Chapter Three

1225 Words
Lorenzo “Babe, why aren’t you eating? Isn’t it delicious? I prepared it specially for you.” I was quiet, carefully inspecting Isabella who was on the other side of the table. Her boyfriend’s arm around her waist. It was obvious that she was uncomfortable but he was too slow to notice. My right leg was crossed against the other, i scrolled through my phone nonchalantly not minding the eyes that were on me. “Babe,” Camilla pouted, whiny as ever, “Why aren’t you eating?” “I lost my appetite just by staring at it.” I spoke without sparing her a glance. She was amazed, words refusing to spill out but i didn’t care. The only thing clouding my head right now was what Isabella said to me, it replayed in my head over and over again all night. Normally, i wouldn’t care about things like this, but strangely, i do. Why? Mr Rodriguez cleared his throat, trying to ease the atmosphere, “Lorenzo, your words were too harsh, especially to your girlfriend and my wife who stressed over making the perfect meal for you.” “I apologize.” Truth be told, i was unapologetic, but i didn’t come here for them, i came here for someone else. “So,” Mr Rodriguez cleared his throat again, “My wife and i didn’t expect you coming to the family dinner since you rarely honored our invitation, we would have made more delightful meals that were to your taste.” I frowned, their fake show of concern was getting slightly irritating. I stood up abruptly, I needed to get out of this room. "I need to smoke," My eyes went round the table before it finally stopped on her. Isabella. "Can you show me the mansion's garden?" My eyes stared intently into hers. She was speechless, obviously wasn't expecting me to ask her to do it when I have a girlfriend. "Babe," Camilla stammered, "I could take you there. Besides, I'm your girlfriend not her." I saw desperation flicker in her eyes but I didn't care. "Isabella, would you?" My voice grew impatient. "Camilla honey, come help me out in dish washing. Lorenzo just needs some fresh air, that's all." "Don't you dare do anything with him while you're at it. He's mine!" Camila yelled, loud enough for everyone in the room to hear but I couldn't care less. "What? Are you scared I might steal him from you?" I was shocked, I didn't know Isabella much but she never stood up for herself. She'd let her family walk all over her and it disgusted me. My voice thickened, "Lead the way, Miss Rodriguez." She nodded gently and walked in front of me. Her steps were light and each of it gently tapped the tiled floor that echoed through the hallway. I was three steps behind her, but still close enough for watch her every move. She walked with pride and never glanced backwards at me. Her ponytail swinged side by side as she moved, catching the faint lights coming from the slightly opened window. I caught all this within a glance. We reached the gardens, I didn't seem to notice, not until she titled her head and turned, "You've come to your right senses, huh?" "What?" My voice turned cold, I dipped my hand into my pocket to bring out the cigarette. I knew what she meant, but wasn't it more fun to pretend like I didn't? She paused for a second, maybe to examine me further. She clicked her fingers, bit her lower lip and squinted her eyes, all at a go as if she was in deep thoughts. "If that's not it, then why did you choose me follow you here?" Her eyes stared intently into mine. My eyes held no emotions whatsoever, "Because I couldn't locate it all by myself." She smirked, walked closer to me and breathed in, "What's the real reason you brought me here?" "What do you want from me?" "Camilla is having an affair," She paused for a minute, as if finding it hard for complete the sentence, "With my fiancé." "You already said that." I puffed a smoke uninterested. "So?" She searched my eyes, waiting for more replies. "Shouldn't we plot a revenge or something?" "Revenge is fueled by emotions, and I don't play by that rule." I inhaled the smoke and exhaled afterwards. "But you love her, why aren't you bothered?" "Who told you I did?" My words made her flustered, "If I gave you that impression that I loved her, then I should quit being my job as a CEO and become an actor instead." She was quiet, not moving an inch but instead, batting her eyelids with obvious confusion in them. "Since you don't know what to say, let's end it here. Have a nice day." To be honest, for what it was worth, it was fun. But I had better things to do than listen to this. I stood, looking at her expression with the cigarette still in my hands, but she was quiet. "Well then, I'll get going." I turned around to leave. I took two steps further before I heard her yell. "Impotent." I stopped in my tracks. What did she mean? What trick was she trying to pull off this time, because I can't let this slide. "I heard that you're impotent," She breathed in and out, "Camilla called you that." When she noticed that she got my full attention, she continued, "She said she doesn't like you because you're impotent." I clenched my fists in anger. Impotent? Now that was out of line. She could have said anything against me but impotent? She knows how I am but she still blatantly lied. Still, my expression was void of emotions, I really don't care what she thinks of me. "And you want to have an affair with someone that's impotent?" "An impotent man and a woman who is as stiff as a log of wood, I think that's a good match." Her eyes were expectant. "Interesting," I smirked, my lips cornered. I like where this is going, maybe I might consider, "Go on." I nudged, my hands in my left pocket. She was silent. A deep drown settled on my lips, replacing the smirk. Just when I thought this was getting interesting, she had nothing to back it all up. She walked closer to me, closing the gap between us, I could hear her uneven breath clearly now, and her facial features. Unlike yesterday, she was on makeup, the mascara brought out her eyes. "Snap out of it," I cautioned my inner self. Like a toddler pleading for candy, she grabbed my hands, "I've been treated unfairly all my life, and this is the height of it all. I want to plan my revenge on a low key, without them suspecting any change in my behavior. And I need your help, you're the right person for this." I was silent and she continued, "If I date you, Camilla will be pissed. She claims she does not loves you, but let's see how long she can keep up the lie." I yanked my hands away from her grip with a stiff frown. "Perhaps I'll consider dating you." "I'll be in touch." I added and strode away.
