew she had a habit of gluttony and oversleeping. Furthermore, her quarterly order numbers were there, so even if someone disagreed, they would simply point the finger at Chang Li, who was even more arrogant and assertive. At least she punched her time card every day, while Chang Li was practically on par with the general manager. Chang Li knew all this, but she was arrogant and simply disdained the glances of others. Perhaps this was the inherent arrogance of artists, and she enjoyed the unkind looks without a care. In the face of absolute strength, any small-time villains were merely a reflection of her strength. And when such a position was threatened, people instinctively chose to attack. That's how it was in the office, especially among a group of girls; the intrigues were truly entertaining. Sophia Gu started interning at this company before she even graduated from university. She initially worked as an assistant, essentially doing odd jobs. Every designer there had her at their beck and call. But no one could have imagined that within a year, she'd become a designer like them, even with her own assistant. The company had five designers in total. Besides the head designer, Chang Li, the other three, including Sophia Gu, were ordinary designers. One of them was a male designer whose appearance was indistinguishable from his male gender, and another was an intern. Chang Li was a well-known figure in the industry, with two assistants alone. Sophia Gu and the male designer each had one.
