(Never curse a day before it ends,,)
Today I don't know what's up with me. Everything seems not to fall in place. Time was running really fast, making it hard for me to get hold of it. It was almost five in the evening and yet not completed the tasks. I felt so tired and decided to take a quick nap maybe before they're home. Bella after doing her homework was fast asleep in her room, peacefully. I checked on her really quick them laid my tired body on the couch but before I could find my way to dreamland, I heard a knock. " Oh who's this, it better be good or else.." To my shock the sports lover was standing there annoyed. " You came early today, what's the matter," I asked.
" Nothing." That's the only reply I got. Straight and simple.
" The look on your face says otherwise," I tried to pry on her. " You look mad and.. annoyed, who did this to you," I teasingly turned her head right then left making it seem like I was looking if she got something on her face.
" I said it's nothing, don't act so caring now. You only care about your work, money so stop acting like you care cause it really doesn't suit you." she retorted angrily and left me rooted at the same place I was standing.
" What?" it's the only word that came out but she heard it and made fun of it.
" What Faith, don't worry about me. Worrying makes you even much cuter and I had to find a way to get out of there before something happens," she smirked at me and left leaving me even much confused. I felt tired even walking, so I sat on the nearby couch contemplating everything. One, she comes earlier than expected, secondly she's mad like she gonna eat someone alive and thirdly and not the least makes fun of my concern and leaves smiling like a fool or like someone who has won a lottery but what can I do. It is what it is.
After a few moments she comes down changed wearing an oversized blue t-shirt and a black short. She was still smiling staring at me. It seemed like she was controlling herself so much not to laugh out loud.
" Just say what's on your mind and spare me the guessing game," I asked looking anywhere but not her but she said nothing. Noticing her silence I looked up at her but the smile was gone." Are you a bot or what, one minute you're smiling like a fool the next minute you're dead serious like you've seen a ghost. What's the matter?" I questioned trying hard not to involve my emotions.
" Well do you want a sugar coated answer or the truth," she asked lifting her eyebrows in a teasing manner.
" Don't you think I deserve to know the truth Rebecca," I was now getting irritated. I was curious to know if my suspicion was right.
" Okay. Well..uhm...First I'm wondering how someone will look this beautiful and flawless in just a maid's uniform.." "..stop it I don't wanna hear anything," I didn't want to listen to anything else, it's clear that she only wants to mess with me. " ... lemme finish first before you say anything." I nodded my head in agreement waiting for her to carry on. "... Secondly, well as our football team captain I felt we should be given another chance to prove ourselves but the coach didn't even dare listen to us, he appointed new leaders to lead and he will be the only one to decide who to play in next season so I flared up and left."
" You're so much disrespectful you know that," I flatly said.
" Towards who? You or the coach."
" To the coach, all these has nothing to do with me."
" And to my first sentence."
" Ooh to that, nobody was born entitled to be something or to someone and everyone is born beautiful. And just because I didn't complete my studies doesn't mean I got to be ugly so you got to bear with that." I looked up finding her eyes and as soon as I had her looking at my own I was satisfied to say what's on my mind. " And what you said earlier, I care I really do but if you don't believe it it's your problem not mine."
Rebecca just stared as if in trance. No blinking, no talking just staring. It was evidently that she was undressing her with her eyes, having all sorts of things to think off. She might be teasingly flirting with Faith but every piece of her body craves for her. Rebecca loves her despite using mean words towards her most of the time, she does love her and she doesn't know what to do about it. She is a 'spoilt brat' just like Faith refers to her but she has a fragile heart an a very delicate personality that she has to hide behind her family's name.
In contrary no one understands if Faith is into this staffs or not. The mask on her face no one dares to uncover it. No one knows if she's just dumb or pretends to be. She has a past, a story to tell that nobody knows and she's also scared to share. She is full of scars that she has come to believe that her fragile heart can't shelter anyone apart from herself.
They're brought back to reality when her phone rang. No name on the ID just a number. She stared at the phone then decided to pick it up.
" Hello who's this."
"Hello good evening ma'am, this is Stella speaking, secretary from Kennar Group of Companies."
" Yes Stella, how can I be of help to you."
" You passed and you'll have an interview tomorrow at 10:00 am .
"Hold on Stella, what do you mean interview.."
"Yes you'll have an interview tomorrow, the boss will be waiting."
" But I.." I didn't get to complete the conversation when I heard some commotions in the hall. I went to check what's going on only to find Mr Richard and his good for nothing son in the room.
" What was the call earlier about," Becca asked.
" Uh..." I looked at them one by one and,"..forget about it."
" Please." she pleaded with a puppy face and she was so cute to deny her.
" It was about an interview tomorrow."
" Wow! I knew you would do it."
" Do what? I don't even have any recollections of me sending job applications. "
" Then forget about it," it was Mark ceasing any chance to criticize me." I mean you don't even have papers how are you going to present yourself, you'll still come back here rejected," he finalized with a mocking smile on his face.
" I never thought you were this mean Mark, am greatly displeased by you. Let her have a try and see." his father countered sarcastically. " Faith you got a day off tomorrow, go get yourself prepared."
" Thank you Sir."
" No problem you're like a daughter to me."
" Congratulations Faye," Becca congratulated me openly.
" Thank you, I'll do my best." I was happy beyond happy but I couldn't show it at least I got a day off, but before I left I remembered something. "...and Mark just because I don't have any papers or experience or even connections just like you doesn't mean I'm incompetent. It's a matter of time, do not wonder if you find yourself opening a door for me one day." That got him to his toes and to tell you I was feeling good watching his reaction in every word that I said.
" Wake up from your dreams, I will never ever open a door for you even if that's the last thing I have to do." he said bittery shaking his head in disagreement.
" Oh, if that's the case I'll remember to remind you about this conversation if that ever happens. Just learn to respect others no situation in life is permanent apart from death." He felt bored with what I was saying and tried walking out on me but still I had to say what I intended to at the first place. " One last thing Mark," he pauses and stares angrily at me, " What?" he shouts. "...if someone is still breathing do not underestimate him, there's nothing he can't achieve if he persists." After I said that he walks away but still, " Thank you for listening young Master."
I turned to Becca to see her grinning from ear to ear. It was me going for the interview but she was much happier than me. I was grateful for that call even I got no idea how. Many thoughts were running in my mind and I couldn't figure out anything out of it. A message appeared on the screen of my phone. It was an email with the address where I'll have the interview, the time, the place was well indicated but I was much concerned about the company's name: Kenner Group of Companies. Isn't it the same company where Mark works or is it one of their branch? I got no idea but I hope I gonna know the answers tomorrow.
