Show Me Your Light Part 2

There are more high rank looking guys here, which I guess the captains of the guilds they're talking about. We all stay in line. Captain Aeshi was standing in front of me since I was first in the line, and I feel kinda embarrassed. The room was small compared to the waiting room, an unfinished wall, torch as the light, looks like a torture room, and the room smells like construction site. A beautiful slim woman stand in front of us.

“From now on you are now my little brothers and sisters!” Her voice sounds very sexy and seducing, but it was cheerful at the same time. Her curly long hair suits her proportionated face. She wears a scarlet robe, pants, and just a bra, and on her waist is a dangling whip.

“My name is Vice Captain Jona, from Scarlet Snow guild— and I will be your trainer in barrier building training. So kindly raise up your hands if you can create a barrier.” She said. I raised hand, and on my peripheral vision. Captain Aeshi looked at me, and of course I look back and smile. He was kinda startled though so he quickly look away.

“Okay. For those who raised their hands, I hate to say this but again— we're moving to another room.” Captain Jona lazily replied. I don’t know how many times that we have to move from one room to another.

“Bye Gwyn” Kit said as I walk pass her. Pia and Leinard smiled at me, and says “you can do it” with their hand gestures. We walk tirelessly following Captain Jona and not a single soul breath a word. Captain Jona stopped walking abruptly.

“Oh come on guys!” she complained then face us. “Ya'll should enjoy this training. No need to feel tensed and stressed. Smile if you want, cry if you must, shout if your heart cannot contain your heart's content.” Then she flashed a smile. Everyone starts to exhale, as if they haven’t exhaled in 100 years, then we start moving again.

“We thought you were strict like the other captains.” A man with a weird hairstyle said.

“Oh? Where did that rumor came from?” she laughed. “Captains are all fun, except Aeshi hahaha!” she added. Maybe that’s how captain Aeshi really was, cold-hearted, man of few words, with a doesn’t-give-a-s**t attitude. A typical leading man with a mysterious character. Well, I don’t know. Just taking a guess and with his attitude earlier, I bet I'm right!

“We're here! Finally... That was a long way whoosh” Captain Jona said. Inside the room a bunch of people were there wearing scarlet robe. Some was wearing blue, violet, black, and violet robes. A guild members I think.

Captain Jona walks further. “Come in and find your comfortable space.” She said and then someone approached her, and they’re discussing things that I can’t hear. So I head straight and sit near the window. This room was spacious, everyone was taking up the space. This team gathered at least 70 people who has the ability to create barriers. I wonder how powerful their barriers can be. How much power do they exert to create one? I don't know if I can stay here longer than I supposed to. I wonder, where did my power came from? Did I manage to save myself from hitting by a car because I unintentionally awakened my power to create barrier? Well, it may be! But why did I end up in this place? I have to find the answers for myself, but I only know Pia and Leinard in this place. I'm totally lost. A three round of claps echoed the busy room.

"Okay. So my litte cute Bros and Sissies, stay where you are right now but be sure leave the center empty." Captain Jona announced. She opened the scroll that was handed to her by the full-bangs-guy beside her.

"For the starter, once I call your name please step at the center and show me your barrier. This will help me to assess your skill." She laid her eyes again on the scroll. I just hope my luck here works too as well just like in my school.

"Tricia Medallion, Start now." A girl stands at the center. Everyone gathered encircling the center. Tricia seems to be prepared. She points her sword on the ground and shouted. At nano-second, a dark green and big barrier was formed. My mouth fell open as I saw her crazy big barrier. It looks so powerful, I think it's hard and can last atleast 10 minutes.

"What a beautiful barrier Tricia!" Captain Jona exclaimed. Her face looked facinated and excited. "Be prepare, I'll come at you with all I've got." She started to run toward Tricia and take her whip on her sling bag. As I watch her, an electricity was running on the whip. She hit the barrier very hard, and the impact create a strong wind inside this room. The whole room was covered with dusty smoke. We tried our best not to get flown away by it, but the dust was keeping us to see what's going on. As soon as the air cleared up, I saw Tricia, she is on her knees and breathing heavily. Her barrier turns to lime green.

"You did a good job!" Captain Jona said. Two mages helped Tricia to stand. Probably they're going to heal her.

"Next! Noah Centillo!" One by one, everyone was trying their best. Some failed to make a strong barrier. Some barely survive the Captain's aggressive attack. But there are many of us who manage to withstand her attack and remain their barriers undamaged. She's crazily strong. She can even channel her magic on her weapon. For sure her hits was just light one and she's just acting with that "with all I've got" remark, 'coz when you look closely, there's no muscle that's stressing when she attack. I don't know what will happen with my flimsy barrier or if I can survive her attack. I have to at least make it to the first stage of this training or else I'll be a beggar in this kingdom.

"Gwyn Estrael, your turn." As soon as I heard my name, my body's temperature dropped low. A series of heavy breathes. I stand in the red circle at the center. All eyes were fixed on me. Of course they're expecting. Sigh. I finally start with my fighting position. My power rushed to my whole body. A dark violet light starts to arise. This was my first dark violet barrier, just like Tricia's barrier earlier. Maybe this one is strong and hard. "Yosh. I can do this." I whispered.

"Wow! What a nice color for a barely passer, Gwyn." Captain Jona said. Like what she did earlier, she came to me running, ready to strike anytime. I am confident that this barrier can help me. All of a sudden, my dark violet barrier was turned into a purple one.

"W-w-what's happen-ning??" I said under my breath. The crowd was shocked and so was I. But Captain Jona looks unbothered and continue to come to me. Unable to move, I closed my eyes. She strikes her whip on my barrier. It was cracked open. I felt my energy draining and my knees fell on the ground. I didn't realize that Captain Jona was on her knees as well. We both breath heavily. Everyone was murmuring. A mage came and help me to stand.

"That was a good one Gwyn. You're beautifully destructive." Captain Jona said. I was escorted to the bench, and beside me was unconscious Tricia. I watched the whole training while I rest my body.

After a 3 hour long training earlier, the trainers finally let us have our break. I rushed to the cafeteria hoping to see Pia or Leinard there. Tons of trainees are here, eating, laughing, talking, just like having their good times together and that's good. We should all enjoy our days here together. Besides, after this training, we'll be on a separate guilds and teams, and be dispatched to different locations. Someone tapped my shoulder, I look who's it, and it's Pia with Leinard, Kit, and Bon.

"How you've been doing?" Pia asked. We take up the unoccupied table and Bon gave me a tray of food. "Oh, thanks!" I said.

"No worries." He replied.

"Well, it was hell." I said while I stuff foods in my mouth.

"I guess, we're in the same hell at different rooms." Leinard jokingly said. We laughed as we share our first day stories. Pia and Kit was in the same training in controlling techniques with Captain Elinore. Bon was trained in Archery, and Leinard was with the mages.

"Hey, hey, guys. Come a little closer. I have a leaked info." Kit whispered. We fixed our focuse on her.

"So here's the tea. According to the report I overheard, the appearance of monsters in the last few weeks was decreasing, but the number of casualties and mortal death was great. As of now, captains were deployed to investigate."

"So what do you think is the problem?" Leinard asked.

"Me! Me!" Pia raised her hands. "Maybe there's someone behind it. Of course besides the monsters. Maybe a person."

"Then what will be the benefit? Does death count as gain? It would be illogical if a Juwoni citizen be killed by a fellow citizen." Bon said.

"Unless, there's an outsider here in our kingdom and cause the people to distrust our government." Leinard added.

"You have a point Leinard." I blurted. "Perhaps, there is someone who wants to dethrone the King."

"Woah, woah, woah." Kit protested. "We can't accuse anyone here or what. We have to look closely to the details and let's not talk about here now. I don't wanna die now."

We munched our foods. The cafeteria gets busier than earlier. The silence was so obvious on our table maybe because of the last topic we had. Everyone was thinking hard about it. This kingdom is corrupted as well in my real world. There's no place that is not corrupted. Everyone is a political animal. Power hungry. Some of them even claim that they're not into authority, but sooner or later you'll see that they're pushing their wants and personal desires. We finally finished our foods and it's almost time to go back to our training rooms. I head back first since my room is pretty far. Most of us were back already. I head back to my favorite place which is beside the window. I was staring blankly on the scenery outside. Captain Jona tapped my shoulder. "When everyone is sleeping, at the Zoe Pillars, meet me there. Don't tell anyone." She said with a serious face. I don't know but it creeped me out. But I just said yes anyway. Yeah. That's unusual, her expression was always lively and excited. But this time she was ill-serious.

After the training, I had my dinner and I take a shower. We were all bathing in sweat because of the combat training. I headed back to the sleeping quarters. Boys and girls shared the same room. There's a twelve double decker beds, and I chose the one on the bottom, on the left, near the door. I lie down the bed trying hard not to fall asleep because I have to meet Captain Jona later. I just have to wait until everyone is sleeping. I didn't noticed but I fell asleep. "Damn!" I whispered. The torches was already unlit and everyone was in deep sleep. I carefully move and trying not to make any noises. I slowly opened the door and leave silently. I dashed to the lobby coz I don't know if Captain is already sick of waiting. "s**t! She's already here." I whispered.

"I'm sorry I made you wait Captain."

"It's okay." She replied. Her hair was untied, she wear a silk sleepwear. She's very pretty. Only the light from the pillars was our help to see.

"Sorry to summon you here, I know you should be sleeping now. But I have to confirm things..."

"Like what?"

"That you're possesing an ancient power."

"What?" Her eyes were stern, that I feel that I should not ask stupid questions.

"When I attacked you earlier, I felt my own magic bounced back at me. It send me flying, and my body badly hurt. I was lucky that I was just taking you all lightly. But if ever that there is another explanation for what happened to me earlier, I want to confirm if you really have an ancient power." An electricity— lightning I suppose,  was forming on her hands. I take a step backward. My body formed a barrier involuntarily. She released the lightning and hit my barrier. The impact sent both of us flying.

"Argh!" I growled. My body landed on the pillar. Everything hurts. I can't move but I have to. On the other side, Captain Jona was standing and her eyes were fixed on the pillar— amused. I look above, and I saw the pillar, emits a pitch black color.

"On the other hand, if anyone of you gets a black colored light, you'll take an advanced training with the captains. Black light is equal to a very powerful magic." In an instant,  I remembered what Captain Aeshi said on the opening remarks.
