On the 45th floor of the L and L main office, a woman sat behind a mahogany desk of the main office her red hair packed in a low bun and her lips paused in concentration but her mind had traveled far. Yet again she had dreamed of the same mysterious man and it was beginning to grit on her nerves. This time he had stood in the corner where darkness was shrouded watching, and before the first streak of light appeared in the sky, he whispered the same words he had been uttering for the past ten years before disappearing. His voice hoarse and low, deep yet commanding had left her heart aching. How that was possible she was still unable to decipher. Her blues dimmed a little at his parting word, home. She was home with her family and if her family wasn't home, where was home. She knew they would not be parting for long, he could not stay away for long. Now, she was crazy, believing that her dreams were real. They had to, considering the emotions were real.
"Soon, you would be home",
Home, a part of her she could not decipher understood what he meant, well the other part she thought to herself that she was already home. Then, her thoughts drifted to the incident of the proposal that happened a month ago. She hadn't seen any of her family since then. She understood the reason for the action her father too, but to have sprung such a news on her without warning, she could not understand. This was not the first time she had made sacrifices, after all, it came with the power that was handed over to her but she sure knew that Signor Lucieno should not have expected her to sit as they toasted to her failed and new engagement. Her brow creased in displeasure and confusion as she wondered about what Mr Luther stood to gain. She was a businesswoman after all, and you don't get married if the title is the only one to be gained.
The ringing of the landline snapped her out of the reverie.
"Mr. Luther is here, ma'am",
Aurora could almost taste the cautious tone of her assistant Lesley on her tongue. She paused for a few seconds before grunting a reply. He sure picked the right time to arrive.
Two quick knocks sounded at the door before Lesley ushered him in. She watched as Lesley threw a cautious glance at him before her deep brown eyes looked at her in worry. Aurora did not know that Lesley knew how to be cautious. That woman had enough courage to murder a person at the square in the daylight. She cast Lesley a pointed look before she turned to leave her office.
Viktor took a good look at the office, simple yet elegant. Minimal furniture, just enough to have a meeting and it lacks sentiments. No family pictures. Immediately Lesley the assistant opened the office he was assaulted by her essence, calm, not too sweet, and enticing. Viktor took a deep breath, but he noticed the disgusted look Lesley threw him which he chose to ignore. Aurora's hair was packed low bun that had gotten loose, she was putting on a turtle-knitted armless top that showcased her smooth slender arms. He noticed her coat on the hanger just adjacent hair. A month felt like a lifetime since he last saw her and he struggled to hide the obsession in his eyes. He was going crazy. He wondered how his brother was able to stay away, his brother had no idea what his patience would cost him. Danilo would have been the lucky one had he claimed his beloved. He almost died of anticipation under the scrutiny of her assistance as he watched her report about his arrival. He had been watching her for a long time to know she would not have appreciated it. Viktor drank her in a man in the desert last drop of water. He could not stop and she had not even looked in his direction. Viktor wanted Lesley gone, absentmindedly he commanded.
" Black coffee",
Excuse me, Lesley turned to look at the outrageous man. Where did he think he was, his coffin?
He continued as he unbuttoned his jacket "Blazing",
When Aurora took a casual glance his way, his unbeaten her skip, he could drown in those blue eyes forever as he brought her ecstasy. He almost grunted out in displeasure when she looked away, that was too short and quick. Viktor told himself he had to be patient, he still had time well as long as his brother did not come back. Her lips, he had envisioned countless times. How best would it have been if she was his beloved, but it mattered not now. He would take it even if it didn't belong to him.
He took the sofa that gave him the best view of Aurora, but I think he had just stabbed himself with a stake. The reflection of the sun on her hair made her look ethereal he could hardly breathe.
" Your coffee, Mr. Luther", Lesley placed the coffee on the table and looked at him in mockery, but the fool chose not to look her way. The bastard wanted to pry his brother's corner. If nobody could see through him Lesley could, his manipulative thoughts were glaring at her. Lesley gritted her teeth in annoyance, then banged the door on her way out.
Aurora's brow raised in question, as she wondered about what was wrong with her ever-so-polite assistant. She laid back on her chair as she watched the man took a sip of his coffee. Aurora had to agree that Mr Luther was a very handsome, no, gorgeous man. In fact, as a woman who has two very gorgeous brothers, she thought of him as otherworldly.
"Have I hypnotized Miss Lucieno", Viktor teased.
She gently loosened her hair that was in a bun and as they fell down her back, she kneaded her head unbothered by his presence.
" If that is what Mr. Luther....",
Viktor felt as if he had barely said those words before he ate them back. Well, he would do so gladly.
He cut her short, irritated by the formality that put a distance between them. "Danilo",
She continued without care "...came for, I believe you have failed before you stepped into my office"
Viktor was beginning to think of her as rigid, she was not someone he could easily get friendly with. Good for him, he loved to chase.
"Do you not miss me", Viktor's thin lips pulled into a charming smirk.
"Why have you come", She fixed him a blank stare.
"I miss you", Viktor looked seductive, unfortunately for Viktor, he was speaking to a woman who thought of him as a nuisance.
Aurora looked carefully at Viktor, he waited as he watched her scrutinize him. This man, Danilo sounded somehow like the man in her dreams but his auro weakened in comparison. Something was nudging her at the back of her mind.
" When was the first time you saw me, Danilo", Even his name didn't sound right like it was not his.
Viktor was in a trance, after all, he was watching those pink lips of hers. He almost didn't hear what she said. When he looked up, he saw her raised brow.
Viktor smiled unabashedly.
"Winter, you were twenty", he looked into the distance at the memory as he placed his left hand over his crossed legs. That was eight years ago, one of the longest years of his life as a vampire.
Aurora hummed in response. The man was practically a stalker, he might have tried to hide it but she saw a snippet of the desire in his eyes.
How long had he been planning this engagement, she would not be surprised if he was in cahoot with the Dmitri. She should not be quick to judge, Aurora reminded herself.
" How do you feel about my last engagement",
Viktor could not hide his displeasure.
"The Mathias boy never deserved you", Viktor looked pointedly at her.
Aurora tilted her head to the left in question. " And you do?
That action provoked a smile on Viktor's face.
"We will see about that won't we",
He stood from the black sofa and buttoned up his jacket while watching Aurora intently.
Something tells Aurora that the man before her was not someone to be trifled with, obsession or not. For the first time as an adult, something about the situation evoked fear in her.
"Take care, I will see you soon my love", Viktor flashed her a smile before strutting towards the door.
Viktor pulled the door open before turning toward her as if he could not bear to part with her " We should go on dates these days shouldn't we", Then, he closed the door quietly after him. Well, he knew Aurora hated noise.
The man in her dream had said the same although the voices were similar, Viktor's did not provoke a sense of longing in her instead it was crisis.
