Diana’s pov
How is it even possible?
Is Ezra a hybrid?
“You are supposed to be dead as well, from what I heard. But here you are, meeting in secret with the Alpha Prince.”
My thoughts were once again rudely interrupted by the stranger.
They have been in hiding for a very long time, and now he suddenly shows himself.
And since he thinks that I am supposed to be dead, he didn’t expect to see me.
And something tells me that he isn’t here by coincidence, which only means one thing.
He is somehow following Ezra around.
I understand why he would do that, curiosity or something more.
The boy with the eyes of a vampire.
I bet even his people want to know how that happened.
Which is the same reason I followed that guy earlier, because I would also like to know.
“I heard from rumors that he was obsessed with you, but it seems like the feeling is mutual. His father killed your parents, and yet you stand here covered in his scent,” he added after some time.
I don’t like his tone one bit. What the hell does he want with Ezra?
From what my aunt told me, one of the few times she actually spoke to me.
Hybrids are considered to be an abomination, and there are witches and werewolves out there who want me dead.
Could the same be said for Ezra?
And now that I think about it, he isn’t just an abomination but an anomaly at best.
Hybrids like me have existed in history, yes they were feared and hunted down, but they existed.
But none of them had vampire blood like Ezra.
I sighed as I sat down because this day keeps getting longer, and it just started.
“You have a proposal for me?”
He seemed amused by the fact that I completely ignored his comment about mine and Ezra’s relationship.
How do I even begin to explain to someone something that even I can’t understand or wrap my head around?
“Yes, I am willing to help you get revenge against The Alpha King for killing your parents.”
His voice was as smooth as always, and I couldn’t tell what his true intentions were.
I found myself smiling because it felt like I was dealing with an older version of Ezra.
“And what do you get from that arrangement? Am I supposed to believe that you want to help me out of the goodness of your heart?” I asked, and he chuckled a bit at this.
“Both you and I know that such a person doesn’t exist. I mean one who can do things only out of the goodness of his heart.”
I rolled my eyes at this. All I want is for him to tell me what he wants in return.
“There is something I want. And it is somewhere in the Alpha King’s pack,” he said after some time.
So, he wants me to find that thing for him.
Which means he wants me to go to the Alpha King’s pack.
“I don’t think I will be able to do that. The Alpha King thinks I am dead, and I am also the daughter of his enemy. He won’t let me through the front gate.”
I looked at him and watched his every reaction to my words.
He had this smile that told me that he didn’t believe a word I said.
“Really? Because I know for certain that you won’t just walk through the front gate. But you will do it with a title on your head. But which title will you use?” he asked with an amused smile.
“The fiancée of the Alpha Prince or the mate of the Alpha Prince?”
It was a question, but at the same time it was also a statement.
He knows what he is talking about, and trying to deny it now would only make me look like a fool.
This man came here prepared, and he knows what he is talking about.
And what is that saying?
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
I planned to escape and go somewhere for some time.
Just until I am strong enough to come back and avenge my parents.
And sitting in front of me is a man who is as strong as the Alpha King, if not stronger.
Not only that, but I am sure that he has knowledge and resources I would never hope of getting on my own.
That aside, he has been hiding for centuries, which means if there is anyone who can help me disappear, then it's him.
“I would prefer fiancée, I wouldn’t want people to know I am mated to that jerk,” I retorted, and he chuckled.
The kind of laugh that told me he didn’t believe a word I was saying but was willing to humor me.
“But I have conditions,” he paused, drinking his blood, and nodded.
“I would be surprised if you didn’t have any,” he placed the glass down.
“I want you to train me, don’t hand me over to your little henchmen.
I want you to train me personally, and open your little closet of skeletons and pull out a witch who will teach me magic,” I finished off, and he laughed at the last bit.
I am certain of it; someone like him probably has a closet full of powerful witches.
I know the basics, but that is all I know, and now I want a teacher who is willing to train me.
“Then you have yourself a deal. I will train you personally, and I will have one of my best witches to teach you magic.”
I looked at him, his responses, and everything was smooth for some time now.
But after I agreed to our little proposal, I saw something in his eyes and how his shoulders seemed to relax.
He was anxious and worried that I might say no to his proposal.
I just met him and hardly know the man, but somehow this arrangement makes me feel more at ease.
I am using him to get stronger, and he is using me as well.
It’s better than being at someone else’s mercy.
We sat in comfortable peace for some time, and he got up without another word.
I followed behind him, and when we got outside, my eyes landed on the moon.
No matter what happens, the moon stays just as regal.
We got into the car, and the guy next to me held out his hand.
“My name is Kai Gray,” he introduced himself.
I didn’t need to tell him who I was because it is obvious that he already knows.
But something about what he said caught my attention, and that was his name.
He chuckled at my reaction and even went as far as throwing his head back.
“You have heard of me, huh?” he asked me.
Who hasn’t heard of him?
The guy is a legend, yes, vampires have been known to be extinct for centuries, and not much is written about them.
They tried to erase them from history, but there was one name they couldn’t erase, no matter how hard they tried.
His actions shook the world, and his power instilled fear in his enemies.
I looked at this, really looked at him and the aura that surrounds him, and I knew he was the guy in the horror stories.
Kai Gray, the Vampire Prince known as the terror of all the supernatural beings.
How the hell did I find myself in a car with someone like him?
