Emily peeked down at the dagger in front of her. She couldn’t understand what would happen if she used it. Emily was beside herself as to where to go with this endeavor. The elders were never truly to be trusted. Her mother and father often talked about the elders needing the sacrifice to make sure the seal of power on the town was emitted. Her mother never told her the dark truth of what happened to her father until she was a teenager. Emily looked up at the sun rising over the flat plains. As the sun reached over the buildings, the citizens began to move out of their homes. Life began to return to the town. Emily glimpsed around her seeing the people put on a mask as to accept what the town was. Happy faces and smiles gave other people false hope. She knew there was none here. Emil
