Chapter 10 :Shodows Collid

605 Words
The quiet of the penthouse was shattered that evening by an unexpected visitor — someone from the past Aria had tried to leave behind. Her heart dropped the moment she saw him: her boyfriend. The man whose betrayal had set the chain of events in motion, the one whose photographs had led her here, sitting there in the lobby of her gilded prison. He looked different than the images she had seen. Smug, arrogant, but still familiar. His eyes scanned the space until they landed on her. For a heartbeat, the world froze. “You,” he said, voice laced with surprise and something like possessiveness. “What… what are you doing here?” Aria swallowed hard, her chest tightening. “I… I…” Her words faltered. How could she explain? How could she explain that her life had changed so drastically, that the man she thought she knew had become irrelevant, powerless even, compared to the danger she now faced? Before she could answer, a shadow fell over the lobby. The mafia boss stepped out of the shadows, calm as always, but with an edge to his presence that made every other person in the room seem small, irrelevant. He didn’t speak at first — he didn’t need to. The air shifted. Every ounce of authority, every particle of danger, radiated from him like a storm. Her boyfriend’s confident posture faltered. “Who… who are you?” “Someone you should never have crossed,” the mafia boss said simply, his gaze locking on him with icy precision. “And now, you’re in my territory.” Aria’s pulse raced. She could feel the electricity between them — the mafia boss, her past boyfriend, and herself caught in the tension. Every instinct screamed to stay back, to run, to hide, but she was rooted in place, mesmerized by the dangerous control the man next to her exuded. “You don’t belong here,” her ex spat, trying to mask the fear she knew was there. “She’s mine!” “She’s yours?” the mafia boss repeated softly, dark amusement curling at the edge of his words. “No. She never was. And now… she’s mine to protect. Anyone who threatens her will regret it.” Her ex paled. Aria realized in that moment just how small he seemed against the shadow of this man, how powerless he was compared to the one who had kidn*pped her, enslaved her for a year, and yet somehow made her feel alive in ways she couldn’t resist. The confrontation ended as suddenly as it began. Her ex left, muttering threats that fell flat against the mafia boss’s commanding presence. And when the door clicked shut behind him, Aria realized something she couldn’t ignore. She wasn’t just trapped in a golden cage anymore. She was in one built of fire, danger, and desire. And the man who had claimed her heart — or at least threatened to — stood silently beside her, watching her with a calm intensity that made her knees weak. “You’re safe,” he said finally, his voice low and intimate, meant only for her. “But be warned… anyone from your past who thinks they can take you back will find out exactly what it means to cross me.” Aria’s chest heaved. Relief, fear, and something far more dangerous — longing — surged through her. The lines of her life had been erased, rewritten by power, obsession, and temptation. And she knew with a terrifying certainty: surviving him wasn’t just about time anymore. It was about resisting desire. And resisting desire… was impossible.
