Chapter 10 – RecruiterAnnamaria woke up after the operation to reset her broken jaw. She was still groggy and did not recognise the woman standing at the foot of her bed.
‘Annamaria?’
‘Yes.’
‘I am Ilona. We need to talk.’
A nurse came into the room to check on her patient.
‘We need privacy. You should go somewhere else.’
‘What?’
‘I am here on official business for The Five. You need to leave.’
The nurse had a puzzled look on their face, but she turned around to leave the room.
