Just Pooling About

"Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday Dear Kio, Happy Birthday to me," murmured Kiona sleepily, as she woke to her alarm ringing at 4am. Just like any other day, she walked sleepily to the Omega quarters, she brushed and showered before the washroom became busy. She arrived at the kitchen before everyone else and got started on her chores for the day. She spent more time cooking now rather than cleaning up which was left to the less skilled omegas. Before long Mia, Cora, Will and a newcomer Rose joined her for duties. After service was completed, the omegas sat in the kitchen nibbling on the leftovers when the kitchen had some unexpected visitors. "Alpha. Beta. Good morning," Mia bowed and greeted; the rest of her team followed suit. The Alpha entered the kitchens and looked at his minions, shaking like little leaves. "Good morning Mia. We are forming new alliances with some of the neighbouring packs. We will be holding a party here to welcome them in a couple of weeks' time, followed by a Mating Ball. The catering, decorations and execution will fall to a core team and I will expect you and two team members of your choosing to run and organise everything. Do not let me down. The Beta will tell you when to come and report your proposals." "Yes Alpha," Mia replied obediently. "And you," the Alpha said, looking at Kiona like a predator stalking his prey. "Mia tells me you are fully trained now. Once these events are over I expect you to come and cook for me every evening." "Yes, Alpha," Kiona replied sombrely. The Alpha turned on his heel and marched out. "What was that about?" Will asked concerned. "We are having a party," Rose clapped and did a little dance. "No I meant about Kio, the Alpha looked menacing." "He probably just has an evil resting b***h face. He must have had that face as a child and then the wind blew and it got stuck," retorted Rose before Kiona could reply. "Shhhhh Rose don't talk like that, it can get you into trouble. You never know who is listening in this place." "Too right, I'm sure the Alpha won't like me telling him about your comment about his face," came another new voice through the kitchen. "s**t!" cursed Will. "I told you Rose!" In walked Miles and the rest of his posse. The kitchen seemed to be a very happening place today for some reason. Rose's face turned pale and she looked like she was about to cry. "Awww don't worry little Omega, I won't tell on you, for a price," smirked Miles. "You do realise we earn peanuts," joked Mia, "and I manage this kitchen. How much do you reckon those two have?" "I wasn't thinking money," Miles explained. "What were you thinking?" Mia asked, getting a little worried. "I want that little girl to join us for a game of pool tonight, she ran away yesterday while we are arguing. You thought I forgot?" Miles laughed, pointing at Kiona. Kiona turned a deep shade of red in embarrassment. She walked up to Miles and affirmed his statement. "You are saying, that if I join you for a game of pool tonight, you promise not to tattle on my friend here?" "That is correct." "Kio! You don't have to-" Rose started protesting and Mia joined her. "Ok I'll do it," she replied.
