Colonel had decided to take Aaliyah round the town, on the Friday she came back from Lagos. He'd realized how much she needed pampering and attention. He took her on a shopping spree. He also assured her that Tunde's planning to return to Nigeria anytime soon.
“I trust he mentioned it to you in his letters,” the colonel added. Aaliyah's a bit surprised to hear this because Tunde didn't mention it to her in the letters. But she acted like she's aware. She nodded and gave a sharp smile.
On Saturday, the following morning, she brought out her dirty clothes for washing. Her mother gave her some to help her wash.
Aaliyah sighed with exhaustion as she dried the last of her laundry neatly on the line outside. It was a routine chore whenever she visit her mother, but somehow it always left her feeling drained. She entered the house and made her way to the kitchen, her feet dragging slightly, and prepared herself a simple breakfast of bread and scrambled eggs.
As she ate, Aaliyah couldn't help but feel a sense of restlessness. She knew she had a busy day ahead of her, with plans to meet with the colonel later in the afternoon. But for now, she just wanted to rest her eyes for a bit. She glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was only 10:00 am. She still had ample time.
Without another thought, Aaliyah made her way to the bedroom and crawled into bed. The sheets were cool against her skin, and she pulled them up to her chin, feeling instantly cocooned in their softness. She closed her eyes and let out a deep breath, letting herself sink into the comfort of the bed.
Aaliyah's mind began to wander as she lay there, thoughts of the colonel and their upcoming outing flitting through her mind. She couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought of going to the cinema.
Before she knew it, Aaliyah had drifted off to sleep. She slept soundly for a couple of hours, her dreams a jumbled mess of laundry baskets and military uniforms. When she finally woke up, she felt refreshed and energized, ready to take on whatever the day had in store for her.
As she got up and stretched, Aaliyah glanced at the clock and saw that it was already some minutes before one in the afternoon. She quickly take her bath, got dressed, and made her way to the door, ready to head out to her mother's shop and meet the colonel for their outing. As she stepped outside, the sun was shining brightly overhead, and she felt a sense of excitement bubble up inside of her. “Today should be a good day,” she thought.
She got to her mother's shop few minutes to two. She hoped to assist her before she'd go out with the colonel.
Adewale rolled in Danny's car. Kaze was looking good with his new haircut and the new outfit. Everybody that saw him knew something has changed about him. He puffed the smoke of his cigarette in ebullience. He's on standby before Adewale arrived.
The moment Adewale pulled over, he recognized the car immediately he saw it. He walked hurriedly towards it. He greeted Adewale and he exchanged handshakes with him.
“You look great bro," Adewale told him.
“Thank you sir, it's courtesy of you,” he replied with a smile.
“No, all praise be to Almighty God,” Adewale said. He opened the glove compartment and brought out a bottle of perfume. He sprayed Kaze lightly.
“I have told you severally about this your smoking habit,"
“I'm sorry about it," he said.
“No, you don't need to apologize to me it's for your good if you can give it up,” he added.
“I appreciate your concern bro, I promise it will get better, said Kaze.
“That would be great, anyway you need to be brave and smart when you approach her,” he boosted his morale and patted Kaze on the shoulder.
“Alright bro," he replied.
Kaze opened the door and walked through the shops confidently. When he got to Adijah's shop fortunately for him Aaliyah was alone sitting on a bench. Two customers sat at one corner under the tree. Aaliyah's backing him but before he closed her up, the scent of his perfume has drawn her attention. She looked back and saw Kaze just right behind her.
She squinted at him and was waiting on him to talk when he came close. She knew if everybody is craving for her love, he dare not be on the queue.
“Good afternoon sister,” he bowed to her.
“Good afternoon,” she responded. Without mincing words he told her, “Uncle Danny's waiting for you in his car,” And he left immediately, that's the plan according to Adewale.
She was astounded at first and she couldn't believe her ears. She wanted to ask him a question but Kaze's already leaving. She was left no choice, she stood up and tailed him...
Adewale waited impatiently in the car, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. His right hand was on the ignition key and his left hand on the steering.
As he watched the people bustling between the shops, his heart skipped a beat when he saw a young woman with long, flowing hair, the color of rich mahogany, cascading down her back like a waterfall. Her skin is smooth and flawless, with a warm, golden hue that glows in the sunlight. Her eyes are deep and captivating, a bright shade of green that sparkles with intelligence and curiosity.
As she comes under the sunlight towards the car, the rays bounce off her skin and hair, creating an aura of radiance around her. Her every movement is graceful and fluid, as if she is dancing to a melody only she can hear. The gentle breeze catches her hair, sending it into a whirlwind of shimmering strands that seem to defy gravity.
She is dressed in a flowing, pastel-colored dress that accentuates her curves and enhances her beauty. The fabric dances around her with every step she takes, making her look like a walking work of art.
Some people stop and stare as she passes by, mesmerized by her beauty and grace. In this moment, she is the epitome of elegance and charm, a true vision of loveliness walking under the sunlight.
Adewale sighed and muttered, “This must be Aaliyah, but her charms were underrated.” He swallowed a gulp of saliva. Aaliyah stopped to greet her mother's friend in front of her shop.
“She looks enchanting, I have seen a lot of beautiful birds like Turaco, Flamingos, Blue jay, Starlet macaws but there is something unique about a Peacock. The way it displays its colorful iridescent tail is what amazes me. I have also read about beautiful flowers like Jade vine, Youtan poluo, and Chocolate cosmos but there is something unique about Middlemist red, it's the rarest of them all. I have seen a lot of beautiful ladies but there's something unique about Aaliyah,” Adewale thought to himself.
She was coming with a straight face. His thought was thrown into dumbfounding as her luscious figure approaches him. He noticed a wince on her face as she gets closer. Aaliyah could recognize the car but the face in it was an enigma to her.
She bent low at the window of the passenger's side with her arms resting on it. Her blouse slid down a bit while her light-skinned upper busts were revealed. ( Why does Aaliyah like to torture guys with this posture? I hope someone tells her soon)
He averted from the chest. He thought that's the first way a lady could judge a man. And that was the exact thing, she was trying to figure out quickly.
Good afternoon they greeted each other. “I'm sorry, I only recognize the car but not the face in it. And I was told it's uncle Danny asking after me," she said. He peeked around to find Kaze but he was gone. So she decided not to be too forward with the acquaintance. So she reserved her details.
“My name's Adewale. I'm Danny's youngest brother. He had told me a lot about you,” he added. She forced a smile, “But I hope he said good things,” she said.
“Sure, he did and he made mentioned he promised to teach you how to drive.”
She nodded her head with a grin, “So where's he now?” she asked.
“He wouldn't come due to some issues that happened here last month,” he told her. He knows this would get her curiosity flaring. And he's succeeded with that.
Now she's curious to know what happened here last month that she's not aware of. He wouldn't give an inkling, he wants to get her out of here.
“Are you going to tell me what happened?” she asked curiously.
“I think it's best you hear from him,” he replied.
“So where is Uncle Danny now?”
“He's in the gym,” he said.
She checked her wristwatch; it was twenty-five minutes before the hour of three.
“How possible is it for me to get here before four?” she asked. She wanted a conviction from him.
“That shouldn't be a problem,” he assured her.
“Alright excuse me I would be back in a jiffy,” she said.
Adewale watched her as she walked back to her mum's spot. She whirled in her little hips and swung in them as she took every step. He watched her passionately until she vanquished into the thin air. “Splendor is the adjective to qualify her,” he muttered to himself.
Unconsciously he hit the steering wheel with his right hand. “Damn it, even their descriptions couldn't give it all,” he said.
