“Deva?”
The trace said it was her, but Ryann had to look again. The girl wore company overalls, and she seemed older, her face harder. She stood in the middle of a long bunk-room, and hers was the only trace in the place.
Deva frowned. “Ryann? What the hell are you doing here?”
Ryan smiled. “I was about to ask you the same thing. How have you been?”
She took a step forward. She wanted to raise her arms and give Deva a hug, but something about the girl’s demeanour told Ryann that wouldn’t be a good move.
Deva backed off, shaking her head. “No time. We need to get out.” She stepped to the left and forward.
Ryann stepped into her path. “You can’t run out on me.”
“Can’t stay here.” Deva dodged to the right, trying to get past Ryann, but Ryann blocked the door.
