Chapter 39: Havoc

Diana’s pov

This is definitely a bribe.

I looked at the names of the pack he assigned me to command, and I smiled.

Some of the names on here are the same names that betrayed my father.

And along the files is also the name of my father’s pack. Looks like I get to clean house.

“You will sit there, we don’t know people to know about this yet, right?” Ezra asked.

I looked at where he was pointing, and in his office was a second desk and a chair.

He prepared it for me.

I bet that not a lot of people can come into his office, hence he wants me here.

But also, I saw the look he gave me earlier.

Ezra suspects that I know something, and he isn’t wrong.

I made a foolish mistake, I didn’t ask about his father’s red eyes right away.

I mean, it took some time to cross my mind because I already knew the answer.

So asking questions about something I already have answers to wasn’t at the top of my list.

“Of course, thank you very much.”

I felt someone’s gaze on me, and I turned to look at Isabella.

I have picked up on the fact that she doesn’t like me.

Also, on the fact that she seems to have a thing for Ezra.

Does Ezra feel the same way about her?

I looked at him and watched how he fidgeted a bit as if my gaze made him uncomfortable.

“There are other things that we need to talk about. We have to set a date for the wedding day and the mating day.”

The room turned cold the moment Ezra said those words.

“Mating day? You are not only getting married but will be mating as well?” Isabella asked the question that was stuck in my throat.

I knew that the day would come when Ezra mentions it, but it’s too soon.

Ever since I got here, one thing has been crystal clear to me.

And that is the fact that I am not wanted here.

I knew marrying Ezra was the only way to get the power I wanted.

And I have spent years mentally preparing for that.

But a mating ceremony, that would be binding myself to him for the rest of our lives.

“Yes.”

From the tone of Ezra’s voice, to him, it sounded like something obvious.

And I guess it must seem that way to him, we are fated mates.

And if we are going to get married to one another, then we might as well mate.

And in our world, people usually mate before even getting married.

That usually comes after, and some never get married legally.

They just stay together as mates and live the rest of their lives like that.

“Look, you just settled in as the Alpha King. And I also just started my duties as your future Queen. The custom is to undergo training for at least 6 months.”

I pointed it out to him.

I can’t tell him point-blank that I have no intentions of mating with him.

I watched how Ezra slowly frowned, and I sighed.

“But, we don’t have to wait for 6 months. How about 4? Then, after that, we can start planning for the mating ceremony?” I asked him.

“Yes, Alpha, plus our hands will be full with planning the wedding,” Isabella supported.

She is so in love with Ezra.

“Fine.”

And that was that, those two left the office, and I went to sit at my desk.

I looked at all the documents I have been given and the access passwords to the pack files.

I looked at each, and with each one of them, I couldn’t help but smile.

Now this is power, the power that I wanted.

I looked up at Ezra.

I have a plan, but I might need his help with this.

“Ezra, do you want to go on an adventure?” I asked him.

He looked up from his laptop and looked at me with confusion.

“I want to go to Creek Pack.”

He didn’t make any moves or ask any questions.

When I didn’t elaborate, he sighed.

“You said it yourself. I just settled as Alpha King, and you have started your own duties. Where do we get the time to go on an adventure?” he asked me.

I closed my laptop, looked outside, and then smiled.

“Well then, I guess I will just have to ask Justin if he would like to go.”

And just like that, Ezra was on his feet, and I gave him my brightest smile.

“When do we leave?” he asked me, and I looked at the time.

“In 30 minutes,” I answered him.

This earned me another frown, but no complaint left his mouth.

Honestly, I need Ezra to come with me.

I am not Queen Luna yet, so I can’t waltz into a territory of another pack.

Even Ezra could do that, but it wouldn’t earn him a good name.

Entering a person’s territory without prior notice or invitation is highly frowned upon.

This is because something like that is usually associated with an attack.

When someone enters your pack territory, and they don’t have an invitation or a valid reason, you are allowed to strike them down.

Even if you kill them, it would be seen as self-defense.

And again, it is somewhat of a taboo to do something like that.

That is why the Alpha King waited for an invitation to my birthday.

Plus, it allowed him to assemble all his forces without raising suspicion.

To my parents and everyone else, they were only responding to the invite.

Coming to celebrate the coming of age of an Alpha’s daughter.

Even if I have a valid reason and an invite, I also need Ezra as well.

Because I have a feeling that things are about to get really interesting.

I sat in the car with Ezra driving, and he turned to look at me for a second.

“Now will you tell me why we are going to Creek Pack?” he asked me.

I just smiled and looked ahead.

“We are going to wreak havoc.”

At that answer, he smirked and didn’t ask any further questions.
