“It’s good to see you again, Cytherea,” Lemnos greeted as soon as Cytherea reached the table he reserved for their meeting. He reached his hand to offer Cytherea a handshake which she gladly accepted.
Gaus called him the other day and told him that Cytherea agreed to his offer of helping her. They have decided to meet in a coffee shop. The same coffee shop where they first met. In front of it is the open restaurant that has a live band playing.
Cytherea was so beautiful in her simple white flowy dress that has some flowers printed all over it as a design. She looked like a goddess who just got down from Mt. Olympus.
And even though she was together with Gaus, he felt like time stopped as she walked towards him. He couldn’t see anyone but her. It seemed like it's only him and her in the restaurant. His heart beats faster as her long brown hair blows in the wind. It’s like the angels in heaven are singing hallelujah as he stares at the sexy innocent look that she makes every time she tucks her hair behind her ear.
He couldn't take his eyes off her even though she was already in front of him. Her aura deems attention. Gaus pulled a chair for her before sitting beside him.
Cytherea smiled at Gaus. Lemnos blinked a couple of times so that he could get back to reality. Cytherea’s look today just made him travel to a wizardry world where magic and spells exist.
“Gaus told me that you are willing to help me out and before anything else, I just want to say, ‘thank you’ for helping me out,” Cytherea said while smiling at him.
Lemnos cleared his throat. “Of course, I heard what happened to Ares and I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sorry I was not able to attend the funeral. Things just get crazy for me.”
“Oh no, you don’t have to apologize. I understand you are a busy person, and spending time with me to help me out is such great honor. Thank you so much," she sincerely said.
Lemnos blushed. He is not used to getting compliments from a woman. Even though a lot of women are trying to woo him, no one succeeded. No one was even successful in being near him.
Gaus looked at Lemnos and he knew right away what his friend's look meant. It's the same exact feeling that he has every single time Cytherea smiled at him. For some odd reason, the green-eyed monster inside him wants to be unleashed.
Gaus cleared his throat to get their attention and ignored the foreign feeling that's building inside him. He felt like he was nonexistent to the two people as they were talking to each other.
Cytherea and Lemnos looked at him. Cytherea looked worried, while Lemnos looked confused.
He awkwardly chuckled and said, "Umm, let's order first before we get into it?"
Lemnos laughed. "Oh yes, yes. I'm sorry I forgot we hadn't ordered anything yet." He raised his hand and signaled the barista. The barista went to their table and took their order. It was mocha frappe and strawberry chocolate moist cake for Cytherea and both two-shot espresso for Gaus and Lemnos. The barista already left, and they were still quiet. No one tried to break up the silence… until Cytherea did.
"Both of you don't like cakes?" Cytherea asked. She put her right elbow on the table and supported her chin using her hand.
“I’m not really a fan of cakes,” Gaus answered. “Maybe I was so used to eating it before, but when I reached this age, I no longer wanted it.” He chuckled.
Cytherea smiled and looked at Lemnos. “How about you, Lemnos? Don’t you like cakes too?”
“I do. It’s just that today, I prefer not to eat any cakes-”
“Well, that’s because your cook at home bakes a very satisfying cake.” Gaus cut him off, laughing.
Lemnos shyly smiled and scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
“Is she an excellent baker?” Cytherea curiously asked.
“Oh, you mean he. His baker is he,” Gaus answered again. He was not letting Lemnos speak. Lemnos looked at Gaus. He is confused why Lemnos is acting strange. He shrugged and just ignored the negative thought in his head.
“Oh, really? That’s interesting," Cytherea commented. Baking is one of her hobbies, and before, she always baked for Ares, most especially during special celebrations.
She sighed. She remembered the pain of losing Ares again.
“He is my all-around assistant. He does everything for me-" Lemnos stopped when she noticed Cytherea's reaction. She suddenly became sad when he was talking about his assistant. "Are you okay, Cytherea?" he asked worriedly. She was smiling earlier, and now she looks like she's hurting. He felt a pinch in his heart while looking at her sad expression.
Gaus also looked at Cytherea. He was looking at Lemnos while the latter talked and didn't notice the sad expression on Cytherea's face.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine. I just remembered something." She smiled forcibly.
"I'm sorry, did I say something that might offend you?" Lemnos worriedly asked.
"Oh, no, no, no. I just remember something. You didn't offend me or anything like that." She waved her hands a couple of times to dismiss the thought that she was offended by Lemnos.
Lemnos took a deep breath as a sign of relief. " Whew! I thought I said something wrong."
Cytherea gave him a reassuring smile. "Nah, I-I just remembered Ares. You see, I always baked for him during special occasions. Up until now, I'm still struggling. The pain is still fresh. So don't worry, it's not about something you said."
Suddenly, the barista arrived with their order. They found out that the barista is also the owner, and if her employees are busy, she also takes the order.
They were enjoying their coffee and for Cytherea, her cake too. They were just chatting about something that interests them, and Cytherea felt that she found new friends in the two guys. Suddenly her phone beeps, indicating that a message just arrived. She took her phone and read the message.
I'm still watching you, My Queen.
