Aria huffed and crossed her arms, muttering under her breath, "Who needs him anyway?" But as the silence grew louder around her, doubt began to creep in. She looked around the dark forest, the shadows feeling more ominous without Milo by her side. "Stupid Milo," she whispered to herself, though her voice wavered. "He’ll come back. He always does." Minutes turned into what felt like hours, and the oppressive darkness seemed to press closer. Every rustle of leaves and c***k of branches made her flinch. The bravado she’d clung to began to wane, replaced by a deep unease. Finally, she stood up, gripping her flashlight tightly. "Okay, fine. I’ll just make sure he’s okay. Not because I care, but because he’s probably gotten himself into trouble." She started walking in the direction Milo had stormed off, the beam of her flashlight barely cutting through the thick shadows. Meanwhile, Milo stormed through the forest, his anger fueling each step. "I shouldn't have followed her,i should just have Let her come herself She always does this," he muttered. "Always dragging me into her stupid ideas and acting like it’s my fault when things go wrong." But as his steps grew slower and his anger cooled, he began to feel the weight of the forest’s oppressive silence. The trees seemed to loom taller, their branches reaching out like skeletal fingers. He glanced around, realizing he had no idea where he was. The realization sent a chill down his spine. "Great. Now I’m the one who’s lost," he muttered, kicking a rock in frustration. A sudden snap of a twig behind him made him freeze. "Aria?" he called out, his voice trembling slightly. No answer. He spun around, his flashlight darting over the dense trees. The silence felt unnatural, almost alive. "Get it together, Milo,we. just have to figure a way to get out of here" he whispered, clutching his flashlight tighter. But the creeping fear was undeniable. The forest seemed even darker now that they were alone. Aria clutched her flashlight tightly, its beam piercing through the thick, gnarled trees. Every rustle of leaves or distant hoot of an owl sent chills down her spine. She hated to admit it, but the milo’s presence had made her feel safer—even if she’d never tell him that. Meanwhile,as the minutes dragged on, milo frustration began to fade, replaced by an unsettling realization: the forest wasn’t normal. "what have I done I can't believe I left aria all by herself" he said walking back But just like earlier The trees seemed to shift, their branches forming strange, unnatural shapes. Shadows danced where there was no wind. An oppressive silence fell over the forest, broken only by the sound of his own footsteps. “It’s just your imagination... Just keep walking.”Milo said to himself walking faster Aria wasn't faring any better. Her flashlight flickered, and she smacked it in frustration. “Don’t do this to me now.”Aria said her voice full of frustration Suddenly, a low, guttural growl echoed through the trees. She froze, heart pounding. “Who’s there?” There was no answer, only the growing sound of something moving—something big. Panic set in, and she bolted, her flashlight bouncing wildly as she ran. On the other side of the forest, milo heard faint whispers. He stopped, straining to listen, but the whispers grew louder, more insistent, and seemed to come from all around him. Whispers: “Turn back... You don’t belong here...” His breath quickened. trying to sound brave he said “Who’s there? Show yourself!” There was no response, only the sound of footsteps approaching. He didn’t wait to see who—or what—it was. He took off running, adrenaline surging through him. Both of them ran blindly, driven by fear and the sense that something unseen was chasing them. Aria tripped on a root, crashing to the ground. Her flashlight flew out of her hand, landing a few feet away and illuminating her terrified face. She tried to get up, but a sharp pain in her ankle made her cry out. As she reached for the flashlight, her vision blurred, and she blacked out. milo, meanwhile, ran until his lungs burned. he kept looking back His foot caught on a rock, and he tumbled forward, hitting his head on a low-hanging branch. Stars exploded in his vision, and the world spun before fading to black. --- The first rays of sunlight broke through the forest canopy, scattering warm, golden light across the forest floor. The sound of birds chirping cheerfully filled the air, a stark contrast to the eerie silence of the night before. Aria stirred, her eyelids fluttering open. She winced as a sharp pain pulsed through her ankle and head. Groaning softly, she sat up, her movements slow and cautious. As she looked around, her heart sank. She was still alone with no signs of milo anywhere She was lying in a small clearing surrounded by dense trees, their shadows stretching long in the morning light. The forest looked... normal. No whispers, no shifting shadows, no menacing presence. “What... happened?”Aria thought as she tried to make sense of what happened last night Her fingers brushed against her temple, and she winced at the tender spot where she must have hit her head. She struggled to her feet, leaning against a tree for support. Elsewhere, the milo groaned as he woke up, his head pounding. He was lying sprawled on a patch of moss beneath a large tree, the sunlight filtering through its leaves. He squinted against the brightness, sitting up slowly. “What the...?” he said to himself trying to make sense of what was happening He looked around, his brow furrowing. The forest was eerily calm. The strange whispers and shadows from the night before were gone. It felt like a completely different place. A wave of frustration and unease washed over him as he remembered the events of the night. He muttered to himself, “I knew I shouldn’t have followed her. This is insane.” Standing up, he dusted himself off and scanned the area. There was no sign of her. “Great. Just great. Now I’m lost and alone.” --- In another part of the forest, far from both of them, the sun’s rays illuminated another patch of ground where the flashlight had fallen when she got injured. The beam flickered weakly, casting faint light on the leaves. The forest seemed almost tranquil, as if the night’s events had never happened Aria stood up but immediately fell back down "i can't believe it's still this painful, well I can't stay here forever "she said trying to stand up. she walked more like limped in her search for any familiar landmarks, while the milo wandered aimlessly, calling out occasionally but hearing only the forest’s reply. Despite the calm surroundings, an uneasy feeling lingered in the pit of their stomachs, a reminder that they were still trapped in a place no one ever escaped from. They didn’t know how far apart they were—or how long the forest would let them stay unharmed in its deceptively serene daylight.
