On Saturday morning around 11:25 a.m. Adewale got up from bed. He was famishing, so he thought of what to eat. Though, he'd the intention of going to Lagos to check on Funke today. He sidled towards the kitchen to find something to munch. Then he heard a knock on the door, “who is at the door?” he asked.
“Is me Kay,” a voice responded. One of his friends that lives two compounds away. He came to open the door for him. But to his utmost surprise, he saw Murphy behind him. They both exclaimed with excitement and a firm hug like they're just meeting again. “Come on in,” he paved way for them to come in.
“Are you just coming, and how's your trip?” he asked Murphy.
“It's fine but I've been in Abeokuta since yesterday evening," said Murphy.
“You're kidding me, you can't be serious right?” Adewale asked.
“Yesterday, when I was seeing my girlfriend off, I saw him in front of your doorstep. Thirty minutes later, when I was coming back, he's still there, and then I decided to interrogate him. He told me, he's your friend from Lagos. He showed me the address you gave him. When I saw your hand writing, that's when I realized he's your guest. And that was some minutes after the hour of six. Then I asked him to come to my place before you'd return,” Kay narrated.
“Thank you Kay, my man,” Adewale hailed him and he winked at him.
They sat in the living room. “We came back around ten o'clock to check if you're back. But your car wasn't there. Then I guessed maybe you've traveled or it's happening in town as usual,”
Kay said it jokingly as he ended the conversation with a wink.
“You're not serious, Adewale threw a cork at Kay and he dodged it.
“I'm really sorry,” he apologized to Murphy.
“No problem, after all you didn't know exactly when I would be coming,” Murphy told him. Adewale nodded.
“Anyway help me thank Kay for the hospitality. He took care of me like we've met before.”
Adewale gave Kay thumbs up with a wink. “He has no choice because he knows I would deal with him if you report anything negative to me.” Murphy could sense they're both fond of themselves as they act playfully.
“Can you beat me?” Kay challenged him playfully. “Have you forgotten how many years I learned boxing before I left Lagos?" Adewale said. And they all laughed over it . Murphy began to get the message of how close they're to each other.
Adewale abides in two bedroom apartment. Well furnished and arranged which tells how neat he is like Aaliyah. He introduced Murphy to Kay and they shook hands once again. Adewale took Murphy to the second room.
“This would be your room, you can stay as long as you want till you are good to stay on your own,” Adewale told him. “Thank you, I appreciate you,” Murphy said and they hugged.
Aaliyah was restless, she rolled to and fro on her bed. She's been having a stomach upset since midnight. She wished her friend Nike or Adewale would come on time as promised. She remembered Adewale told her he would come this Saturday. (She never knew, Adewale was slowing things down because of Danny's stern warning) If she had known Adewale would never come today, she'd have saved her little energy ruminating over him coming.
She heard a knock on her door and she sighed. “Adewale the man full of surprises, I hope is him,” she thought. “Yes, just a moment,” she said as she struggle to slid out of the cover and adjusted her nighties properly and tied a wrapper over it. The hope she had, it could be Adewale gave her a little strength.
As she got out of the room to the living room, the person knocked again. “ Please I'm coming, who's it?” she asked. “Is Bisi ma,” she replied. (Bisi is one of her female students, she does come to Aaliyah for tutoring and she helps her with house chores in return)
She felt weak because her hope was dashed. “But at least she'd help me buy some drugs,” she consoled herself.
“Good afternoon ma,” Bisi greeted her. “How are you?” Aaliyah asked.
“I'm doing good ma,” she replied and saw the way Aaliyah was walking.
“Are you alright ma?"
“No, please come and get a stomach ache drugs for me," Aaliyah told her as she brought some money out of her purse.
“Okay, sorry ma.”
On that same Saturday afternoon, when Adewale and Murphy was coming back from the market in his car. Adewale saw Funke alighting from a taxi cab parked in front of his gate. He saw her paid the driver some money as she carried her small box out of the car.
She had seen his car coming as well but pretended not seeing it. She's angry with him because he refused to fulfill his promise of coming to Lagos to see her last week. As Adewale waited for the taxi to make a U-turn, he noticed she's furious. She tried to hide it because of Murphy but it was crystal clear to see.
“I think Funke is angry, I hope the driver hasn't cheated her. Once they know you're new in town, they will extort you outrightly," Murphy said.
“You're right with your first statement but I think you got it wrong in the second one. I know why she's angry but I don't think any driver can out charge her. It's been a long time coming. Adewale replied. The cab driver hoot at Adewale as a signal of appreciation for waiting, and he returned the gesture.
Adewale pulled over beside the fence of his compound. Funke forced a smile, she greeted Murphy and when Adewale walked towards her, she turned her back at him. “I'm sorry, please Funke we'd talk about this later." She gave him a face, he tried to tease her but she didn't laugh. “Okay let me get the stuff we just got from the market,” said Adewale.
After Funke dropped her box in Adewale's room. She came to join them to carry the food stuff and the ingredients they got from the market.
“Don't bother yourself Murphy, I would carry the rest,” she told him.
“No, it's okay, don't let's leave everything to you alone. You just came back from a journey so you don't need to stress yourself,” Murphy told her.
“It's nothing,” she replied him with a light smile.
She got busy in the kitchen making them some lunch. She's backing him when Adewale peeped into the kitchen. He ambled towards her and she didn't notice until he wrapped his arms round his hips. He pulled her closer.
“Leave me, as you can see there's hot soup on the fire," she said.
“Okay if you're still angry with me, you have the right to," he told her as he loosened his arms and walked away gently. Funke looked back, she wanted to call him but she later chose to let him go.
When she finished cooking, she served Adewale's meal separately from hers. Funke used to dish their meals together in the past. The moment was intense, as everyone buried their heads and thoughts in the meal. Every time Adewale tries to lock eyes with her, she'd avoid it. He felt he's tried enough to appease her because the harder he tries the more he thinks he'd irritate her.
But deep inside her, she couldn't carry on with this for long with him. When Adewale finished eating his meal, he took his plate to the sink and washed it. When he turned back suddenly, Funke was in his way.
“I'm sorry...," he was about to say another word before Funke kissed him. After some few seconds, she let go and she dropped her plate on the sink.
Adewale closed her from behind. She kissed her neck, and she clenched her fist. She turned back to him and they began to kiss again. Unknowingly Murphy came into the kitchen and he saw them. Before he would turn back they had seen him so they stopped.
“I'm sorry, I never knew...," Murphy said has he scratched his head lightly and left.
“It's alright, is my fault,” Adewale said.
She carried the plates Murphy dropped on the cabinet.
“I have even forgotten we've company,” She whispered to him.
“My bad we got busted,” he said and giggled. He tickle her ribs and she laughed out loud.
When Funke finished washing the plates, she sat on the couch while Adewale lay his head on her thigh. The music “How long” (betcha got a chick by the side) by Pointer Sister was playing. The soulful lyrics of the songs incite the sensation. They both mimed the songs. (Adewale loves listening to good music, if you're his girlfriend you have to trend with him in music if you want to enjoy his companion)
Adewale pulled her up from the couch for a slow dance. And they swayed tenderly to the rhythm of the song.
He held her right hand in his left palm and he held her waist with his right hand. She nestled her bosom to his chest. Once again they lock lips and they kiss passionately. She shot her eyes tenderly and the kissing became intense.
He leaned her back on the wall beside the wardrobe in his room. He pecked her by the neck and she felt his electrifying touch. Her cervical nerves C1, C2 and C3 provides her the sensation that sent her on a journey to Jupiter.
He whispered softly into her ear and she hear nothing he says except “All those beatific moments we shared together are stuck in my memory. Even when were apart, I still feel them in my heart.”
She unfastened his buttons, he stroked her hair with his magical fingers. And then he pulled her blouse gently. They kiss again for a few seconds. He walked back to the bedside. They stopped while he pulled off his trouser. She laid his back on the bed and he turned her over.
He laid on her, he slid his finger downward and, she began to speak in tongue. Adewale didn't understand any of it but it was sweet to his hearing. She moaned softly, he kissed her again. And they made love passionately that evening like never before. Her moaning almost deafened Murphy. He later used his pillow to cover his hearing.
