The Wolfless wonder

Flashback :

Sapphire’s POV:

It was the night of the wolf ceremony, the night all 16 year olds shifts into their wolves. All of us have gathered into the clearing in the middle of our pack territory and waited for the rays of the full moon to cast on us. It was an exciting night for all of us , we are all eager to see what our wolves look like.

“ Alright parents! Lets back away from our youngsters and give them space to do their first shift!Kiddos get on all fours and be ready to shift once the full moon casts over you!” yelled Alpha Matias.

“ Yes Alpha!”

Every 16 year old kid got down on all fours and waited for the moon to cast over us.

“ Remember the first shift will be painful! Just take a deep breath and focus on your wolf in your minds , then trust them to finish the process.”

The full moons rays now cast over us and all you hear are screams and the sounds of broken bones . Then one by one I look around and see different colored wolves . Brown, tan, black, grey, and many more different wolves .

“Sapphire Jones , why have you not shifted into your wolf?”

I felt ridiculous. Shame. Embarrassed. I’m here on all fours and have yet changed into my beautiful wolf.

“Celeste , what is going on? Why haven’t I shifted ?”

“Sapphire I’m sorry, but it is not your time yet.” Then silence , as if she just backed away further into my mind .

I stood up, tears started to form in my eyes . I looked at my mom and dad and they just stare at me shocked and worried . I looked at my alpha and he shows pity and disappointment all over his face . I run. I run completely ashamed all the way home.

Present day (2 years later) :

“ Hey look it’s the wolfless wonder !” Yelled brad one of the ‘cool kids’ of the pack. Only because he’s the son of the alpha. I mentally roll my eyes , all the other girls of the pack drool over him, me personally I find him completely annoying . They call me the wolfless wonder due to the fact my wolf decided not to show during the wolf ceremony when I was 16. It was a stupid nickname in my opinion , they all say it’s because they ‘wonder ‘ where my wolf is. I roll my eyes. All the kids my age just like to get under my skin. Everyone else in the pack have different emotions , some pity , some disappointed , then there’s those that are actually kind and talk to me like I’m part of the pack. I know I have a wolf , but She states it’s ‘not my time yet’. Whatever that means. I’m currently just wandering around the pack territory just trying to get some fresh air before the big event tonight . The alphas are having a big meeting to talk about the progress of their territories, pretty much showing the council of elders everyone is civil and on track with keeping their packs under control . Then afterwards there’s this big ball for everyone to attend , especially those who are 18 and unmated in hopes to find their soulmates . Personally I don’t care to find mine since I’m so used to being alone and am the big wolf joke and every pack knows about the ‘wolfless wonder’ . The only reason I’m going is because my pack is hosting the ball and we are all under orders to attend.
