34: Ryann Ryann “I can’t do this anymore,” Ryann said, as soon as Annys asked her to sit. Annys had summoned her to a room next to her office. The room was cosy, with soft furnishings and cushions on the chairs. The lighting was soft too, and there were terminals on the walls displaying moving images of grassland and forests, one showing a river. Birdsong and the bubbling of water echoed on the edge of hearing. And she knew exactly why Annys had chosen to meet her in this room‌—‌it was a distraction.
