In her arms

The night was approaching and our big house was packed to capacity. Many of them seemed not to leave anytime soon. I was already tired saying hello to everyone. I didn't even have time to rest after the flight and now here I am trying to impress the guests. Most of them are family members but still there are some close business associates. Dad likes to keep his friends close and that explains why there are so many people here today. To top on that he couldn't wait any longer to introduce his lovely daughter to the universe but I liked it here, no paparazzis, no camera just us. " Hello there," I heard someone interrupt my peaceful time alone. I turned to the direction only to see my beloved cousin, Beatrice but I liked to call her Bea. I rolled my eyes at her when our eyes locked and she did the same. " Took you long to get to me," I complained. " Well at least I don't leave my guests unattended," she said. " And what do you mean by that," I couldn't get at what she was driving at cause I've been running up and down to make sure I've got everyone feels at home. " Nothing," she flatly said after studying me for some time. " What do you mean by nothing," I was now aroused what's going on cause the look on her face tried to tell something I couldn't figure out. " Anyone ticking in your mind," I hated this mind games but it seemed she was ready for one as always. "No," I nodded my head and then her name popped up in my mind, Faith. As soon as guests started arriving I haven't seen her anywhere. Dad had asked for her but Marina offered to go look for her. I looked up at her as soon as I knew she was referring to her waiting for her to go on and tell me what's up with her. " Well she's in a bad shape, maybe she ate something that..." "... where is she?" I asked before she could finish her sentence. " In your room," she said. " In my room? why in my room," I asked confused. " Are you gonna stay as I explain what happened or are you gonna go check it out," she was right I should ask questions later not now. I ran in my room like an angry lioness. I even missed some stairs to make much quicker. In my room I found Marina and our home doctor standing beside her. Marina looked up at me and tried to apologized for having her in my room but I stopped her. " It's not a biggie, what's wrong with her?" I inquired. " She might have a stomach flu," the doctor replied. " She being vomiting after she ate the food, her fever was high and she was even shivering when I went to look for her and found her in the backyard so I brought her in here and I told your dad who sent the doctor here," Marina explain and that tells why she was nowhere to be seen. " Is she gonna be okay doc," I asked concerned. " She's stable and her fever is down, she will be fine when she wakes up but make sure she comes at the hospital for more check ups." " Yes doc, thank you," I sincerely appreciated for the doctor's help as he left the room. " Thanks Marina," I also appreciated her quick response and her seeking for help. It seems Faith has made peace with everyone here already, she loves all the workers here regardless of their positions and it seems they love her too. " I'll take it from here, just close the door after you." As I stared at her I wondered how could someone be this beautiful even in their sleep and not just in her sleep but even when she feels unwell she still slept with a smile on her face. It was almost ten pm and a good time to lay down and rest. I snuggled inside the blankets and hugged her when I realized she was still shivering trying to add some warmth to her. I hoped all nights would turn out to be like this. She fitted so perfect in my arms and I wondered if I could fit the same in her arms. She slept soundly as stopped shivering and that when I was able to fall asleep. Time ran so fast cause l woke up only to find it's morning already. I slept her in my arms but the sight was now different, it was me who was in her arms. I smiled as I tried to look up at her sleepy face. A tired smile and a beautiful sight was her morning signature today. Rocks were all over her face and I used my hand to push them behind her ears but I ended up waking her up. Our eyes locked as soon as she opened hers and our faces were much closer to each other than it should making my heart skip a beat as the heartbeats sky rocketed. " Are you alright now," she asked and I got confused cause I don't remember being unwell and I should be the one asking her that. She got the cue as she continued. " You had a nightmare last night and I had no better way than hug you to come down and it seemed to work some magic on you," I swear I blushed at that moment and hid my face an the cloak of her neck. "I'm sorry," I managed to say. " Is everything okay with you?" she asked with concern. " I'm good now. I don't remember the last time I had one but you resemble my mom maybe that can tell why," I said not explaining further leaving her confused. " Wanna talk about it, am all ears," she offered but I wasn't ready to share everything with her. I just shook my head and she was okay with it. " It's okay if don't wanna talk about it but if you change your mind I'm available," she assured me. " Thank you. Can you let go of me now...I need .." she looked at me and again and realization hit her as I was still in her arms. " Oh sorry," she shyly let go of me but I noticed her smiling. " Are you laughing at me," I asked playfully. " Aren't you going anymore?" she teasingly asked. " I am going," I said stepping out of the bed. " Or maybe we can sleep in a little bit," she said raising aher eyebrows with a suspicious smile on her face. I didn't look back at her as my cheeks turned red and I rushed into the washroom. " Don't go without me," I said before I closed the door shut. I don't know if I was acting out or it was just my hormones playing a game with me. I could hear my heartbeats escalating every second I thought of her. Her image stuck in my mind as if not willing to let go. How she hugged me scared to drop me, how she smiled at me and how she could tease me so easily but made it feel good. As I was taking in every moment I wondered what got into her. How could someone possibly change overnight. Yesterday she was scared to even come closer to me and now she is teasing me and even daring to offer me a chance to sleep in together yet it was already past eight. " What's the matter, anything went wrong in there," she asked and I looked her with questionable look. " Well you look like you've seen a ghost," she retorted but I was sure she was teasing and I changed the topic not ready to where that conversation was heading to. " How are you feeling now," I asked. " Pretty good since I got someone to take good care of me overnight and I got a free cuddle for the first time after a long wait," she answered with a bigger smile on her pretty face but this got me confused. " You've never cuddled with anyone before," I asked and she nodded her head. " I was waiting for the right person but you stole that right from me," she flowned. " I am sorry, I was only offering my help. You were shivering so much last night and I had no option than keep you warm," I tried to explain myself. " But I was under the blankets I would have been better after some time, was it necessary to cuddle?" What is she even mas about? She seemed to enjoy every moment and every touch. " You know what, forget it," she was starting to piss me and I don't know why I was getting mad at her asking why I did that while on the other side my heart was limping in joy since she knew I was the one cuddling her and never stopped me. " Can we go downstairs now, I know dad is waiting for us." " Sure, after you my lady." This girl is gonna make me crazy one of this days. I walked out as she trailed behind me. " We will be going to the hospital after we have breakfast," I told her. " I hope it's not about me cause am a hundred percent fine," she complained. " It's up to no discussion," I firmly assured her. " But..." I stopped and turned around before she completed her sentence only for her to bump into me and she held me by my waist before I fell down. " I'm sorry, are you hurt?" she asked worried. " Not physically but in here," I said touching my heart feigning hurt. " Can I?" she leaned closer to my chest and the she was staring at me made it resemble a romantic clip on a romance comedy but before I could say anything she kissed me on my chest closer. " I hope she doesn't hurt anymore." she said and left me standing there like a fool rooted in the same spot.
