Chapter 51- It's A Date

“Are you okay, Bestie?” Athena worriedly asked. She keeps on caressing Cytherea’s back, hoping that it will give her comfort. “You want me to get you some water?” she offered.

“No, Bestie but thank you. Why is that officer asking me that kind of question? Why do I feel like I’m one of their suspects?” Cytherea couldn’t help but voice out her thoughts. She runs her fingers through her hair.

Ares’ death is already taking a toll on her and now for Carlos. He didn’t even know the guy but since she was one of the few people that he last spoke with, she was in this situation.

She desperately sighed. These things that are happening to her are giving her a headache.

“Don’t think too much about it. I was with you the whole time besides there are security cameras in the hotel that would show that you didn’t get out of the room. So if they’re accusing you of something, they don’t have any basis. Besides, you should be the one to file a case against Carlos. What he did to you was harassment!”

Cytherea bites her lips and lets go of Athena’s hand. She crossed her arms across her finger and leaned her back against the backrest of the couch. Athena on the other hand stood up and sat beside her. She clung her arms to Cytherea’s arms and leaned her head on her shoulder.

“Everything’s going to be alright, Bestie,” Athena whispered. “We should still need to push our plans today. If we didn’t go, I guess the police would continue thinking that they are correct with whatever theories that they have. That you know, you are busted.”

Cytherea looked at Athena and sighed. “I guess you are right. They will for sure think that I’m guilty if we didn’t do what we have planned today. My god! I didn’t even know Carlos. We might have talked a little bit but that was it. It was just two occasions,” she whined.

“So, that’s why you need to move and take a shower. Good thing that you are still beautiful even in your pj’s. You are still presentable while talking to the police earlier and Gaus.” Athena stood up and grabbed Cytherea’s hand and pulled her to stand up too.

Cytherea chuckled when she realized what Athena had said. “Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed. Her jaw dropped and her eyes widened. “I didn’t even realize that I was just wearing my pj’s!”

Athena laughed at Cytherea’s reaction. “Nah, that’s okay. You are still beautiful though,” she told her while still pulling her hand but Cytherea wouldn’t just budge.

Their tag of war was stopped when Gaus spoke. They didn’t even recognize that he was already in the living room with them.

“Are you okay, Cy?” he worriedly asked.

Cytherea stood up right away and faced Gaus who was looking at her worriedly. Suddenly, Cytherea got conscious about how she looked and constantly touched her hair who was just falling freely on her shoulders.

"Ummm, yeah I'm good," she answered, smiling.

"That's good. Sorry, I was not able to give you a heads up about the police. I thought they just wanted to ask me about Carlos until they told me that they wanted to talk to you," he explained in a low voice. He was looking softly at her.

"Nah, that's okay. You just did what you had to do. So, no worries. Don't think about it." Cytherea smiled at him.

Gaus' face brightens up as he sees Cytherea smile. His heart starts to beat erratically. He was so relieved that Cytherea is not mad at him. He smiled.

Athena looked at the two who looked like they were in a love spell. She secretly smiled. It was so obvious that both of them are falling for each other but it seemed like Gaus doesn’t have any courage to let Cytherea know about his feelings.

She looked at Gaus intently.

Gaus is sweet and caring aside from the fact that he came from a decent family. He is also rich and she can tell that he cares for her best friend so much. Then, she remembers Ares. She felt a pinch in her heart when he remembered him again. Just like Gaus, Ares also cares for Cytherea so much. He would always tend on her whenever and whatever case may be. No matter how busy he is, he would always give time to Cytherea. And then, there’s Lemnos...

She sighed.

How can Cytherea get the attention of all these men? All she has to do is smile and these men will lick her feet. But her… she had to seduce the man she loved so much to get his attention. She needed to work so hard, so hard that she ended up betraying her own best friend.

But what did she end up getting in the end? Nothing. Nothing but heartaches and regrets.

Cytherea immediately looked at Athena when she heard her sighed. “Are you okay, Bestie?” she worriedly asked. She saw a hint of sadness on her face that immediately disappeared when Athena faced her and smiled.

“Nope, I’m perfectly fine.” She looked at Gaus and said, “Would you like to join us? We are going to do some shopping and if there are good movies we might end up watching it too.”

Gaus looked at Cytherea and then Athena. He wanted to say yes but he is hesitating that Cytherea may not be comfortable with the idea. Athena immediately saw his hesitation and flung her arms to Cytherea’s arms. She shook her arms a little bit and said like it was almost pleading, “Bestie, you don’t mind having him around, right?” Athena smiled widely.

Cytherea looked confused about what to say. She stared at Athena and it suddenly hit her. Athena wanted to be a cupid! Her eyes widened as the realization hit her. Athena was just smiling widely and was giving her puppy-dog eyes.

“Athena!” she firmly whispered, trying so hard not to yell at Athena for her craziness but Athena just giggled.

“Bestie, please? Pretty please?” she pleaded while biting her lips.

Cytherea shook her head and looked at Gaus who was just staring at them, obviously waiting for her reply.

“Ummm… would you like to come?” she asked. Her face was flushed in red.

“Yes!” Athena squealed.

“Sure!” Gaus immediately answered. “I mean if you don’t mind, of course,” he said scratching the back of his head.
