Felix looked at his three opponents with contempt and disbelief. He had known for some time that the rogues were not working by themselves and that there were unusual patterns in their behaviour. It was something he couldn't quite put his finger on, something that felt wrong. Then again everything about this situation he now stood in was wrong. His people were fighting for their lives. He was responsible for keeping them safe and he would gladly die trying.
"Traitors! What is the meaning of this betrayal?" Felix shouted, as clenched his fists.
"When was ambition a crime?" Jacob laughed. "We want something, so we take it."
"Does loyalty mean nothing to you?" growled Tristan. "After all Felix and I have done for you over the years!"
All the other Alphas in the room were much younger than Tristan and Felix. When Jacob and Grayson specifically, were Alphas in newly formed packs and tried running their packs, they didn't know the first thing about it beyond commanding their subjects. Felix and Tristan stepped in mentoring and guiding them over the past three years.
"You trained us well," smirked Grayson. "Too well. Now the student becomes the master."
"A-and the master?" Tristan asked.
"There can't be two masters!" growled Jacob and he lunged at Tristan narrowly missing him as he dodged his attack.
The third Alpha stood watching the others, still playing with his cigarette lighter. He looked almost bored with the exchange that was going on. He was only 16 years old but had seen a lot of violence in his relatively short lifetime. His experience was beyond his years and this was nothing compared to some of the atrocities he had witnessed. His green eyes were fixed on Felix and his incompetent allies didn't seem strong enough to get the job done. As the two pairs of Alphas walked in circles opposite each other, there was a split second where Felix saw Jacob mind-linking Grayson.
"Tristan! SHIFT!" he shouted, but it was a trap.
As the two of them started to shift into their wolves, Grayson was two steps ahead of them. Rather shifting himself, Grayson drew a silver blade and sliced Felix across his chest while he was mid-shift. Felix howled in pain, bleeding as he completely shifted into his black wolf. Grayson lunged to take another swipe at Felix but Tristan who had managed to shift pushed Felix out of the way. Tristan snapped at Grayson who retreated but not quickly enough as Tristan overpowered him biting his arm that held the blade and he dropped it causing him to cry out.
"f*****g mutt!" Grayson growled and he shifted.
"Takes one to know one!" howled Tristan and he leapt onto Grayson ripping and clawing at him.
Jacob shifted into his wolf seeing the balance shift slightly and he and Felix looked at each other snapping and snarling, preparing to attack. They circled each other carefully and then Jacob charged at Felix head down knocking into him and his already wounded chest. Felix whined but countered with a bite around Jacob's neck and dragged him with his teeth. Jacob scrabbled with his paws but couldn't grip anything to try and shake himself free. As Felix's jaws tightened around him, Jacob felt suddenly felt light-headed. He heard a slashing noise and suddenly felt something warm and sticky dripping down his body. Felix groaned and faltered for a second before slashing Jacob's face and crumpling up on the floor in a heap. He shifted back to his human form.
"If you want something done, better to do it yourself," the third Alpha sighed, removing his hand from the hilt of the silver blade that he lodged into Felix's back. "How poetic, he was literally stabbed in the back," he added chuckling darkly, wiping the handle clean.
"You're a true artist Alpha," smirked Jacob,
Tristan and Grayson were still in a violent scuffle, Jacob received a mind-link from the Alpha and shoved the unsuspecting Tristan into the wall knocking him unconscious. Severely injured, Grayson rose to his feet and the three of them shifted back into their human forms. As life was ebbing out of the pack's Alpha, howls began to fill the air, they could sense he was in mortal danger.
After grabbing some clothing from the Felix's cupboard and dressing, the three Alphas began to walk out of the room surreptitiously. The last Alpha took his lighter and flicked it open and set the room alight as he walked out. 'With any luck, the fire will destroy the evidence' he smirked to himself.
Outside, the rest of the pack was in chaos. There were small skirmishes that had broken out over the central pack land area surrounding the pack house. There was a significant loss of life from both sides. The rogues had gotten in disguised as warriors from one of the other packs and as they were allied with Jacob's, Grayson's and the other Alpha's packs they didn't smell like rogues. Furthermore, other warriors who were known to the Wynchwood pack who weren't rogues, were also fighting with the rogues. It became a horribly confused mess as warriors who were believed to be allies became the polar opposite.
Freya had managed to get a lot of the vulnerable pack members and their children to safety within the school. She couldn't find her children though which terrified her. She was midway through mind-linking them when she suddenly felt a sharp pain through her chest and could feel every attack that Felix was experiencing. She doubled over in pain and cried out and hot tears streaked down her face. When she felt something sharp pierce her back, she felt a vibration through her and the pack. Felix was in hurt very badly, she needed to get to him. She clambered to her feet and turned towards the pack house, but she was accosted by that same unknown Alpha she saw in her vision.
"Well, well, well what do we have here? What a pretty Luna you are," he said eyeing her up and down in a disgusting way.
Freya tried to walk past him, but he barred her way.
"Please Alpha, I must get to my husband," she protested and tried to dodge him again. She was still blissfully ignorant of their involvement in today's attack.
"Of course, Luna," he replied stepping aside. "I'm sure he's DYING to see you."
Freya stopped upon hearing his words and turned around trembling at his words.
"What did you say?" she asked.
"I'm sure Alpha Felix is dying to see you," he smirked.
Freya suddenly launched herself at him clawing at his eyes. He struggled for a moment and then managed to throw her off him.
"YOU f*****g b***h! MY FACE! MY EYES!" he roared.
Freya hit the hard ground and yelped but that was nothing compared the pain Felix was in, she fought her pain and standing up staggered towards the pack house.
"Oh Luna!" the Alpha called again. "Are you sure you want see Felix first? Isn't there anyone else that you are looking for?" he laughed, deliberately taunting her.
Freya's face turned pale, she had heard Bryan and Benjy through the mind-link. They were safely hiding with Maisie away from the pack house avoiding suspicion. She hadn't heard from Kiona though and as she began to imagine the worst and she turned around to face the Alpha her worse fears were realised. Kiona stood there in front of the Alpha crying.
"No! please don't hurt her!" Freya begged putting her hands together. "Please, she's just a child."
"Ok take her away," the Alpha commanded to a nearby warrior who lead Kiona towards one of the cars.
"No! Please! Alpha! Please! Punish me! Please don't hurt her I beg you!" Freya screamed.
"You know Luna, I rather like the idea of you begging. Convince me. Get down on your knees and beg for your daughter's life," he said smiling darkly.
Freya lifted her robes to kneel and began to go down.
"SHE WILL DO NO SUCH THING!" came a roar.
Freya turned around and she was shocked. The pack house had been set ablaze and the fire was growing rapidly. However, in the foreground stood a bruised, battered and soot covered Tristan supporting a limping, bleeding, soot covered Felix. Freya ran to him and took him in arms.
"Felix! Oh my Goddess! Felix!" Freya held him.
For a split second the two of them looked into each other's eyes and forgot the world, the situation and struggles they were facing. They looked at each for the briefest of moments with the fierce love they had for each other and mustered the courage to face this together.
"How sweet! Let's complete this happy reunion! We've killed your sons," Jacob snickered. "We just need the girl!"
There were rogues assembling around the Felix and Freya like a swarm of bees to nectar. They were completely surrounded. As Freya had now come to realise, the vision's she saw were true all along, but they had deliberately been tampered with to disguise what she could and couldn't see. She had been tricked. As she realised this, she relayed a quick mind-link to Esme before it was too late. She held Felix's hand and squeezed it tightly and he did the same. The dark Alpha returned and as Freya had foreseen, he was carrying a screaming Kiona over his shoulder.
"SHUT UP AND STOP MOVING!" the Alpha growled. "Do you have any final words to say to your parents?"
Suddenly two silver blades held against Felix and Freya's throats. Kiona began to scream and protest wildly again; it was louder than previously. The Alpha slapped her hard causing her to fall.
"Once last chance girl, anything you want to say to them?" the Alpha barked.
"I-I-I, I love you M-mama and P-p-papa. I l-l-ove you b-bboth so much." Kiona stammered in her sweet innocent voice.
"We love you too little one," Freya replied calmly, tears flooding down her face.
"Yes, baby Papa and Mama love you very much. We are always with you," Felix repeated reassuringly.
"Well she will spend the rest of her life being loved by me!" replied the Alpha sinisterly. "Your pack and your daughter are mine!"
As those last few words echoed in their heads, Freya and Felix tried to run to Kiona but were held back. As they struggled to free themselves, they felt the blades s***h across their throats and the last thing they saw was Kiona screaming as they surrendered to an eternal darkness.....
As the Alpha and Luna left the earthly plain the pack members felt their bonds and ties break within the pack. Howls and whines laced with deep sorrow filled the night air.
Kiona had been gagged again and thrown into a nearby car. She was kicking and screaming so much that the Alpha had to have her sedated.
"I am going to have so much fun breaking you my sweet," he said caressing her cheeks with the back of his hand as he watched her slowly falling unconscious.
The Alpha walked away from his car and looked around at the all the broken faces. The fighting had completely stopped and as the warriors and rogues dispersed the pack members hurriedly gathered around the now motionless Alpha and Luna. As they shed their tears and began to mourn their loss, Esme and her husband Ethan clawed their way to the front and their faces fell. The Beta and Gamma were nowhere to be seen, Esme hoped they were still alive or maybe it would be better they weren't, so they didn't have to witness this. Alex saw Esme and motioned towards the Alpha and Luna. Ethan and Alex with the help of a couple of others carried their bodies away before they could be desecrated any further.
