Chapter 57

1012 Words
Tonight is the night. Gaus is getting excited about his first date with Cytherea. He's ready and on his way to pick up Cytherea. He had to go home to his mother's house to change and get ready. To prepare for this date, he went to a barber's shop to get a clean haircut. He even shaved his stubbles to look more presentable. He was wearing a white long sleeve t-shirt and blue jeans and partnered his outfit with white Fiba sneakers. He also ordered a big bouquet of red roses which he had to pick up in a known flower shop. When he felt that everything was good. He drives his car towards the Emerald Hotel. He looked at the time on his Rolex watch and it's already 6 PM. He has to be at the hotel by 7:30 PM. The hotel is not too far from his mom's house but since it's an hour he might catch up in the traffic, most especially that by this time, people are now going to the bars to have a good time. And just what he had suspected, he was caught in a traffic jam. People are trying to get home to their families and some wanted to party. He was tapping the wheel of the car. He's getting impatient with the traffic. He just wanted to park his car on the side and get on his feet to walk his way to the hotel if only it was not three blocks from where he was. He looked again at the time. It's already 6:30 PM. He was about to turn his car to park on the side when finally the traffic moved. It was already 7 PM when he finally reached the hotel. His heart starts beating faster again as he walked towards the elevator while holding the bouquet. People were looking at him as he passed by even the employees of the hotel. They are probably curious why he's holding a big bouquet of red roses because usually, he would bring Astilbe flowers and blue roses for his mother. And this is the first time they've seen him bringing this kind of flowers. He ignored their looks and just went ahead and got into the elevator as soon as it opened. He was alone in the elevator and as soon as he got closer to the top floor his heart beat even faster. He can literally hear the sound of his heart that looks like it's about to come out of his chest. He took several deep breaths and punched his chest hoping it would calm his heart down. After a while, the elevator door opened. He took a deep breath once again before going out and headed towards his office. He doesn't understand why he has to feel this way. It's not like he's doing a very important business deal and that he had to perform well to get it. But maybe because he likes Cytherea so much that he wanted to impress her and accept him in her life. He was already in front of the penthouse's door. He shakes off the invisible dirt on his shirt and fixes his hair. He also grabbed the peppermint mouth spray from his pocket and sprayed his mouth twice making sure that he didn't have bad breath. He even blew air through his mouth and smelled to make sure that the mouth spray was effective. After all those ceremonies, he finally had the courage to knock on the door. After the three knocks, the door opened. Behind the door, emerged the beautiful Cytherea. Even though with her simple white, flowy sleeveless dress, she looked like a goddess who came down from Mt. Olympus. Her hair was in a perfect bun which showed her smooth neck and her ears were decorated with medium size gold hoops earrings. She didn't wear any makeup but lipstick. Gaus couldn't help but fall over and over again by Cytherea's beauty. Her simplicity is magnificent and her character is superb. No wonder many men fell for her. Gaus smiled at her. "Are you ready?" "Yes, Sir," she candidly said. "Oh, before. I forgot. Here," he said, handing her the bouquet of roses. Cytherea immediately accepted it. She was smiling while bringing the roses closer to her nose and sniffed them. She felt a warm feeling in her heart when she smelled the scent of the roses. Even before, flowers have been her weakness. "Thank you. They are beautiful," she complimented. Her eyes were sparkling with joy. "Come in. I will put this first in the vase so that they won't wither." She opened the door widely and hurriedly went to the kitchen to get a vase under the sink. She fills it up with water and dismantled the bouquet and put the roses in it. Gaus was just happily staring at her every move with a smile on his face. After a few moments, Cytherea was all done and ready. The flowers were neatly arranged in the vase and she had put them on the center table in the living room. "I'm all set, we can go," she stated. "Great!" Gaus excitedly said and offered his right arm so that she could cling her arm to his. Gaus looked at the entire penthouse. He noticed that it was quiet. Not that it was noisy before but the silence was just unusual. "Are you alone? I'm not seeing Athena," he couldn't help but ask while exiting the penthouse. "Oh, yes. I'm alone. She said she'd go to Bourbon Street to party." "No wonder the room is quiet." Cytherea giggled. She knows Athena can be very loud sometimes. "Are you alone?
