"He… he went crazy," Marco said, his eyes wide with fear. "He was ranting and raving, attacking people. He attacked Axil and Elara. He was like… a wild animal."
"Where is he now?" Brittney asked, her voice tight with urgency.
"No one knows," Marco said. "He just… disappeared. After he…" He trailed off, unable to finish the sentence.
Brittney grabbed him by the arm, her grip tightening. "After he what?" she demanded, her voice low and dangerous.
"After he… killed a Vargas," Marco whispered, his eyes filled with horror.
Brittney's world tilted. Cain… killing his lieutenant? It was hard to believe.
But she knew that he was unstable and always on the edge. Especially after coming back from the literal dead. Twice.
