Chapter 7

Ananya’s POV

We all are in Shaan's car and stuck in traffic. Be it Delhi or Mumbai. There is absolutely no difference in the heavy traffic of both cities.

It’s almost midnight but still traffic is at its peak and why not it’s weekend time. We just had to finish off some work with our seniors at a conference informing them about our plans and progress.

"I am bored." Sakshi said the same sentence for the umpteenth time

"Eat me .... You have already eaten more than half of my brain. Rest this traffic ate. Now you eat my flesh too" Shaan said in anger

Arun and Varun sensed the tension and quickly pulled out their earphones and started listening to music to avoid the lover’s quarrel which is about to start any minute now.

"God...what was my fault. Why you gave me such an a******e as my husband?" Sakshi said in an overly dramatic voice making me laugh internally

“Very funny.” Shaan said in irritation with a poker face

God, this traffic brings everyone's worst. Everyone is getting impatient, even Shantanu too.

Sakshi rolled her eyes and whispered

"I should have chosen Veer instead of this asshole."

"Why don't you go to him now?" Shaan raised his voice, disbelief clear in his voice

"I should. But I can't force him to bear your child all his life." Sakshi's said annoyed

"Great, do abortion and then leave." Shaan suggested and rolled his eyes

Abortion!! And my heart dropped, and my mind went crazy

"Stop it, both of you." I yelled at them brink of losing my sanity

All of them looked surprised as I don't get angry much.

"I know you both are getting irritated due to traffic and we are facing high time now. But please at least don't say like this." I added softly.

Shaan nods and mumbles sorry to Sakshi and so does she.

"Now hug and end this fight." I suggested more like ordered

Both nodded and Shaan unbuckled his seat belt to have more excess over his wife in hug.

I looked away hiding those tears which were building in my eyes

Why didn't Arjun love me like this.

'He does' my subconscious piqued in

‘Not anymore’ My mind countered

'Who knows, he still does' was the reply of my subconscious brain and I rolled my eyes in annoyance

Flashback

"Jenny, you know when will Arjun be around?" I asked her over the line.

"He always reaches here before three." she answered in a curious tone

"Okay, bye" I said and ended the call

1:34 pm.

I have only one and half hour to reach orphanage.

I knocked at my senior's cabin. After getting permission I entered and said my prepared sad story.

My head is spinning like it happened yesterday. I need rest. Can I get home early today too please, please, please.

After wasting ten minutes of my precious time on him I got his permission. I did victory dance internally and left his cabin.

Next target, Jay

I entered his cabin without knocking and soon regretted my decision

Jay and Maya were standing in imitate posture and he was about to kiss her.

Wrong timing Ananya!!

I scolded myself.

I lowered my head and Maya turned into tomato. Seriously, this much blushing

"I sho....ould le... leave" Maya says and soon was out of cabin leaving me and nervous Jay.

"What was that?" I asked him as soon we were alone, suppressing my giggles.

"Seriously I should be the one asking you 'what was that?'  You destroyed my first kiss with Maya." he complained like a baby.

I laughed out loudly.

"Seems like it’s very funny." he says in irritation.

"Suits you, after what you said to Arjun yesterday." I fired.

A smile appeared on his face.

"Jealous. Was he?" He asked amusement in his eyes.

I nodded.

"But you practically told him that we, WE had s*x in my bedroom." I boomed.

"No... No ...no... I didn't." he says holding his smile back.

"Then why you asked me to change bed sheets?"

"Because they became dirty due to my shoes." he lied.

"Oh...okay." I said and picked up a pen from table only to throw it back on him.

"Stupid woman... stop." he calls as I continued to throw things at him whatever came in my hand.

"You will come and confess the truth to Arjun, now." I said.

"No... why would I do that." he says.

"Oh... okay… Maya... May..." I started.

"Okay I am coming." he immediately responded. I gave him a smirk and went to my cabin to get my things.

1:56 pm.

Only one hour left.

When I entered reception area, I spotted Jay talking to Maya. Both were standing across her table.

I went and placed my application on desk to get their attention.

Maya blushes and grabs it before stamped and depositing it in a file.

Jay too places his application. And Maya did the same.

"Where to Miss?" Jay said as he opened passenger seat's door of his car for me.

"My home, please." I replied sweetly.

Over the way home I told him how to behave and react with Arjun.

And he just rolled his eyes.

As we reached home, I spotted Arjun in garden with Jenny. As our car approached their heads turned towards us.

A smile appeared on his face as he spotted me coming out of the car but it was soon converted into frown.

To my clue, a hand snaked over my waist pulling me towards his owner.

Jay.

Jay sweetly smiled at me and then turned towards Arjun with a smirk.

"Stop annoying him, Jay." I said in high pitched voice.

"Damn... okay sweetheart." he replied.

I returned him a murderous glare.

He left me and went to stand in front of Arjun. God, Arjun is looking pissed.

"Hey, I am Jay." he started and let his hand out for handshake.

"Arjun." Arjun snapped at him without accepting his hands.

"Dude, sorry. I am just her friend. Best friend in fact." Jay explained.

I reached near Jenny and stood beside her.

"What's going on?" She whispered.

"I will tell you later." I answered.

"Arjun, I am just, JUST Ananya's friend. I said all those things last night only to make you jealous." Jay tried to explain.

"Jealous. Why will you want me to be jealous?" Arjun asked.

"So that you may became angry and confess your feelings to Ananya." Jay shrugged.

Arjun's face instantly changed into shocked emotion and he looks over me.

I nodded to support what Jay said just now is true.

Arjun exhaled in relief.

"So you two... aren't... I mean... together" he asked with uncertainty.

"Nope." Jay instantly replied popping the 'p' sound.

A smiled crosses over his face and he looks at me with his delicate eyes. I quickly paddled till him and stood beside him.

Arjun's hand slowly gripped my hand and soon our fingers were entangled.

I relief flooded inside me and I passed a smile to him. My sweet smile always works.

"So... I must leave now" Jay says and winks before jumping in his car.

Arjun leaned towards me and kissed my forehead. A smile arises on my lips and I exhaled the breath I was holding on, God knows why.

"Get a room you two." Jenny's voice appeared from behind

I quickly turned towards the direction and found her standing with crossed hands over her chest embarassement flooded in and I removed my hand from Arjun's grip.

"Oh... wait... at least first date for sometime before going for your romance." she suggested and I give her a murderous glare to which she winks.

"Sure." Arjun replied and turned towards him in such a motion, I am sure I had broken my neck.

But it survived.

Soon Jenny left us all alone.

He gripped my hands again.

"Can you have a coffee with me." he asked sweetly.

"Sure! Just give me fifteen minutes. I will be done with it." I replied.

"No… I mean a coffee date." I corrected himself.

I blushed and didn't answered him.

My first official date!!!

"I will take your silence as yes." he said and started walking towards his car while I followed him due to our joined hands.

Flashback over

"Ananya wake up." Arun’s voice entered my ears.

Soon I realized that I slept in the car itself.

"Sorry." I muttered and got out.

We walked till elevator and pressed the button of our desired floors.

"You will come to my house tomorrow in the morning so that I will help you in dressing up." Sakshi says.

"That's not needed." I replied.

"That is needed." Shaan and Sakshi replied at same time.

"Oh… okay fine" I agreed.

I can't fight or argue with them now.

First they both are on same side.

Second I am feeling sleepy too.

Arun and Varun were tying real hard to suppress their giggles but failed miserably and we all ended up laughing in the elevator which echoed a bit.

Soon we bid our good night. I and Arun entered the apartment with spare keys.

12:09 am

Riya must be asleep.

After locking the door we walked till the kitchen.

We found kitchen's lights up so I quietly walked up till there only to spot Riya listening to music through earphones.

As soon as she spots us she smiled and took out the earphones out of her ears

"I will get the food." she said and took a microwave dish from the cabinet and put the rice in it before placing in microwave-oven.

We nodded and quickly walked into our rooms to get fresh.

 I quickly changed myself into a pair of comfy pajamas after a quick wash.

When I reached dining area Riya was placing food in a plate. Arun was already devouring his food while thinking about something really deep and hard I took a chair and started munching my food.

"What were the results?" Riya asked softly

"I topped the list." I boomed feeling proud of myself. As expected I was in her arms instantly and she was jumping with excitement.

"God bless you my dear." I heard her voice over my hairs, and I hummed in response

“What about you Arun?” Riya asked Arun

“I got the fourth position and remember one thing Riya it’s Arun Sir and Ananya Mam for you? Please respect us. We’re your seniors. I guess?” Arun spoke in an angry irritated tone

“Sorry Sir.” She answered in a low tone

“Arun its okay. Relax” I tried coaxing him

“No, it’s not Ani. Sir was scolding me for letting her call us by our first names.” Arun said while banging his fist on the table

“Okay fine. But Riya address me as my name only, you may call him whatever you like but not me.” I ordered Riya

“Yes Ananya.” Riya said with a fake smile

“Did Dhruv trouble you today?” I asked Riya while shoving a spoonful of food in mouth

“Dhruv never troubles me. You know it.” She said with a real smile, at least it made her feel better slightly

“Anything new Riya?” Arun asked her in a bit soft tone this time

“Yes, I’ve hacked one of the computers it says they are coming to Mumbai soon. Building Dreams & Co. is been assigned to deal with this new project.” Riya narrated her research to us

“Riya it’s possible we may go to Mumbai for some time. Will you be able to manage with Dhruv over here alone all by yourself?” Arun asked in a concerned voice

“Yes Sir don’t worry Dhruv will be in safe hands. You can trust me. I’ll protect him with my life.” Riya spoke in a promising tone
