I knew I had made a dangerous decision which was not in my nature. It was almost like I wasn't the one speaking. My eyes couldn't get away from the minor ruffles he gave on the mattress.
" Anything else? " he sounded relieved.
" You're leaving first thing tomorrow morning. "
He chuckled, " Of course, I owe you one. "

I have to admit, aunt Vivian's food smelt great. Curly had made me promise to bring extra for him. Even though I doubted he'd know what the meal was, but I did. I knew what it was the moment I smelt it, she had made my favorite food, spaghetti and chicken stew.

" I hope you enjoy it! " She exclaimed.
I immediately went into the kitchen in search of a bigger plate, preferably something deeper, so I could fulfill my promise to Curly.
" What are you doing with that? They're already plates on the table. "
" I'm taking mine to my room. " I said blankly as I began pouring an insane amount of food inside.
" You're not... you're not eating here? "
I was too busy facing downwards to hide the fact that a strange, possibly Mexican boy was hiding inside my room to notice that aunt Vivian was sounding hurt. Not that I would care anyway.
" No, I'm not eating here. " I replied.
" Um... " She breathed heavily, " Is that not too much? "
It was, but I couldn't let her know why I needed that much food.
" So, what are you trying to say? That I'm eating too much food already? " Attack is the best form of defense. That was exactly what I did.
" No, no, " Aunt Vivian got to her feet, " That's not what I mean, Amaka. " she sat back down.
" Then don't ask me about how much I eat, that's insensitive of you. " My tone was bland.
" I'm... I'm sorry. "
I was done taking all I needed, I turned to leave, but then I remembered something.
" Who's Tess? " I asked without turning back.
" How did you know about Tess? "
Again, I regret asking that, if care was not taken, I would have been caught. I ignored her questions and continued with my movements.
" Tess is my stepdaughter! "
I came to a stop, aunt Vivian had provided a reply.
