Derek Gu lay familiarly on the large, not-so-plain bed, his hands clasped behind his head. He looked up at her, his tone a bit heavy, "I knocked!"
Sophia Gu held the clothes in her arms, stretched out her slender white fingers, and pinched Derek Gu's pale face. Pulling hard, she said softly, "Derek Gu, I'm a grown-up woman now."
"What's wrong with being a grown-up woman? She's still my sister!" Derek Gu angrily yanked the clothes off her arms. "What are you trying to hide? What part of you haven't I seen?"
Sophia Gu angrily flicked his head. "If my future husband hears that, he's going to misunderstand!"
Derek Gu jumped up in anger, scowling as he went into the bathroom to run the water for her. He watched her for a long time, but she didn't seem to continue undressing.
The two had been inseparable since their mother's womb, sleeping together, bathing together, and even having all her underwear hand-picked by him. She was a lazy person, uninterested in these trivial matters, wishing everything were taken care of by someone else, so she could just wake up, eat, and then just be content.
And that was indeed how she lived her life, quietly and transparently, pampered by him. From doing homework as a child to filling out college applications as an adult, he took care of everything, never separating them. Yet, she didn't know when it started, but she would smile and knock before asking him to enter her room, and she wouldn't undress in front of him.
He leaned against the door quietly, watching her. His features resembled neither his father nor his mother, but rather his grandfather's. His brows were clear, his eyes as bright as a gurgling stream, his nose was straight, almost ruthless, and his lips were plump and soft like a red, wild persimmon from the countryside.
Grandpa's gaze was reserved yet sharp, while hers was always bewildered and confused. Her reactions were always a beat, sometimes even several beats, slower than others. She never understood the sarcasm or threats, and with a silly smile, she would unknowingly infuriate those who bullied her to the point of vomiting blood.
He tested the water temperature, quietly left the bathroom, and casually sat on her bed. "Sister, you better hurry!"
I watched her slowly walk in, closing the frosted glass door. I could vaguely see the movements of someone undressing inside. Soon, the gentle sound of water filled my ears.
"What's going on?" Her voice was still slow and lazy, not at all anxious.
"It seems the Lu family is planning a marriage alliance with ours. I wonder what Grandpa is thinking!" Derek Gu explained slowly, his gaze fixed on the blurry figure in the bathroom. He frowned and said, "The Lu family's primary business is overseas. Grandpa might want to use them to expand into overseas markets!"
"Second sister seems very interested in that man."
"I think she's more interested in the Lu family's overseas influence!"
"No wonder she's so excited!" Her voice was as lazy as a dozing cat, soft and indifferent. "There are so many outstanding sisters up there, and she's the one favored by the Gu Family's most powerful woman. Well, it's none of my business anyway!"
She said she dozed off, but after a while the bathroom was silent, the bustling sounds of scooping water were gone, leaving only the low hum of the automatic circulator regulating the water temperature.
She lay quietly on the elegant lavender bed for a while, then familiarly opened the closet, took out a large bath towel, and opened the bathroom door.
The bathroom was very simply furnished. The milky white porcelain washbasin cabinet had sleek lines, accented by lavender striped tiles. On the non-slip floor lay a pair of bright red slippers, embroidered with two connected hearts, one with the words "blind date" embroidered on it, the other with "love." He had chosen these shoes specifically for her. At the time, she had pouted and lazily complained that they looked too festive, like something a bride would wear at a wedding.
Two feet from her shoes lay the nearly two-meter-long bathtub. Bubbles bubbled from one end of the tub. A delicate white foot rested lazily on the opening of her trachea, enjoying the massage of the bubbles. A lavender towel covered her slender calf, revealing her rounded shoulders and arms as white as jade.
The water reached her delicate collarbone. She leaned her head back against the leather pillow in the tub, her small chin slightly raised, her neck gracefully stretched, and a few water droplets clung to it.
Water droplets also clung to her eyelashes. Unlike her other sisters' delicate curls, hers were untouched, a bit messy, sharp as a sword unsheathed, pointing diagonally downward, completely covering her pupils beneath her lids, leaving only a faint smile.
At this moment, her brows relaxed, her usual innocent, smirk gone. She lay quietly in the rippling water, like a shimmering pearl newly born from a clam.
Derek Gu placed the towel in his hand on the wooden shelf. After scrubbing it repeatedly with his slender fingers, he used his feet to maneuver the soft leather stool to the end of the tub and sat down, gently pressing her temples and head.
He had grown accustomed to her ability to fall asleep at any time. She had no concerns, and she was content with nothing more than eating and sleeping. She could always live a carefree life, even ignoring her grandfather's words and drifting off to sleep as if nothing had happened.
Derek Gu's eyes were filled with a smile. She was only so defenseless when he was around!
And no matter what disrespectful behavior she committed, someone would always find an excuse for it. She had used that excuse for over twenty years.
The atmosphere in the living room was relaxed. The Gu Family's daughters, each intelligent and capable, adjusted the mood perfectly, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
The housekeeper respectfully approached Old Master Gu: "Master, dinner is ready!"
Old Master Gu nodded slightly and said solemnly: "Go and call the young master down!"
'Passerby A' looked refined and handsome, with rimless glasses perched on his high nose. His eyes, as if dripping with ink, were filled with a smile, gleaming with the warm luster of a fine inkstone.
He pursed his thin lips gently, his lips curling up in a sexy curve like a pull-up: "Aren't you waiting for Miss Nine?"
