Chapter Ten: Jackson’s Housewarming

517 Words
After our first 4 wins, I decided to have a housewarming party with my teammates. Sara thought it was a great idea since this could be considered team building. I had the food catered and had light entertainment at my place. My parents and brother decided to fly in to see the place and to meet my new team. Aiden is in his final year of WHL so he hoping to get drafted soon. Around 6, Jeff showed up looking a bit down and out but still had a friendly face. I asked him dude you okay? He replies I’ll be okay, my girlfriend broke up with me, apparently my schedule was too hard for her. I was kinda taken back, usually the women understood our schedule and demand. Dude don’t even worry about it, she clearly wasn’t the one and the next one will get it, I smiled. He nodded and went to the bar, then everyone started to show up. It was a great time, everyone was getting along, my parents seemed to like everyone and our coach had been talking to my brother and Aiden looked happy. This team was so much different then my last one, everyone got along and had fun but in a grown up matter. Sara even flew out to see my place and see how I was behaving, it was a surprise to be honest. I had to admit my agent was beautiful but out of bounds for me, but it did look like Sara and Jeff were hitting it off. If anyone knew the schedule and accepted it, it was Sara. I was talking to Adam our goalie when Jeff came over and started chatting with us. He looks at me and says Jackson man you need to decorate your house, it looks like a cold prison. I just laughed at him and agreed. Yea I know it’s bare, I have been meaning to get an interior designer to warm it up, but between moving, unpacking, practice and games I haven’t had time. Jeff and Adam both said we may know someone to help out. Adam said she was the best in New York and she’d done half of the team’s places, I was impressed. Jeff said it was his sister Cara who owned her own company, Adam and Jeff both showed me pictures of their places, I was surprised, their places were bachelor pads but classy. It wasn’t what you’d expect, each place had their own personality to them. Jeff showed me Cara’s portfolio on her website and I was impressed to say the least. I was eager to make this place a home, so I took Adam and Jeff’s advice and asked Jeff for her number to call her, he gladly handed it over with a smirk on his face which confused me a bit but I didn’t ask any questions. By 12AM everyone had went home and I looked around my place excited to make this a home. In the morning I would be reaching out to Jeff’s sister Cara to get the ball moving.
