Selene smiled as she started down the aisle to the man waiting for her at the end. She knew her smile was as big as it could possibly be but his was bigger, and it was accompanied by tears in his eyes. This man, one of the strongest men she knew, only ever cried over her. Some might see that as weakness, but she saw it as a declaration of his love for her. After the trials of not only the last two years but also her life previously, it is now crazy for her to think one different decision just 12 months ago would have a different life waiting for her at the end of the aisle.
Selene picked up the pace as her excitement grew and her silk and lace A-line wedding gown slid against her legs as she tried to remember to keep her strides short and even, her breaths long but shallow so her chest doesn’t press noticeably against the top of her off the shoulder bodice. As the end of the aisle neared, she wasn’t nervous like she thought she would be, nor was there any hint of uncertainty about her choice of groom. Instead, all Selene felt was love and awe of the life she now got to live. She couldn’t stop thinking about how far she had come since she was 5 years old and how much further she could go- especially with the true love of her life at her side.
