The attacker’s steps inching closer towards her, Kim realised she had a choice. She could run and risk him shooting her in the back, or she could wait to die. Taking a deep breath, she made her decision, preferring to take a risk and fight for her life rather than waiting passively to let a man take control of her. She shook out her legs and shifted into a running stance, ready to run, but the sound of a gunshot stopped her in her tracks. If she had been hit, she didn’t feel a thing. Turning, she saw her pursuer fall to the ground. Had he been shot? If so, who had shot him? Was it the police? She didn’t see another soul in sight, so what happened? Staying behind the tree, Kim scanned the surrounding area, but she didn’t see anyone around. She couldn’t tell where the shot had come from,
