CHAPTER 9

ALPHA ENZO

I rolled over as beams of light made their way through the curtains. I sighed deeply; I must have slept longer than I planned. This is what happens when you allow the vixen in your bed to draw you into a good time.

I smirked as she sighed beside me.

The recent events have been a rollercoaster, one hot on the heels of the other. At the very least, I finally got rid of that leech, Athena.

How dare she lay a hand on my child? I get that she was carrying one as well, but how dare she hurt me ?

What would make the day better was the news of her demise. Like how dumb was she?

What did she hope to achieve there? An obvious death sentence. But that isn't the priority right now.

All that she has given to me has to somehow be preserved.

When I got to my office, my beta came in, looking all nervous.

“What? "Did something happen?" I asked him as I got to my feet.

" Sir, I have some news that might come off as shocking,” my beta said to me,

" Spit it out already!” I yelled at him. The suspense is not appreciated at the moment.

" Athena survived the mission, and it got worse. She is about to become the bride of the cursed Lycan King,” my beta said to me, then he leaned forward and whispered,

" Rumor has it that she is immune to his touch!”

Rage like I have never felt in my entire life filled me. How dare she?

Who did she think she was to climb the power ladder like that?! One alpha wasn't good enough for her, and now she has gone to play the slut for another?!

“Sir, you are turning an alarming shade of red," my beta said to me and I wanted to turn his face red with my fist.

I took a deep breath, this was not his fault. It was all that wolfless b***h’s fault! Did the Lycan Alpha know that she was without a wolf and was completely useless except to lie on her back?!

This was maddening.

“Go away, I need to think!" I hissed at my beta, who left immediately.

I rubbed my temples as a headache began to brew. As useless as Athena was to me, I couldn't afford to hand her over to anyone. Not even the Lycan Alpha.

Something has to be done immediately to get her back to my side where she belongs!

A hand made its way over my chest and I sighed as her scent filled my nostrils.

“You seem tense, Alpha, what seems to be the matter and how can I make it all better?" She said to me in a sultry voice that shut straight to my groin. The doctor had advised that we take it easy in the bedroom, but what was a warm-blooded male like myself supposed to do when this was offered to him on a platter.

I turned around and took her into my arms for a kiss. One that momentarily distracted me from my initial annoyance.

“Nothing worth getting angry about, but I can't help it. Athena survived and is set to become the Luna of the Phoenix pack,” I said to my Luna, whose eyes went cold at the mention of that loser's name.

“She's what?" My Luna asked me as she put some distance between us. Now I was annoyed all over again.

“It's exactly as I have said. I want to catch her and wring her neck myself. Why doesn't she just die and let us have some peace? At the very least, she should be a decent mother and die with her cursed offspring!" I said in anger. My mate placed a hand on my chest.

“The child could have been yours, you know. You don't have to get so harsh with her," my mate said to me, and I rolled my eyes.

“That b***h got pregnant by another man and tried to put it on me. Serves her right that she was exposed like that! Don't show her any pity right now, she is crawling her way into a position to get even with us, even though she doesn't deserve the very breath in her lungs!” I said to my mate, who nodded her head with a sigh.

" I understand what you are saying and, as usual, you are right. We just have to prepare a contingency plan in case she manages to worm her way into his heart and set us as a target. Lycan Alpha Zephyr is quite lethal to put it lightly,” my mate said to me and I nodded my head.

" Yes, he is. I will do everything in my power to remove her from there and return her to the dungeons that she belongs to. What about her mother?” I asked my Luna, who scoffed.

" Still tight-lipped. I don't know why she is so loyal to that piece of trash that she birthed. If only she would open her eyes to see that all her misfortunes in life stemmed from the birth of that b***h,” my Luna said, and I flashed her a smile.

" You are truly as smart as you are beautiful. I chose the right sister. Let's go back to bed. I'm in a mood that only your touch can fix,” I said to my mate as I took her lips with mine. I truly chose the right sister to stay by my side.

" Careful though, remember what the doctor said,” my mate said in a moan and I bit into her neck, her body responded beautifully to my touch.

“Don't worry, I'll make it worth your while!" I said to her and hoisted her up my waist.

Her giggles filled my ears as I walked to our bedroom.

I threw her on the bed, followed her immediately into it, and we tore at each other's clothes.

Athena's face flashed before my eyes as I emptied myself into my Luna.
